Three of us all in our sixties wanted a weekend away in the country and opted for the Trentham/Daylesford area. We were lucky to find a hidden gem in Barryâs Reef just outside of Trentham. The house is basic but very comfortable. The heating system is excellent. We had both central heating and a wood fired stove. We each had our own bedroom and a comfy lounge, kitchen and sitting room area. It was a joy to feed the cockies and parrots out on the deck. Surrounded by classic Aussie bush land it was a real treat. It is a great getaway destination with so many tourist attractions and dining options nearby. Thanks for our lovely stay
The kangaroos in the bush and the cockatoos and parrots were lovely to witness so close
The wood heater was appreciated in the cold spring weather
The furniture is tired and disappointing the TV wasnât working
The bushland views were wonderful from the deck and the lounge room window
I had a lovely 3 night stay with my two small dogs. The house was lovely and warm, 10 mins from Trentham, lovely walks near by. I enjoyed putting seed out for the birds. The cockatooâs and rosellas are beautiful!!
Excellent Stay with Everything we needed and more!!
Everything we needed was provided and some extra goodies which were greatly appreciated! Feeding the birds in the morning was a great experience and the whole experience was great! House was so warm from the wood heater and we all had a great stay! Thanks for everything :)
Loved the amenities, all first aid, fire blankets, heaps of kitchen stuff, biscuits and coffee. Was able to use the puppy pen to keep the pup on the decking. She enjoyed a run up the fire trails before bed. House was cosy which was needed in the frost
Cosy & Compact with spacious deck with the Wombat State Forest across the road!
We only stayed 1 night in very cold wet weather but the house was cosy & warm with an efficient wood burner (plenty of wood provided) & reverse ducted heating. Fully equipped kitchen & large deck (frequented by beautiful parrots) - we had plenty of room for 4 adults an almost toddler and our dog. A bonus was all linen, including towels being provided. We really enjoyed our bush walks in the Wombat State Forest just over the road - lots of kangaroos. Plenty of parking. Our host was very friendly & helpful and made our booking run smoothly for us.
We spent one night at the property. Communication with the owner was great. Fireplace was awesome, super comfi beds.
Coffee/Tea, milk and bikkies were provided which was a bonus.
Only thing that could be improved was the shower. A glass screen would make it much more comfortable.
We had a lovely stay.
Thankyou
Cosy cottage, with a great fireplace for those very chilly 8 degree days. Beautiful views of deciduous trees in their autumnal slendour as well as the surrounding forest. True to the property description. Thanks Margaret, we loved our stay.
We had s great time
It was warm and cozy
No photos of. Bathroom as there was barely a bathroom and it was combined with laundry
Scheduled power outage on the Monday and we were not advised by the host and left early. We asked around and every one had been advised weeks in advance
Very pet friendly and a comfy bed

Hi I am semi retired carpenter who loves the bush and animals. Horses , dogs, cows chooks etc entertain my days and keep me mighty fit. Most days are spent working on my bush block gradually improving it and working the horses. Before I left to live in WA for awhile my bush block ran Misty Mountain Medicinal Herbs specialising in Biodynamic Ginseng. Life is always full of challenges and entertainment in the bush.
When I returned from WA in the mining industry I bought this lovely cottage to live in while I brought back my bush block. The property caught my eye with the lovely big windows that bring in the bush and keep out the cold. Even the garden had been landscaped in a simple but very pleasing arrangement that allowed to really relax at the end of the day. Often the simpler things are the easier it is to escape from the rush and bustle of the city. When I am too old to do what I do now I will retire to this lovely cottage and relax.
In the evenings it becomes very quiet which allows you to take in all the little creatures sounds and activities. If you enjoy a walk the bush is so relaxing and allows the dog a chance to explore and have fun.
