Our stay at the Manzanita Cottage was so nice! When you first pull up, everything is perfectly hidden until you go through the front gate. I loved how everything was so tucked in by bushes/trees. You definitely get a perfect amount of privacy. We stayed in the green cottage and it was so so so gorgeous inside. We did a lot of walking as the beach/stores were so close. It was hard to leave and we definitely look forward to booking more trips here in the future!
THE GOOD: Parking, private patio with bbq, kitchen stocked well, cable tv, fast wifi, cute property surrounding.
Disappointed: Really tiny space, not charming and not chic. Not really funky. Could have been cleaner. For us it was not an issue but be aware there are a lot of steep stairs on the property.
These cottages are quite charming. Spaces are small, but for a short stay, it was delightful. Open beam ceilings and wood floors - we could hear the rain on the roof! We loved walking into town.
Things are a bit shop worn - could use a coat of paint in some of the rooms, a few more plates and glasses. There is not a dishwasher, but has enough equipment to cook and bake.
There is wide stairway to get from the parking area to the cottages, which did have handrails. It is a bit awkward at the top, but we did fine. There is also a lower gate that might work for those having trouble with stairs. Definately not ADA accessible. I know we were told about this before we booked.
Good location - a short uphill climb from the beach and downtown. Near high school which allows the community to use the tennis courts and pool. Cottage was quiet and surrounded by nice landscaping. We did have a few issues with the cleanliness and amenities, but Sean, the property manager, was incredibly prompt in addressing our concerns.
Great, quiet, cottage, 12-minute, hilly walk to the beach. Those are the pluses. The minor issues were it was difficult getting in touch w the manager and the cottage is a little worn.
This is a cute little cottage in a beautiful enclosed setting. Very nice bedroom and living space, small kitchen. Beach and many locations are walkable. Grill and coolers available, though we did not use them.
Darling little place. It was cool for Laguna but we had fireplace and cozy cottage. I would add if you have issues with stairs, itâs pretty steep just at entrance. Lovely and communication was good.
Cottage was very well maintained and furnished. Every corner had a beautiful accent. The gardens surrounding the cottage were gorgeous. An easy 10 minute walk to town and wonderful restaurants. We definitely wanted to stay longer than a weekend!
This fun cottage was just what we were looking for. Location was about a 15 minute walk to âdowntown.â Perfect for us to attend Pageant of the Masters. There is, however, some up hill walking which we enjoyed.
We will likely return next year.
Felt like home...really hard to leave ! We will be back for a longer stay next time ! Perfect distance to the festivals and beautiful gardens.
P.s. couch needs cleaning and smaller, softer pillows would be welcomed ( - :
Nicely located a short walk from the town. Maybe not as nice as the photos, and a bit rustic, but we enjoyed our stay. There was a communication problem between the owner and VRBO, and I had to contact the owner myself through the property web site to get entry details - otherwise would have arrived and not been able to get in. Definitely something that needs to be resolved for future guests.
The cottage, and the small enclave it's in, was adorable. If anything, it was more charming than in the photos and it had everything we needed. We enjoyed lighting the gas fireplace in the evenings. Our cottage had a rather roomy private back patio with a propane grill and comfortable furniture. I appreciated that it was in a quiet neighborhood but was only about a 5 minute walk to the coast highway. While we weren't right on the ocean (there was a small ocean view from the bedroom), I'd definitely stay here again.
The cottage was quite good. Bedroom and living room fine, kitchen and bathroom a bit small but walk to town, outdoor space and ambiance excellent. If youâre looking for a fun, beautiful beach town, accessed from a cute cottage, lâd highly recommend this choice.
The pictures on the VRBO website are very accurate. This property is as quaint as you'd expect from the photos. It's a beautiful place to stay. I felt like a Hobbit in the Shire! And it's very close to all of the restaurants and the beach. We will stay here again.
Laguna Beach has a number of hidden treasures that were built during the early days of the art colony era.
We discovered this amazing treasure in 1999 when it came on the market. It had been in one family since 1931. After major renovations we opened for our first guests on Valentine's Day in 2000, and have been delighting guests ever since. This is an ideal venue for families, honeymooners, weary business travelers, writers, etc.
