Great place to stay in a terrific location. A few minute walk to the pools, and a few more across to the beach. Clean place, well designed for what we were looking for, and super responsive to questions.
We are experienced beach rental people and this is a fabulous condo. Classy, clean and everything you need. Walk to Hampton is shorter for beach and pool access and it's pretty quick (or you can drive for 30 seconds). Took us a while to find the access codes on the fridge! Only thing I'd love to see is a little more shade on the back patio so we could enjoy the lagoon after being in the sun all day.
Our family had a much needed family vacation and our rented property was perfect! The home was exactly as it showed online, clean and well prepared. The communication was exceptional before, during and after our week. In fact, there was a short electrical power outage in our area and I received a timey text with information. Check-in and check-out was simple and straight forward. Thank you!
We've been to HH several times, but this was our first stay in Palmetto Dunes. The villa was beautiful and perfect for our family of 5 adults. The kitchen was fully stocked, the living room was spacious and comfortable, and the beds were good too. (We only had one minor complaint about the bedding--the sheets in the upstairs bedroom were very scratchy.)
The location of the villa is perfect. It is such a nice area and the access to Hampton Place is literally a 5 minute walk away. We walked to the beach every day and it was an easy walk, as long as you weren't taking a whole bunch of stuff to the beach. We packed light and it was fine. The beach was beautiful and never crowded. The 2 pools at Hampton Place were very nice and also never crowded. Lounge chairs at the pool were always available. The only thing missing at the pool/beach was a snack bar. We rented bikes and enjoyed riding to shelter cove and surrounding areas. Although you can bike ride to the grocery store, we felt that it was necessary to have a car. It's fun to visit the other plantations and without a car you are very limited.
While we were there we had a clogged drain in the master bathroom shower. We called the manager and they sent someone out the same day to fix it. We also had some problems with the internet in one of the bedrooms, which we didn't ask to be fixed b/c we weren't using it.
I would highly recommend this villa. It is clean, well-kept and the location is great! Make sure you visit shelter cove and eat at Poseidon while you are there. Check out Sea Pines for the nightly entertainment and shopping and take a short drive to Caligny for ice cream, mini golf and more shopping. Great for families of all ages!!
We really enjoyed our stay. After 21 years, we sold last year a house close to the beach on Hilton Head. This was our first visit back to the island. The condo was immaculate and comfortable. The lagoon view was very nice.
Didn't love the louvered doors leading to the master bath; thought they were weird. And the shower glass doors need to be flipped 180 degrees so the door does not open directly against the shower head. Other than theses points, no problems and highly recommend this unit for families with kids in tow,
The walk to the beach is longer than the 3 minutes advertised; 6 - 8 minutes is more like it.
We stayed in another Abbington Thanksgiving 2019 and loved it, quiet, serene lagoon side and easy access to beach. Loved the new kitchen appliances, will stay here again
Hilton Head was where we vacationed with our children as they grew up. We are now vacationing with our grandchildren !
It is very fun and relaxing. Beaches are lovely and we had perfect weather for riding bikes and enjoying the ocean.
Very nice unit in a great location. Clean and well-maintained, about a 5 minute walk to the beach with access to a very nice pool across the way. The only knock is that the upstairs room (which has two twin beds and is the natural place to put little kids) is about 5-10 degrees warmer than downstairs, and is also joined to the main space by some louvered windows, meaning that if it's loud in the common space, it's loud in the kids' room. Not a problem during our stay but if you wanted to hang out in the common room after kids' bedtime it might be an issue.
Overall, we had a great experience in this condo. As mentioned in other reviews the lagoon view was amazing, we loved the pool at the Hampton. Beach access was easy, the walk is about 3-4 minutes. As the previous review stated TV and WiFi access is weak and spotty. Two other VERY minor issues...the sheets on the beds are horrible!!!. The second minor issue was that on check out day the cleaning crew showed up an hour and half before our check out time while we were loading our car. They waited in their car while we loaded the car and organized to leave on our drive. It was a little unnerving. I can understand if we were close to check out time but this was serious ridiculous. Again...these were minor issues, WiFi probably the most important. The condo had tons of amenities in addition to those offered by Palmetto Dunes. I was always a Pawley's Island fan but I'm seriously in love with Palmetto Dunes/Hilton Head.
We had a delightful stay. The unit was immaculate and so tastefully decorated. We loved the lagoon location, as we had daily gator & bird spottings. The furnishings was comfortable, and the unit was quiet and private. Never any noise picked up on, by neighbors.
Our only (very minor) complaint is that the TV signal was quite weak at times (guessing it was satellite) and cut in and out frequently, throughout the day.
Also, it was not mentioned until our arrival (within notice on the washing machine) that beach access was located at Hampton Place, and forbidden through the Windsor properties. To look on a map, we thought we could walk directly across for quick beach access. This was a bit disappointing, but we were still thrilled with the unit.
I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to share a week with my family in this lovely condo unit. As opposed to mostly rentals that have old floral couches from the 80's and are often filled with misfit and leftover items for abuse in a rental unit, this home was created and designed, from the paint to the furniture to the owners intention with love, and with the hope that any renter would honor the place as much as they have put into detail furnishing it.
It was as nice a unit as any in the complex (our family owned a unit a few years back) and with the quick walks to the pool and beach, there are no steps to go up, no elevators to come up and down. Just a street to cross, and a few hundred yards and you are on the beach.
Thank you for allowing us to enjoy this property, and we hope it the opportunity is there, we can come visit again.
