This house was absolutely incredible! Everything I would imagine in a true Hawaiian house - it was perfect and fit our every need. It was so hard to leave this bit of paradise!
This property is even more wonderful than photos. The host was delightful and even provided us fruit from her gardens. From the pool deck, we could see whales almost everyday. This is a great place to stay.
This house was perfect for our family of 2 parents and 3 adult children and a spouse. The separate sleeping were great. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking. It even had spices to use. So you could truly relax and enjoy your time in this beautiful place.
The setting is perfect and the property is truly beautiful. Host/Owner was very gracious, outfitting the property with everything the family needed for the beach, Yoga and relaxing in the sun. Household staff were available quickly to help with uncertainties about how to operate some appliances. The layout is pure Hawaii, with four separate sleeping quarters, a beautiful and functional open air common area and natural wood embellishments.
One of the most beautiful properties weâve stayed in. The house is located right in front of the ocean and has a pool that goes with the view. The kitchen is well stocked if you plan on staying in for dinner. Both manager and owners are very welcoming and easy to communicate with. Would love to visit again!
What a way to end our travel through the Hawaiian islands with our family! The house is so peaceful and unique with the most amazing ocean and sunset views. It had everything we needed and more.
I would highly recommend this property. Yarden and Shellese were very easy to work with and extremely helpful.
It was difficult to pull myself away from the property to see the sites of the island! The view is sublime, the shore line is magical, the pool is perfect, the house is tranquil and allows you to feel as though youâre living in nature.
We loved our stay at Yardenâs wonderful house. Not only the the view, the swimming pool but also the house set-up which makes us feel so truly on vacation. Yarden has been extremely responsive and very accommodating. Thanks a bunch for the beautiful fruit and local goodies basket offered at our arrival. 100% recommended !
The property is beautiful. It is easily the best VRBO I have EVER stayed in. The location is super convenient to beaches, shopping and the airport, but it is such a special property you might never want to leave it. Youâll enjoy falling asleep to the sound of the ocean, enjoy panoramic views and tide pools at the surfâs edge. Property Manager was responsive, and accommodating during our stay.
Bottom line is thatâŠ. This property easily surpassed our expectations! If you get an opportunity to stay here you SHOULD!
This was our second stay at this gorgeous property and we will definitely be back again - it truly reflects the Aloha spirit in every way. The energy and beauty of every facet of this home is beyond compare: location, views, privacy, nature, luxury accommodations and amenities, well stocked, comfortable beds, exquisite and thoughtful architecture, wonderful pool and spa, excellent for whale and dolphin watching, amazing sunsets and star gazing. The owner and property manager are very responsive and are immediately available for any questions or support. We could not recommend Hale Ohia and Yarden's exquisite sanctuary and home more highly.
Our family had a wonderful holiday at this beautiful property. The home is beautiful with lots of space and a unique design with great use of local wood and materials. It feels very warm and welcoming. Each of the bedrooms have their own ensuite bathrooms with showers/tubs. The main bedroom and bath were enormous.
The view is amazing and the pool was great for cooling off from the heat. The kitchen was very well stocked with plenty of dishes and cookware. We really made good use of the rice cooker! We also appreciated all the extras that were provided (salt, pepper, sugar, oil, spices) Thank you so much for the arrival goodie basket!
We especially appreciated the location being so close to one of the checkpoints for the Ironman race. We were able to just walk to the road and cheer on the competitors and then go back home to cool off in the pool!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful home. Our family enjoyed our stay.
We came to the Big Island to celebrate our daughterâs last softball college softball game. The last few days we decided to stay on Kona side. When we walked into the house it was so breathtaking that I actually cried! The pictures do not do it justice. Yarden and Shellese were amazing communicators. Thank you for sharing this amazing home!
Everything was beautiful and clean. The property is beyond gorgeous, very close to the water with only a windbreak of trees in front of you. Everything was a plus. Only a few caveats: The pool is very cold (in Feb.) and there is no hot tub, even though it looks like there is. First day there were about 4 different workers on or near the property, so it was not at all relaxing. Seems like there should be a discount if there are multiple workers blowing leaves, cutting trees, and mowing the lawn while you are on your vacation as the owner is using your time to do their maintenance. But it only happened one day during our 10-day stay. Everything else was fantastic. Magic Beach cafe is only a 15-min walk south, but you need to make a reservation and they can be flaky, canceling our reservation at the last minute because something happened in the kitchen (probably Covid as they never specified; these are tough times). There is a take-away window open 8-3 which is very useful. Magic Beach is beautiful, but if the waves are too big, the lifeguards prevent you from swimming (understandably). This house is an oasis to which one feels happy to return. It appears to sleep 8, but must only have a permit for 6 as that is how many it sleeps. However the extra bedroom did facilitate a clean room for new guests. The master suite is fantastic. The shower is unbelievable: green, veined rock on three sides, and it is so big it does not require a door. Hot water was in short supply. Two showers or a shower and a load of wash and youâd have to wait for more hot water. The house is 15 minutes from Gertrudeâs Jazz Bar, which I highly recommend. We saw Johnny Ness on vocals and guitar with the amazing Michaeloha playing trumpet. House pluses: two refrigerators, three boogie boards, fins, snorkels, booties, crushed ice from the inside fridge, drinking water faucet, HUGE master bedroomâknow that the master bedroom closet connects to the laundry room. LOCK THIS DOOR if you donât want people coming into your closet. (It was unlocked when we came. It is also a good second way to enter if someone is having a video conference in the bedroom and you need to use the bathroom.) There is a guest toilet just north of the laundry room. The TV worked great. Every guest room has a TV and air conditioning and a nice bathroom. We would definitely come again. Hoping for a jacuzzi! Rumor has it that a house is coming next door north. Donât know timing. Manager communication was great.
We LOVED our stay. The open concept of the property with the wind and breaking waves was worth every penny. Our son is in a wheelchair, and the house was fully accessible; this accessibility made our trip even more enjoyable. We would love to return! Thanks for allowing us to have outstanding memories on our family get away!
5 star location & layout - but not the amenities & upkeep
The pictures of oceanside + inside/outside living totally deliver in real life. The spot is amazing and the property is stunning.
But for the very high price you pay, the amenities and quality of experience is mediocre. The kitchen is not well equipped and some basic supplies were missing on our first night of cooking. No cooking oil, no saran wrap, no kitchen towels, etc. Minor things, but at this nightly rate I shouldn't have to drive to the store for the basics. Some burners on the stove were not working, the hot water in the kitchen was out and the lights over the lanai / terrace had a problem.
Given it has been a while since the house and amenities were updated, and we had multiple issues affecting our stay, it seems the house is not kept up to match the price they are charging.
While both the owner and house manager were attentive and the manager came to the house multiple times to resolve issues, they shouldnât have needed to. We stay in many high-end and middle-of-the-road home shares and our takeaway was this place is beautiful and in a phenomenal location, but felt cheap in other ways.
Perfect family retreat. Gracious home thoughtfully appointed and easy to use. The adjacent tidal pools offered great explorations for exploring stay at home days.
As soon as you step through the entry gate you are immediately relaxed by the open air walkway leading to the gorgeous ocean view and sound of crashing waves. The set up of this house is incredible for families or a small group looking to enjoy time together but also have some private space. The location is super convenient and close to town, great restaurants like Magicâs, beaches and grocery stores.
We are a very active family, out during the day diving, fishing or exploring. But starting with Morning coffee by the pool/ocean, then coming home to this gorgeous home never got old. We mixed up going out to dinner and also eating at the houseâŠ.you have the best view right there, no need to leave! We even had a photographer come to take some family pics because the house, scenery, plantings and sunset on the ocean were so special.
Shellese is a wonderful property manager and was on top of every question about Kona or the house that we had. And the property owner, Yarden, was fantastic from before I booked the house, during and after. Nothing but compliments for the process all around.
My only regret itâŠwe should have stayed longer. This is a very special house. If you are considering booking itâŠ.donât hesitate. We will be back!
Kona has a ton to offer if youâre an active family. We used Dave at Kona Concierge. He helped book multiple scuba dives (one night dive with manta rays), fishing, surfing, luau, Mauna KeaâŠ.highly recommend reaching out to him before you go. He made my life a lot easier and fun!

Our family of five loved our stay -- the views were spectacular, the home open and beautiful, and the layout was perfect for our family of five. The boys loved having their own units, and we loved having a beautiful home to relax and recharge. Will absolutely plan to stay here again.
I fell in love with the property as soon as I walked in. Many things make this place one of the most exquisite, awsome homes I have had the privlage of living in. The location of my home, right on the beach, offers a constant contact with the ocean, a view of the Pacific. The ability to sit still and be emmersed in the beauty that is Hawaii watching the spinner dolphines as they swim by, or during the whale season watch the breaching and spraying of those magnificent beings. private and yet close to everythiing Kailua Kona has to offer. And then there is the architectecture and all the thought that went into building this home.
Built on 17 Ohia pillars the house is on one level, the main house as well as the three guests rooms open to a patio giving each bedroom its own intimate privacy with access to the common areas. The large pocket sliding glass doors, when open, create one large open space connecting patio, living area and pool/ocean side. Simple, organic luxury.
