The Appleyard is a unique colonial retreat that is part museum, part vacation home, and part cozy homestead. My dog Hudson and I had an incredible five days there. We hosted a couple of my former students one afternoon and we had an unforgettable experience. The endless fields and woods that surround the property certainly enhance the experience.
Comfortable and ample beds. Outdoor screened in porch is pretty much where we spent most of our time. Town of Kent just a few minutes away with good restaurants and a few nice stores. Definitely walkable. Due to rainy weather we werenât able to visit the beach but understand itâs not too far away.
What a wonderful rental! We came here to visit our son in Kent, which was an easy 10 minute drive up the road. Every room in the house is special, and this was a super comfortable and roomy house for our family. Will definitely look to rent this next time we come to Kent for a visit. Great communication with the owner as well, very very pleased.
The house worked out great for us - the screened in porch was fantastic on such a nice weekend. The owners were very responsive and helpful for any of the issues that cropped up.
We had a lovely time at Appleyard. The house was exactly as described. Clean, charming and spacious. Tom was great to work with. We would definitely stay again
This property has the best enclosed back porch and yard for family getaways. The house also offers a ton of vintage charm and history. Our thanks to Pat and Tom for their hospitality.
We had a wonderful weekend stay! The house was very clean, the location was tucked away and you couldn't hear the cars on the road from inside. The porch at the back of the house was our favorite part! There was plenty of room for everyone, and the outdoor shower was a cool feature. Communication with the property manager was easy and we received quick responses. I would highly recommend this lovely home for anyone traveling to this area to stay.
We stayed here for the weekend during our son's graduation from South Kent. Easy access and loved the screened-in-porch. Charming old home with many nooks and crannies.
The home was lovely. Well laid out and spacious. Ideal for a family gathering, with a great back porch and yard. Plus we got to bring our golden retrievers too! Thank you!
We spent a long weekend at this home with our two boys and pet labradoodle. The house is well decorated and cared for - it was clean and had everything we could need. There was a beautiful fireplace and we brought firewood for the fire. The pictures do a good job representing the house. We would visit again!
We have rented a number of great properties but this one is the best yet. The property is lovely and the house is gorgeous but very comfortable and extremely well-appointed. We enjoyed the screened porch and outdoor fire pit very much. The surrounding area is beautiful with great hiking and some lovely restaurants and shops in nearby Kent. We visited during the fall foliage season. Absolutely beautiful! We highly recommend this property and hope to stay in it again next year!
My husband and I along with our 2 small doggies had a delightful time at this family home. Loved the large screened in porch and lilacs were blooming in the back yard! Comfortable bed in MBR. Large table in the dining room where we set up a picture puzzle.
Loved our time at this special dollhouse. Plenty of room for our family to be together prior to our sonâs wedding in Warren. Upon entering you know it is a well-loved home. I recommend this property for your next get away. Thank you for sharing it with us. SL
We spent the whole time outside or in the screened area so the indoor decor didnât matter.
Outdoor firepit area is nice.
The screened-in living room and outdoor shower were great ways to beat the heat.
Good outdoor privacy.
The grass and shrubbery was a bit overgrown but not an issue.
Upstairs sleeping areas and bathrooms were very accommodating.
We had a lovely weekend at The Appleyard. The home is spacious and charming, with a well-equipped chefâs kitchen (including Wolf range) and *amazing* screened porch. We took advantage of the fire pit, and the kids loved the expansive backyard and swings, slide, and climbing playset. The house is right off a main road so we couldnât let our energetic and free-spirited dog run off-leash, but he nonetheless loved watching nature from the peace of the screened porch. Overall a great stay!
Very few lodging opportunities near Kent, CT. This is a unique victorian property filled with many antiques and original hardwood floor and many dollhouses. We fully enjoyed our stay here but caution families that it will be best enjoyed by those who love tradition and solitude. It is within 5 miles of downtown Kent but all amenities have to coke from there.
You will not be disappointed. Three full Bathrooms three full baths, Fantastic screened in porch, outdoor shower and fire pit. the house would be perfect for a family reunion, ski vacation or couples weekend for festivities in Kent or Lake Waramug.
