Overall a great place to stay. E we were delayed getting into town, so we will have to make a return trip to hang out in town and explore the house a bit more.
We spent a night here while travelling for work and were surprised by the large size and beauty of the house. The location is less than a block off the main street and we had no issues parking.
Check in was a little confusing, but worked by the time I got to the property. I d oh donât have a code to send to others arriving earlier until I actually showed up at the house and did not receive an email response from the hospitality company that had been emailing me about my stay.
Beautiful building, old, slightly worn, charming. Some inconvenience such as no body soap or wash in any shower, no wine opener, only one wash cloth. Beds very comfy with good pillows and mattresses. Fun electric fireplaces. great location and unique. You WILL definitely hear people walking around above you in the loft apartment. Convenient fenced yard. Not manicured by any means but fine with me. Would definitely stay again.
The home was ther perfect location and walkable to many rhings in the town. The highlight of the rental was the pool table. We truly enjoyed plsying as a family.
The rental needs some work. Furniture was either torn or highly soiled and the lighting throughout the home was poor. No task lighting in the living area or the kitchen and the light above the pool table was very very dim.
All else was fine in the house.
We love Leadville. It's such a great town - it's so honest about itself, but as a result, accommodations can be hit or miss. Nevertheless, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Governor's Mansion. It has a great location for walking to main street, it's quite spacious, and it's atmosphere fits Leadville perfectly. The mattresses are all memory foam / "Purple" style, and quite firm, which aren't our favorites but should hold up well for a rental property and were fine once settled in. The living room and pool table were great for evenings of struggling to stay awake after high-altitude adventures in the surrounding mountains. The fenced in front yard is also great for a morning or evening cup of something warm or cheery while idly tossing a ball for the pupper.
Downsides - and these are all minor nits, nothing major - it's a bit rough around the edges - just like Leadville. The kitchen lighting was poor and the kitchen could do with a few more cooking utensils; the window coverings were a bit...rustic; and it could do with some better sound isolation between the two main units, primarily at the door between them at the front entry way; and it needed maybe some details like a bathroom shelf/table for toiletries in the master bedroom on the 2nd floor and a few updated bath fixtures that were showing some wear, but work fine. None of these distracted from our enjoyment of a unique home in the last high altitude wild west town on earth. It will be on our list when we return!
We enjoyed our stay. It was a quick trip to hike Mt Elbert and the location couldnât have been more perfect. Nice comfortable home. Weâd stay again.
Wonderful stay, bedrooms upstairs are beautifully decorated. Enjoyed spending time with friends and family in the living room & playing billiards. Spacious kitchen and the yard was nice for our two small dogs to explore. Easy walk to restaurants and bars in Historic Leadville!
As a hiking party of three, we were looking for accommodations in Leadville that provided separate bedrooms, good facilities, and spacious room close enough to town to walk to restaurants and shops. This property exceeded our expectations in all areas. Bed mattresses were all excellent for great sleeping conditions, and the kitchen/dining area was spacious and well stocked. The property managers were available to answer all our questions and most helpful to newcomers to the Leadville area. We would definitely stay here again.
This was a good location, close to downtown, at a reasonable price. They promptly answered all questions. The 2 full baths and 3 normal bedrooms are upstairs. On the 1st floor is only a very small half bath. While there is a bedroom on the 1st floor, it is not part of the heating system for the rest of the house, and it is very small. A standalone heater is in this bedroom (which is useful even on summer nights in Leadville). The rest of our group would stay here again - for me, if I had known this information in advance, then I never would have stayed here.
This is such a great historic home and it really adds to your leadville experience. It has plenty of sleeping room with comfortable beds. It was walking distance from downtown and great for families with small children. We would definitely book here again.
This historic home has plenty of room, plus a pool table! Beds were great, along with the bedding. Towels were soft, and large. Our first experience with shower heads that showed when the water was cold, hot or just right. All requests were handled immediately. One block to downtown
We loved our time at the Governors Mansion! It is just off Main street so it's easy to walk anywhere downtown. It's about a 15 minute drive to Ski cooper, which was an easy drive. The rooms are big and roomy and our boys loved having a pool table in the house! Definitely recommend it for families. We will be back!
The house was very cozy and clean! It was the perfect location, right around the corner from downtown! The beds were so comfortable, which is hard to find at a lot of places! The home owners were very welcoming and very easy to get a hold of! The only thing negative about the whole stay was we didn't realize that the house was split into 3 different sections and we were sharing the house with others but it was never an issue with noise or anything like that!
