Great property with underground parking garage, ski lockers, heated pool and jacuzzi. Condo was comfortable and well maintained. Very easy to get to and from Eagle Lodge. We had a great time.
My skier group loves to stay at the Sunstone Property near Eagle lift as it is âtrueâ ski in/ski out (as long as Chair 15 is working). Okay⊠weâve rented lots of units at Sunstone and this is our favorite so far. Comfortable âeverthing.â Condo is managed by a âhigh endâ firm, ânatural Retreats.â Their prices are competitive and they are great. The unit exceeded our expectations and we would gladly stay there on our next trip to Mammoth.
Clean, great location, staff a little slow to respond to requests as we had to leave messages and wait for responses, but they were helpful when we caught up w them, but overall amazing stay.
We really enjoyed this condo. Skiing in and out can't be beat and lift 15 is always the best (IMHO). because the crowds are lighter. The condo itself was clean and well-appointed. It had more than the average in terms of pots, pans, etc, so it was very easy to prepare meals in house. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat.
Awesome third floor location, easy access to elevator / parking garage/ski lockers. Unit was clean and comfortable. Property manager was extremely responsive and helpful for the one small question that we had. We've stayed at several units in Sunstone and this was one of the best, we look forward to a return trip!
The property was clean and very convenient for skiing.. More information needs to be provided on the ski locker access. Emails coming from Natural Retreats is a bit confusing since you think you are booking from VRBO. Not sure what the pad locks on the TV stand were for.
The location is great for ski in/out, very easy to access even for my young kids. The unit was perfect size for a family of 4. The location of the unit was great (top floor, over looked the pool/spa, over looked the area that you ski in/out and you could see the lift running in the morning). We cooked in every night and all appliances worked fine. Would have been nice to have more pots/pans to cook with. Also, there was only one decent wine glass :)
Last winter we paid for s ski in/ski out only to find that it was an extremely steep, ice patch. Terrible. Never used it!
This place was a true ski in/ski out and very ,very easy to navigate. Skied right down to lift and then afterwards, skiied right back to condo. No climbing ever.
Beds were comfortable, living and dining areas are spacious, only downside is the kitchen. The dishwasher needs an upgrade (thankfully I had two children to be my dishwashers) and we could have used some more kitchen supplies (a larger non-stick frying pan, spatulas, larger wine glasses, and larger coffee mugs). However, if you prefer dining out - this condo is fantastic! We cook breakfast, lunch & dinner in the condo, so we're a little picky about the kitchen supplies.
Like missing a VERY short putt after a beautiful drive & approach shot.
The location is great if ski in/out is a priority, and the rate reflects that. Parking is good, and the dolly's for bringing stuff upstairs is a big time-saver.The frustration here is that at this price-point, one should be able to expect some simple attention to detail to make for a more pleasant stay. Here is the list:- Virtually no decorations, aside from two standard framed maps of the same mountain, makes the place feel sterile. Not clear that there are regular-people owners of this place.- Ultra-cheap drip coffee maker was disgustingly dirty on the inside. A second maker in the cabinet does not work at all.- 4 chairs at the table, but only 3 placemats and no real sets of 4 of any glass or dishware.- Some cutlery still had barcode stickers on them.- Entry light did not work, and it was not a bulb issue. Given that there are no work lights over the sink/counter area, it was all pretty dark.- Tons of sugar packets, but no salt or pepper.- Batteries on one TV remote were pretty much done, and there are no spares. If this is an investment property, all of the above could be taken care of with almost no detectable impact on the rate of return, so this is really all about deciding whether this place is intended to just be an unremarkable unit in a remarkable location, or an actually pleasant and memorable place to stay.
As others have stated, there are no paintings or other art on the walls, the kitchen supplies are pretty minimal, and there is no A/C in the unit. Also, the wifi is public / not secure, and a bit spotty. Finally, the contract provided for disputes to be resolved in court in Charlottesville, Virginia, but the property manager was very responsive and agreed to delete that provision.
Other than that, everything was as advertised and quite nice. The location is great for skiing/boarding, and for summertime hiking, biking and other activities. Check out the trail / bike path system - very nice, particularly given that the back country and mountain were closed for us due to smoke from the September 2020 Creek fire.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will likely come back when the smoke clears. Thank you to Natural Retreats for their responsiveness and courtesy throughout the process and our stay.
The apartment was great, clean and comfortable and well equipped. Couldn't be closer to the Eagle lift, ski from the building and steps back home at the end of the day.
