I spent three nights here because of the proximity to the bike path and wasnât disappointed. Itâs a cute summer getaway neighborhood. The bed was comfortable, AC worked great, relaxing sun room when the weather cooled, bonus that there was a guitar.Burlington is half hour bike ride south down the path, and heading north takes you to the bike ferry to the island, which is how I spent one day.Itâs an old summer cottage so once you adjust your expectations, itâs great. There was no smoke smell or anything like that like someone reviewed. Definitely recommend this place.
Unique and eclectic property that the owner has clearly put a lot of thought into and located in a great place. Unfortunately, despite it being listed as non-smoking clearly past occupants had used it for this and the unit smelled, smoke odor permeated everything.
The cottage was perfect for our bike trip, the trail was accessible from the cottage.
The decor inside the cottage was awesome and we enjoyed our stay.
The location is excellent, especially if you are biking in the area.
For 2 people the house size is perfect. The decor is a bit eclectic. The owner was very responsive.
Running away from the heat in CT. Was a very nice getaway..Area was very quiet, Easy to find. would recommend. Would do away with slippery bathroom rug.
The owner seems nice ,but theCabin was in need of cleaning there were dust bunnies in most of the corners . The bathroom smelled of urine ,Not unbearable but noticeable. The location is EXCELLENT !
The location is perfect. The house had all the necessary essentials. Good size.Use of the owners kayaks are a blessing ⊠we biked the Causway from right outside our door to Burlington! Great for the price! I have stayed on Lake Champlain several times. Love it
We had to cancel at the last minute and Albert handled it with his usual friendliness and professionalism. We missed staying at his wonderful cottage and hope to be back next year.
My wife and I enjoyed our stay at Albert's place. It was very clean, and well-stocked from the kitchen, to the bedroom and bathroom. The location (steps from the Colchester Causeway and bike path into Burlington) was perfect. We did have one small issue with the house that Albert took care of pronto. Great house with a great owner, I highly recommend this property.
Well equiped house in a very quiet environment. It is not the most modern house in the life but it was ok. The only negative comment we have is that we were annoyed by the droplets falling from the roof on the air conditionner outside the bedroom (please do something) all night long (it rained a little in the evening). Otherwise it was perfect.
This is an adorable cottage in a nice location. You walk a little bit down the road and up a path to the beautiful bike path/causeway that overlooks the lake on both sides. We walked it everyday and saw amazing sunsets. There is a nice charcoal grill and we enjoyed a fire in the fire pit which has a lake view as the cottage sits up high across the road. The area is wonderful with Burlington close by and the scenery of Grand Isle and North and South Hero. The owners/managers are very nice and responsive to your needs. I would only suggest the addition of a little microwave next to the stove for reheating coffee etc. We love the area and hope to go back there in the future.
We had traveled to the area, in hopes of seeing the Northern Lights. We read that Mallets Bay was a top location, due to minimal light pollution. It was a dark new moon weekend, but overcast and there didn't seem to be any actual solar activity. There was also much more light pollution than we expected. That said, we enjoyed our weekend in the Burlington area and might return to this property for kayaking & summer activities. It is a -frills home, but was spotlessly clean and comfy. The heater was noisy, so we closed the bed room door. This made the bedroom cool, but the comforter and bed were very comfortable. Our only beef was that the guitar was out of tune and a picture was crooked ;-) . Enjoy!
Let me start by saying that this cabin is perfectly fine and a very good price. The location is very convenient to the bike trail, although the path to the lake & kayaks is pretty treacherous. They do not charge a âcleaning feeâ, so I can forgive the dead bugs in all the windows and the overgrown garden.
My major issues with this listing are the inaccuracies.
Most importantly, this is NOT a true 2 bedroom. The second bedroom is actually a den with the only access to the only bathroom. They put glass doors (no curtain) on the entry and called it a bedroom. This meant that the âbedroomâ had ZERO privacy. For some groups, this would work. It did not work for us.
Other mis-advertised Amenities:
Washer â actually a laundromat 7 minutes away
AC â only in the primary bedroom.
Deck/patio â just a fire pit in the grass
Charming cabin just across small road to Lake Champlain. Pleasant spot, though minimal direct view of lake, due to early summer foliage. Nice firepit and Adirondack chairs alongside firepit. Ck in was a little awkward, as it was chilly, and owner had set gas heater on 64 degrees. Intro note at property requested tenants Not adjust temp, so we called owner. He came over and turned up heat. HOWEVER, the obviously old gas heater was Very noisy. So much so that it was impossible to listen to music. Called owner back. His solution -- frankly, after a bit of shoulder shrugging -- was to fetch a plug-in radiator from another of his properties next door. That, along with ceiling fan, worked okay...though we sometimes also needed gas oven on cold mornings. The oven definitely needed cleaning, however, so had to leave on fan and slightly open a few windows to minimize oven odors. Bottom line: cabin Definitely needs a heater upgrade.
Advertised access to canoe/kayak wasn't completely accurate, as they were positioned on a rack, alongside a 5-6 ft high rock ledge, adjacent the lakeshore. There was narrow metal stairway leading down the ledge to the water. It would seem that using the kayak/canoe would require somehow lowering down the stairs? In our view, that would be a cumbersome job, even for 2 people. Other than the above, the property was charming and comfortable.
This is a wonderful location near the Causeway and access to the lake while very quiet neighborhood. The property was clean and ready for use. The smaller bedroom has an awkward access to the bathroom limiting privacy. Great for a couple.
A great little cottage with everything you need for a comfortable stay
I had a great experience at this property! It was the perfect place to watch the eclipse, and made a a great home base. I was pleasantly surprised at how well stocked the kitchen was, as far as dining ware and cookware goes. We needed to call Albert to turn up the heat, but he arrived promptly and was very pleasant to interact with. We loved the decor of the place, and would love to return if we find ourselves in the neighborhood again.
