There was major yard work that included chopping down trees, jack hammering out cement, and grinding out tree stumps. All of this occurred directly outside our window. The work lasted 6 days and went from between 7 & 8 am until 5 or 6pm. My husband was working and had to deal with all the noise. He had to adjust his work schedule to accomplish his job. This work was not disclosed to us at any point. The work just started one day without warning. Also, the back part of the yard where our dog was supposed to play/do his business was covered in chopped down trees for 10+ days.
The laundry facilities, which were presented in the original pictures as part of our unit, was shared laundry in the main house. This was not disclosed in the listing but has since been changed to say âsharedâ. In addition, the laundry facilities were unavailable at the start of our stay, and I ended up at the local laundry mat. Thus, we incurred the cost to clean our clothes, sheets, and towels. Not to mention the inconvenience of spending a couple hours at a laundry mat while on vacation.
The original VBRO pictures showed a full-size refrigerator that was also presented as part of our unit. The picture is now removed from the ownerâs pictures. We had a small dormitory refrigerator inside our unit.
We ended up buying our own pans for cooking, as the pans provided were old and unusable. We tried them for two days and gave up.
The unit had many spiders, roaches, and ants. There was ant spray under the sink which we used several times.
There are two other rooms being rented at the main house. One off the garden and one off the shared laundry facilities. Three different renters stayed in the room off the laundry area in the 3.5 weeks we were there. We were not aware there would be other renters at the property. We had no issues with any of the 3 renters off the laundry area. However, we had several encounters with the renter of the garden room. She was verbally abusive to us on several occasions all unprovoked, while we used the common area to sit or grill our dinner. She came out and screamed at us, as she wanted us to stay on the patio by our unit which we a most of the time. She never spoke to us in a normal tone of voice. She just yelled.
For anyone renting in the future, please be aware the owner has plans on building an additional building in the back part of the property. The construction will affect your stay.
I had a very enjoyable time at this property! Everything is accurate about the description, the host George is very attentive and friendly. Would definitely stay again without any hesitation!
My husband and I loved the location. George is super helpful. The studio is charming and comfortable. The location is great for walking to restaurants, shops, and the beach. We will likely try to stay again.
Check in was easy, beautiful home in a great location. Comfy bed and nice shower, though the tap doesnât turn off all the way and youâll hear it dripping. He let us use their bikes too! Very limited kitchen utensils. Found ants on the kitchen counter the second day, told the host, and he didnât respond, but put a can of Raid outside for us. Youâll probably have ants if you stay here, but if youâre okay with a quick bug spray fix, youâll be okay. Would be nice if the host would fix that issue. Overall, nice stay and only about a 5 min bike ride to the beach.
This was a getaway trip for a some R&R and fun. The house was very comfortable and has a great energy. It turned out to be more than what we expected. The neighborhood is so peaceful, we were happy just hanging at the house. We will definitely return. George was friendly and very prompt in responding to me at anytime.
We liked that it was quiet, had our own private patio and the bed was very comfortable. George few up in the island and was a great host. The property was an easy walk to the beach and close to Orange street as well. It's a great option to stay on Coronado.
Such a great place to stay for our weekend get away. Super neat little guest house with a private yard and outside eating area, close to the beach, and close to a lot of yummy dining! We were so stoked to find this! It was perfect for our 2 dogs and my partner and I. Accidentally messed up the check in time but George was very kind about it and let us check in a bit early. Thank you so much for letting us stay! 10/10 recommend
Perfect for a single person and her dog .. simple amenities .. great neighborhood ..
Nice place .. comfortable bed .. simple amenities but doable .. love the neighborhood and proximity to all that is Coronado .. would stay there again !
Lovely property in a centrally-located part of town.
The property is in a great location with easy parking and access. Nice outside area for dining, reading or relaxing. Very easy to communicate with George and he was responsive. Laundry on site which was a nice perk!
George was great to work with. We arrived & he met us to go over security codes, show us where we could store our bicycles, inquire as to if we had any other needs. Iâm picky & asked for more pillows & he was so kind, patient & immediately got what I asked for. We also enjoy slow cooked meals and George came back in a minute with a large crockpot. The bathroom is great plenty of room & an abundance of hot water for our showersâïžWe enjoyed a nice private outdoor garden area. Grilled at least weekly on our own gas grill. We bicycled around Coronado 4-5 days a week & it was easy-peasy to open the garden gate & begin our rides. Our bikes were always locked securely in the garage. George is a wonderful host. We enjoyed our stay in his efficiency studio apartment.
I was hoping the other reviews for this listing were just flukes. They were not. My review is going to be so bad you might be tempted to think itâs an exaggeration...IT ISNT. We had to buy new towels, pillows and used our own sheets. We had to clean the entire studio upon arriving. Trust the bad reviews here people, or you will regret it as we did. Iâm sure we could have talked to the host about our issues, but as we were staying a month and had to see him in passing we wanted to avoid an uncomfortable situation. Thatâs definitely our bad, but based on the other reviews and the hosts response I didnât see any point. Shame really, could be a nice place.
Pros: Host seemed nice enough.
Charming house, in a great location.
Cons: The studio was disgusting when we arrived. So much dog hair on the floor/furniture it was actually unbelievable. The shower (and we assumed the rest of the bathroom) had clearly not been cleaned. COCKROACH in the kitchen cabinets/dirty countertops. Cobwebs. Pillows that stunk so bad we couldnât use them. Blood stain on sheets. Dingy bath towels.
Broken window (still...another guest already brought this up)
Broken/improperly functioning âsleep numberâ bed was the most uncomfortable bed Iâve ever slept in.
No privacy curtains so you are basically on display, especially when youâre in bed.
Iâm sure there is more, but you get the picture.
Owner was not maintaining this unit, broken furniture throughout, broken kitchen utensils, disposal wasn't connected, broken windows, no paper towells, no tissues, no propane tank on the gas grill, no private parking, contrary to what the listing said - I had to park on the street. Lack of privacy, the owner rents out rooms in the main house to other guests who trudge back and forth to the garage to get their bikes all day, going right through your supposedly private patio. Sheer curtains on those windows facing the garage, so they can look right in. No screen door, no air conditioning, so expect lots of flies when you open the door for ventilation and it gets hot. Owner George is nice enough and recognized he had work to do, so after a long talk, he agreed to refund my deposit for the next month and I vacated so he could get to work. Hopefully, he will take care of these issues, the place has potential and it is in a good location.
We came back again!! And loved it!! My fur babies are so content here as I am. Kennedy the owners dog has a crush on my Gracie. So cute. This stay I had to go to the ER on my last night and that was quite scary and challenging to say the least. George offered help and he let my dogs out as for I was in the ER very long and middle of the night. By the time I got home is was 3 am and I had to be checked out for other tenants were checking in. I was in no condition to drive back to AZ , so George and Signe offered me and my fur babies to stay in there home. How sweet and nice was that? When I stayed in Dec/Jan. I told Them I knew the had good hearts, boy I was correct!! I always 99% correct. Can't wait to come back again!! Sooooon!

Take a lovely walk by the nearby famous Del Coronado Hotel or partake of Coronado Village.
Central location, private courtyard with BBQ, part of an elegant 1920s Spanish home on one of Coronado's most desirable streets and access to laundry facilities in the main house.
