Check in was easy. The house has every amenity you could want. Well stocked kitchen, great bath towels, plenty of beach towels, and blankets. So thoughtfully designed and plenty of space! The PM was easy to reach and very responsive. Walking distance to local spots. We will be back for sure!
The property and house were beautiful; the kitchen was easy, and we greatly enjoyed the coffee, pizza and cider house just across the street!
Thanks for a fun stay,
Carrie
The house is decorated adorably, very peaceful setting and the host Amanda couldn't have been any nicer with suggestions on where to eat on Thanksgiving night plus things to do around the neighborhood. We had an amazing stay. I highly recommend this property for anybody who wants to enjoy the view of a Lake and time with friends or family.
We had a wonderful stay in this house. The decor was beautiful and the house was very clean. It working perfect for our family of 5 and the location was great for heading to the game by day and spending time looking at the water by evening. We will likely stay here again when we come up for a game. Highly recomend this property!
Couple buddies and I headed up to Michigan to do some mountain biking and take in Fall foliage. This place was perfect for us. Weâll be back! Thx Amanda!
My husband, three adult daughters and I stayed in this adorable cottage while in town for my brotherâs funeral. Although the occasion was grim, the cottage was a wonderful place to go back to after the Celebration of Life and mass. The cozy living room was perfect for spending the evening together in. We would definitely stay here again, especially during warmer weather when we could enjoy the balcony and deck. Thank you Margaret for being such a wonderful host!
This is the best VRBO we have stayed at. Amanda (the owner) had everything you would ever need for your stay. We loved the 3 full bathrooms and the decor was adorable. Beautiful lake view and enjoyed the busy lake and the sandy beach for my grandson. Location was perfect with only 10 mins from Dexter & Pinckney with great restaurants. The patio area with grill and patio furniture was a big hit. We loved the visit by the deer that came into the yard each night. I highly recommend this place, worth ever penny. Canât say enough about it. Thank you Amanda for an enjoyable 2 weeks.
We all loved our stay at this beautiful, cozy retreat. The place was very clean and communication with Margaret was great. Our group included our two grown sons and a daughter-in-law and it was really nice that there were not only three bedrooms, but three bathrooms as well. Everything was very nicely done! We used the kayaks and the paddle boat--a fun way to explore the lake. The surrounding area and drive to this home was so pretty and wooded, and helped us to relax even before arriving. It was less than 30 minutes to Ann Arbor on back roads--we loved not having to get back on the highway, but it is an option if you'd prefer. We appreciated having the shops across the street--each one filling a niche with one being very convenient for forgotten items, another a great source for ice cream and lots of cute and creative, fun items and another a convenient source for good pizza (and a great Caesar salad!) An afternoon spent in nearby Dexter was a fun time of exploring, with shop owners being so friendly and welcoming. We loved everything about our stay and hated to leave.
Nice place to stay with a small group. Beds were comfy, the double bunk upstairs rattled if you moved at all, and 2 of 3 bedrooms have nowhere to put your suitcases/stuff. Cute place on a beautiful lake with a great view! Not much seating inside... no table to eat at as a group- metal stools at sink and behind couch were ok...but pretty uncomfortable. Main floor bathroom needed a good cleaning, especially shower. Pretty well stocked kitchen which was nice, and hosts were very responsive.
Perfect Lake house that has been beautifully updated
If you are looking for a perfect Michigan lake house, look no further. This lake house has been beautifully update and has the most amazing views right on Lake Portage. The home is perfectly laid out to give plenty of space for 4 adults and 2 teenagers. The deck overlooking the lake is a wonderful place to have your coffee in the morning and take in the quiet surrounding. The beds were comfortable and 3 showers were perfect for us. Highly recommend!
The house is just as cute as it is in the photos! Nicely decorated and very clean. Not one complaint! Seriously not one! Lovely view of the lake and the sunset, plenty of outdoor furniture to enjoy relaxing outdoors. The lake has a sandy bottom, so wading out into enjoy the water was very pleasant. Very quiet neighborhood.
My 83 year old mom uses a walker and had very little trouble as there are very few stairs getting into the house and out onto the deck. First floor full bath was perfect. All of the bedrooms were comfortable with plenty of fluffy pillows! The kitchen is very well stocked with everything you need to cook and serve a meal. The three full baths were perfect for all of us to get ready at the same time to attend a wedding we were in town for. The area is very nice. The cutest town Iâve ever seen, Dexter, is a short dive with plenty of restaurants and shopping.
There are also lots of convenient shops across the street from the house. There is a pizza shop, convenience/liquor store, ice cream & coffee shop, and a kayak & pontoon rental. All of it is close enough to walk to. Everyone was so nice to us tourists! We did a second pontoon lake tour because the first one was so much fun!
Really, the house was great! At no point did we wish we had somethingâŠeverything is there. Our visit was so enjoyable! Driving away my husband and I said at the same timeâŠI would do that again!
We were so lucky to find this sweet lake house so close to the DTE mountain bike trails and our daughters home when COVID threatened to destroy our family reunion. We had unseasonably nice weather to enjoy the backyard and beach for cookouts and sunsets. The master bed was delicious. The kitchen well stocked. The living area comfy and the view lovely. A kayak or paddle board around the lake would have been fun. Maybe another time.
Such a great spot! We were there for a Water Polo Tournament at the University of Michigan. Easy & convenient to get to the school. Kitchen was completely & fully equipped with anything you needed. Including coffee/ sugar/ tea ... zip loc baggies, paper towels, dish soap, dishwasher pucks, salt & pepper, olive oil - literally everything - ALL the basics! We were five adults and a one year old ... it was great to have three full bedrooms & bathrooms. Beds are super comfortable & there were plenty of towels in the bathroom. Even though the space is not huge, it was very comfortable & functional. Unfortunately, the outside chairs weren't available to us in early May - but the weekend weather was gorgeous. The lock issue that other renters have discussed is not difficult - you just have to follow the directions in the manual. We had a great five days & would recommend this rental to anyone!!!!
Disappointed in many ways, especially in the owner of the house.
I wanted to love this property but it had issues from the start. When I arrived I found the downstairs bathroom un-flushed with lots of feces in the toilet. I looked for a cleaning wand for the restroom but could not find one. I also could not lock the backdoor. I notified the owner of the lock-situation and she directed me to her Dad who lived next door. He came over and spent several minutes trying to lock the door. He instructed me to not use it. I also showed him the uncleaned toilet. He found a brush and cleaned it. The three downstairs doors and the upstairs door off the master were all very difficult to lock. We had to with the front door unlocked several nights but managed. since it is a safe neighborhood. The front door and side doors never seemed to work, not even the digital code worked. on the front door. The lock problem issues are also listed in her renter information book that I read with my sister, who lives in Pinckney. When it was time to leave, I washed the majority of the towels, stripped all beds that we had slept on and put the sheets in the washer. I also swept the floors and wiped down all counters. All trash was taken out to the trash cans. I messaged the owner telling her all of these things had been taken care of AND that the front door didn't seem to lock. My sister also witnessed how clean I left the home as she had helped me clean. The owner responded to my exit note and said thank you and I left. Two days later, I received a text from the owner Margaret saying I left the house in disorder. I am I will never not photograph every room. I left the rental much better than I found it. Very disappointed. I also rent to travelers and have hosted countless guests and truly know how to care and clean homes. Totally shocked. I wish I had gotten her Dad to do a walk- through. I called the owner to discuss but she did not pick up or respond to my call. Very sad at this outcome. We stayed here to get together with loved ones after my Motherâs passing a year ago.
Our family stayed for parents week for U Michigan. Only 25 minutes to downtown Ann Arbor our stay on the lake was relaxing. The home is beautiful, minutes from the cute town of Dexter and an easy country drive to Ann Arbor. Will definitely be back.
We needed a getaway for leaves and check out U of M . The Leaves literary changed while we were visiting . So pretty !!! Great find! Super convenient location. Close to so many little local fall events . Thank you â we had a great action a packed weekend !
All good, great place and view. Plenty of supplies except TP. Might want curtains on patio doors. Felt exposed to other house. Great having bathrooms for every bedroom. Could use a bigger sink in one bathroom. All good and very well decorated made us feel right at home.
Our Multigenerational family came from Kentucky to visit our Daughter. We stayed at this beautiful and well kept home on the lake. Everything that we needed was on hand and we enjoyed our stay very much!
What a beautiful home! We were thrilled to be able to spend time with family at this gorgeous home. The beach was great, the beds were comfy, and we had everything we couldâve needed.
I grew up in Ann Arbor spending summers on the Portage Lake chain of lakes. My Dad grew up in Dexter and lived on Whitmore Lake for years. Between my summers and his time on Whitmore I fell in love with the chain of lakes and had to have a summer cottage there. My husband and I work in downtown Detroit so we live further east to be close to work and spend time with our family instead of in the car but in the summer we spend many nights and weekends loving life on the lake!
With my young children, this part of Portage Lake is perfect. They can walk right in from the shore and the shallow bay is perfect for us to swim together. Because it's shallow it isn't as busy and we don't get the water sports right next to our place, but can head out further into the lake if we want to have that kind of fun. It's so convenient having Riverside pizza, Ore Creek Brewing, Nauti MI Ice Cream and the liquor/grocery store right across the street. We are very close to great fishing spots to take the kids as well. The view of the lake especially on summer night sunsets is just breathtaking. I love the variety the chain of lakes provides and having the yacht club on our lake for sailing or heading up for a nice meal is very convenient. The proximity to downtown Dexter and Ann Arbor is great for a nice summer night out.
