We enjoyed the cottage as a home base for a few days while we explored cliffs, hikes, and finding our old family homestead. The cottage was a cozy warm place to come back to, secluded and away from all the hustle and bustle. We loved it!
Lovely, traditional cottage in a superb location. Very well equipped. Beautiful beach nearby which was ideal for dog walking. Lots to do in Dingle if you're brave enough to travel over the pass.
We had a wonderful holiday in Direen cottage. It is such a cosy and spacious house in a wonderful location. We got to explore lots of gorgeous towns, villages, mountains and beaches.Janet is a brilliant host and we were very thankful for the lovely soda bread and honey that she had for us on arrival.
The property was perfectly located to explore the town of Dingle, and a short drive to the sea. Half hour ride from the cottage over Conner Pass to Dingle was beautiful. The cottage was very spacious, and the kitchen had everything you needed to prepare meals.
I had a great time in Direen Cottage. The cottage was very clean, spacious, and well equipped. Both Janet & Eamonn were lovely and very helpful, Also, the heather honey that Janet left for us was delicious. It was so nice to be able to bring our 2 dogs. The cottage is very close to some amazing beaches and beautiful countryside. I would highly recommend Direen Cottage. I have already booked another visit this year, can't wait to return.
Janet left us delicious honey and eggs from Eamonâs and her farm, much appreciated, and a good supply of peat for the 2 fireplaces (which we didnât need). The âcottageâ is a 3 bedroom house, and was very clean and well supplied.
Enjoyed some breakfasts on the sunny mornings outside.
We enjoyed fishing and walking at Fermoyle Beach, and walks in to Loch Duin, Brandon Point and Glanteenassig Forest. Ireland is lush, and spectacularly beautiful. I hope to return.
The property was a perfect get-away for us. The cottage is like a farmhouse with a large kitchen, three large bedrooms and two bathrooms. It is located about ten minutes from a small village on the ocean with the delightful O'Connor guesthouse/pub we enjoyed. The proximity to the Connor Pass over to Dingle and back made for an adventurous day-trip.
Janet was responsive to our requests and had a lovely welcome treat for us. The home was welcoming and clean.
Direen Cottage is enveloped in a naturalistic style garden which was an absolute joy for our children to explore.
The house itself is very well maintained and obviously cared for, it is homely and welcoming and contains everything you could need for a comfortable holiday.
We loved that the house is in an ideal location for touring the local landscape; Castlegregory, The Maharees, Dingle, Slea Head etc.
Our hosts were friendly and communicative and the welcome gift of locally produced artisan brown bread and Heather honey was a heartwarming touch.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and very much hope to return.
I and a friend and colleague have now made three visits to Direen for a combination of business and holiday reasons. We have been impressed by the high levels of comfort offered by the amenities with a feeling of welcome and homeliness (eg the books and games that are available in the parlour). The cottage has been an ideal base for exploring and comforting to return to if the weather hasn't been too good - although on the whole it's been lovely, even out of season, for most of the time. There is a ground floor wet room for returning surfers (local huge surf beach very near by) or for people unable to use the stairs - there is also the possibility of using a ground floor bedroom although disabled access may be difficult for some, owing to small steps into the house. The owners have invariably been welcoming, kind and helpful and we have recommended the property to friends and family - we hope to return next year as a larger group. Local archaeology is superb as are the geology, marine life and scenery. Dingle has lovely restaurants and shops and Fungi the dolphin - always great to see him. Direen is now one of our favourite destinations.
Direen cottage provides easy access to both the bustling town of Dingle and the quieter Brandon Bay side of the peninsula. The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Janet responded quickly to any questions we had. We hope to visit again someday.
Wonderfully appointed historic cottage. Plenty of room for our 4 guests with room to spare. Quiet spot in the woods with a creek right next to us along with a rope swing for the kids, or adults if they so please. The book of local activities was greatly appreciated, as was the history of the cabin.
Immediately after arrival we felt at home. A cozy place for a family holiday perfect to take a break from the daily routine. Definitely coming back again.
Our 2 week vacation at the beautiful stone home in Cloghane was Awesome. The home was very clean and the heating system was perfect, always very comfortable. What I loved about the home most was the privacy.
There are no other homes nearby so it was
The perfect Get-Away home. If you want to get into the village of Cloghane it only takes 5 mins by car, we loved to walk to the village breathing in the air and taking in all the sites at a slower pace. If you want to do shopping Dingle was 20 min away. Dingle is great for shopping and visiting the pubs and restaurants,. One night we went to hear local Irish tradition music at Killigans pub,I highly recommend visiting there and have a pint or 2 of Guinness. The Brandon, Cloghane area have the most beautiful country side I have ever seen. You have the mountains to your back and the Wild Atlantic Ocean in front of you. Fermoyle beach is just down the road where people surf and kite board.,We loved the home and area so much we plan on going back and staying for a month. Next year. That says it all I think.
Direen Cottage provided a cozy and convenient location for us to explore the whole Dingle Peninsula. Only 15 minutes over the Conor Pass to Dingle, or a five minute drive to beautiful sandy Fermoyle Beach. Quiet and comfortable.
The house was a great base for us to visit all our favourite places and very practical. It had everything we needed although if it had been wet, a dryer would have been useful with children and wet towels etc. Everything worked well and the beds were very comfortable. A great house and a lovely holiday. Thank you very much.
We were a group of 6 adults and have plenty of space in this warm comfortable cottage both inside and outside. It is very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. We appreciated the food which Janet left for our arrival. We had a lovely time and hope to be back.
Eamonn born and lived all his life in Brandon farming the family farm. Janet born in England and moved to Brandon when she married Eamonn in 1982. They have a family of 4 sons. Eamonn and Janet work the farm and sell local produce of veg, honey and eggs through the local Dingle Market.
