It was VERY quiet. For us it was centrally located to all the areas we wanted to hike. The decor was absolutely amazing. Each day we would notice something we had missed the previous days.We would most definitely stay there again
Cabin is exactly as pictured. Beautiful decor, and a very homey feel! This was the best experience I've ever had booking a VRBO, from start to finish. The host was very responsive, the pricing was fair, and the cabin was very clean.
The home is filled with very nice personal and thoughtful decor. We very much enjoyed our stay and appreciate the cleanliness and warmth that the owners have taken time to fill the inside with.
This is a great place for a stay in the Burlington area.
What a wonderful setting to get away from it all yet be close to everything you could possibly need or want. This little cottage is an embrace as you are drawn into its warmth.
Great place to be and live for a few days so close to the Causeway with short day trips to Sisters of Anarchy Ice Cream, Healthy Living for groceries, Shelburne Farms, and Burlington Church Street Marketplace. Cottonwood in the air added to the wonder and charm
We had a wonderful time at Baxterâs Hideaway! Easy access to the lake and causeway, comfortable beds, and beautifully curated decor. All photos of this listing are very accurate.
Unfortunately, it rained all weekend and we werenât able to take advantage of the great location close to the lake and causeway. Hope to come back another time when the weather is more cooperative so we can bike and kayak.
Our second stay at Baxter's Hideaway was just as wonderful as the first. Albert is very responsive. The property very clean and well-equipped. The proximity to the bike trail is great. With beautiful weather we meandered along Church Street Marketplace in Burlington each night (highly recommend!). If you want to eat dinner in Burlington we recommend making reservations well in advance. We will definitely return again next fall!
The comfort, location, and charm of this place were unparalleled for how we wanted to spend our wedding anniversary. The view from causeway over Malletâs Bay is a must see and proximity to Burlington was convenient enough for daily trips into town. The area is very clean and well cared for, but we did do some litter removal on our causeway walks to help shield the bay and its inhabitants. We would love to see others follow suit (when, of course, it is safe to do so)
We very much enjoyed our stay at Baxterâs Hidaway. The decor was very interesting and engaging. The kitchen had everything we needed and we ate breakfast and dinner here each day. We loved how close to the causeway we were and the neighborhood was charming. It made it easy to get a walk in every day. The beds were super comfy as was the couch. All the chairs were nice to sit in and we really had a good time here. We took day trips out on our motorcycle and spent the evenings at the cozy cabin. Thanks!
Cabin-like rental across the street from the lake and a 2-3 minute's walk to the causeway. Bed is comfortable, and there is a nice deck out front and there are kayaks, which we not able to use, but it's a nice feature.
A few caveats: if you have mobility issues, you might want to avoid this place because you have to walk on grass a fair stretch to get from the driveway. The bathroom is not that private: the ceiling is completely open. There were also a lot of mosquitos.
This place is very cool and the location is great. The kitches has everything you would need. Kayaks are nice but there is a steep staircase to get the the rocky water. Big problem is that there is only a partial wall to the bathroom. No ceiling. Not much privacy. A/C was ok at best on a very hot day. Needed to walk across a wet lawn to get to the house which is behind another house.
Elizabeth and I really had a lovely time. The house was warm and welcoming, and had an endearing, quirky feel. The location was ideal, with Lake Champlain a stone's throw away. We rested, made delicious dinners, sampled the local cuisine (Leunig's!!!), kayaked, strolled, and took daily bicycle rides. The house was comfy (mostly) and we enjoyed the variety of visual stimuli that comprised the decorations and furnishings of the property. There are a few "suggestions" to share, but those will be done privately. It's hard to imagine not having a restful vacation here.
The property I think is as described and the location by the causeway is pretty fantastic, that is the big draw. Being able to walk/ride out to the causeway is excellent.
Little things though marred the experience for me. Tiny coffee machine that is a little broken (top falls off, often into cup as you pour) - very cheap and can only make 2 cups. No coffee filters provided. Toaster is tiny, cheap and a bit hard to use. There is no established path so you are just trotting about 50 yards across a field and muddy patches. The parking up on the grass also is less than ideal.
Also the lack of shampoo and conditioner was a tad frustrating. The left about 1/2 of what you needed.
Still I did like many of the little touches of the home, neat little wall pieces.
Location was secluded, quick access to the causeway which we enjoyed. Power went out our last night, but it wasn't long before it came back on. The quiet was blissful!!
Thank you!
Overall, the stay was great! We swam in the lake across the street, rode our bikes on the Colchester Causeway, and along the Burlington Bikepath to a quiet beach. The house was clean and welcoming.
Thank you!
We had a wonderful week at the cabin, perfectly located and accurately listed. Hosts were easily available. Could not have asked for a better Vermont location and vacation.
