Communication was excellent, check-in was easy (key in lockbox), and cabin exceeded my expectations. I especially enjoyed the vintage kitchen. I had the opportunity to meet the host (Jim) and enjoyed talking with him about the history of the property and surrounding area. Thank you, Jim, for a very memorable experience!
Check in process was super easy and the place was very cozy and clean! The host provided plenty of amenities and items for guests to use as needed and had clearly labeled everything with easy to follow instructions. They were also very easy and quick to communicate with! My only complaint is the kitchen felt very basic and could use a little upgrade in terms of what is provided for use
Be prepared for the worst road you've ever been on. Not for sissies. If you are in a hurry, stay home. Fallen Leaf is a jewel for those who want to slow down and have a quiet break.
We were impressed with the cleanliness, accuracy of description, and general location. The owner was extremely responsive and helpful. We will definitely visit again!
Desolation wilderness, Lake Tahoe and Fallen Leaf Lake are so beautiful. We had perfect weather and few crowds after the Labor Day weekend. The cabin is a perfect location to visit them all. Thanks for sharing...
The cabin was very comfortable with lots of very thoughtful touches. We felt very much like guests in a very nice guest home instead of a customer in a hotel. The vaulted ceilings makes the space feel much larger than what the square footage shows. The hosts/owners are great.
Great Quiet Getaway, just close enough to S Lake Tahoe
The property is great for a secluded get away, close enough to go to dinner and/or gambling. We rode our bikes around the area of both lakes for a couple of days. We never got down to the lake to use the paddle boards, etc. but know that they were available w/life vests in the cabin for use.
The cabin itself is a little cluttered BUT everything is available for guests to use and it is well stocked with everything from coffee to shampoo. The lack of window coverings in the living room is a little off-putting, we would have liked to have had a little fire a hang out there but we would have liked privacy, it felt too exposed. The table & front porch are delightful for eating out.
A couple of things I would change...sheets/pillow cases were set out on the bed, we had to make the bed after a full day river rafting and a late arrival. I've never seen this before nor ever expected the guests to do this on arrival.
There is not really a tv, just a monitor with a built in dvd player, even hooking up a laptop to stream anything wasn't possible. The break turned out to be a plus.
The owner was VERY responsive when we texted with questions, rarely necessary with instructions posted everywhere. The need for that is understandable, for guests unfamiliar with living in a cabin in the woods, lots of instruction is necessary.
All in all a wonderful place and a wonderful stay!
Host was very clear with rules and expectations for the cabin and HMO regulations. The cabin was wall stocked with all necessary items, even things folks may have forgotten. Will definitely be returning here!
We had a lovely stay. The location was unbeatable. Jim was kind and helpful . Paddling on the lake was a must. The cabin is much cuter than pictured. Cozy, wooden inside. Good lighting. Tiny Christmas/4th of July tree in the corner, fire burning stove, interesting knick knacks all added to the charm. Comfortable and perfect for our weekend getaway. Thank you Jim.
My family and I have stayed here several years running, and we keep coming back because it's fantastic! The owner is super easy to get in touch with and is very accommodating. The cabin has everything you need for vacation. We're looking forward to next year!
The cabin is very nicely equipped and the area is fantastic. We had a very nice time and recommend strongly this place. The communication with Jim was easy and friendly. No hesitation !
This cabin was perfect for our Lake Tahoe weekend. We took advantage of the wood stove during our stay! Fallen Leaf Lake is beautiful and another thing worth doing while visiting Tahoe.
The property was just as describe in the listing. We had an issue while there and the owner came up and handled it the best we could have expected. He responded quickly when I contacted him initially as well.
My girls loved the kayaks and swimming in fallen leaf lake. It was great to have a place away from the crowds to enjoy. We are looking forward to going back and trying out some of the water toys we didnât get to. We arrived at night and were able to find the place in the dark as it was marked well. There are also a number of hikes very close to the cabin that are not too popular and beautiful. My kids stayed on the couches and said they were comfortable. If you have a clear night make a point of heading down to the dock to look at the stars, gorgeous! There are so many fewer lights here than even in town, so it is spectacular.
Access to the lake is a hike and down a steep bank to a small dock - no beach. Owner was camped in front yard. On site were his camper and two trucks. The front deck is unstable and few windows open for heat relief on the inside. The TV is CD only and there is minimal kitchen equipment. We left after the first night of a five night stay. Owner refused refund of any kind.
My daughter was working on the lake so we were looking for a place nearby to her. The location was perfect for that. The owner, Jim, is very responsive, helpful and kind. The house has all the amenities you expect from a Vrbo - full kitchen, extra sheets and towels, etc. You can tell that Jim really cares about the house and property. The bed is comfortable, the water pressure and hot water good, etc. I would definitely stay here again if I wanted to be near Fallen Leaf Lake (which is spectacular). Amazing hikes, beautiful water, etc.
A few notes - the pictures are accurate. As others have said, the house is clean but it is a bit dimly lit which I am not used to. And others have mentioned ventilation - they did make the doors so they could open but they don't have screens so in the summer I still only opened the kitchen and bathroom windows, which have screens. It was fine when we were there, but adding screens would be really nice. The dock is a communal one a few hundred yards down the road and then down a trail. We didn't use it because my daughter is on crutches. So it takes some effort to get there but it is very nice to have access to the lake.
Great find. Had a wonderful experience. The property owner was friendly and transparent. A couple of recommendations would be to get blinds/curtains on the living room and kitchen windows. And a larger refrigerator and stove. Overall, this place was great and I would recommend.
The cabin has a very convenient location near Fallen Leaf Lake and several trails, has everything to spend time indoors. The road is a bit bumpy, but still doable with a compact car.
Such a quaint little cabin, it was just like it was described. We watched sunset from the community dock each night. Such a relaxing get away! The host was awesome! We would definitally stay here again!
It's just my wife and me, this cabin is perfect. The living room is quite large, kitchen is fine. Very short walk to common dock, where we would hang out with wine/cheese/bread while watching the sun set over the mountains.
