Built in 1782 the Abel Darling House is nestled in the Litchfield historic district within steps of the Litchfield Green, restaurants and boutique shops. The first floor offers a living room, den, dining room, country kitchen, cozy sitting room with a wood stove and one ensuite bedroom. On the second floor there are two ensuite bedrooms and three guest bedrooms that share a full bathroom. The back porch leads to the gardens and fire pit. There are six parking spaces in the front and rear.
Three generations of our family wanted to stay all together for a holiday in Litchfield, and this beautiful historic home was the perfect place. We absolutely loved all the history and character of the Darling House, and it was very clean and comfortable for everyone from the grandmother to the youngest kids. The proximity to Litchfield center was super convenient, and the playground across the street came in handy more than one morning. Would definitely stay here again!
my family of 10 stayed at the Darling House for 5 days to attend our wedding at Raymond Family Farm. The host, Hal, was the best. He happened to be in the area and we invited him over. The best advice he gave me when i told him we were all adults(50 years and older) and he didn't have to worry about the house getting trashed his reply was I'm in that age range and to let them play! The house was roomy to accommodate the 10 that were staying there plus those that came after the wedding to celebrate! Very private, large back yard, plenty of chairs for everyone. Those staying there were very pleased. The house was furnished with everything you needed. Thank you Hal for letting us stay and celebrate in a great house!
