Stayed to fish Lake James and this was great location just a few miles from boat ramps with ample space for boat parking...very clean and comfortable cabin with nice porch overlooking woods. Hope to stay again.
We enjoyed our stay at this cabin and it's very close to some excellent hiking and mountain bike trails at Lake James. We will look them up next time we're in the area.
A beautiful setting in the woods, a nice covered front deck from which to enjoy the outdoor air, a fireplace to warm the cabin, always clean, and an owner who is incredibly accommodating, make for a very pleasant stay in the foothills of NC! I love this little place and spend time here every chance I get! Judie is a terrific host! Iâll be back!
We had a wonderful time staying at Judie's cabin! Judie was so personable and accommodating! The cabin was clean and so cute with a beautiful front porch. Perfect for two people! We were allowed to bring our two small dogs. The town of Marion was great with very nice people! The mountains and Lake James were beautiful!
We really enjoyed are weekend stay at this cozy little cabin tucked away in the woods. It was a quick drive to multiple hikes at Lake James. Judie was so pleasant and helpful. She checked us in and ensured we understood how to work everything in the cabin. She was a pleasure to work with. Thank you for a delightful stay.
I love spending time in this cabin! The location is perfect - quiet, peaceful and surrounded by a forest of hardwood trees - just beautiful! Judie is a terrific host and the place is always clean and ready for me when I show up! The cabin is beautiful - with log and pine tongue and groove paneling exterior and interior finishes - a perfect environment for a rustic, mountain visit! Iâve stayed in this cabin 7-8 times in the past few years and always look forward to coming back to it!!!
We had a wonderful stay, very relaxing. The front porch made the stay extra special. We saw 14 deer with 3 or 4 of them being fawns. Improvements: queen size blanket on the bed and an end table and lamp on the left side of the love seat. We loved our time there, wish it was longer.
I have your Christmas table runner, was mixed in with my clothes. Will be mailing it back to you on Monday!!!!
A nice tiny little cabin. Was clean, had 2 air conditioning window units. Big enough for 2 people. Check in/out was kind of a hassle. Usually VRBO is simple: one email, and the key is in the lock box. But for this cabin, a 3 night stay required countless emails and phone calls with the owner and meeting her for both check in and out. Also she requested an additional cash deposit when we arrived which was not part of the agreement.
We had less than two days to spend, but enjoyed our stay very much. The cabin, though quite small, has everything we needed and was very thoughtfully equipped. My husband enjoyed sitting in a rocker on the porch and playing his banjo to his heart's content. We managed to take a walk on the French Broad River and listen to bluegrass music in Ashville, explore Lake James State Park and Linville Falls in the Pisgah National Froest, and drive the Blue Ridge Parkway to Little Switzerland for dinner. The owner is engaging, enthusiastic, and solicitous. This is not the place for you, if you just want to pick up a key and never see the owner.
Tho owner had way too much contact with me, both email and phone. I arrived at the rental and was greeted by a swarm of bees. The owner told me they had stung her before, but she did nothing about it. She also failed to mention that she lives closer than 50 yards from the rental. The house had a water leak that I told her about as the pump ran every few minutes. I crawled under the house to look for the leak, it was coming from the water heater. The leak had been ongoing and caused mold to grow on the wooden floor. To fix this she gave me a fan, which I had to assemble . The fan blew the mold spores all over the house. I awoke having great difficulty breathing , sore throat and headache. I phoned Vrbo and they refused to refund any money that I had to pay. I paid for a month, but only was there a few miserable days. The worst rental experience I have ever had.
Sarah's Song, as the cabin is named, is a kit cabin of solid wood that is both quaint and clean. The owner is extremely helpful and readily advises on the working aspects of the cabin. The owner lives close by and should you need anything is very helpful. However, if you do not need anything you would not know they are there. We could not be HAPPIER with our visit! We have rented many cabins in the Great Smokies of the Carolina's, and this cabin has by far exceeded our expectations! Are you a student or business person who needs the internet? Have you ever rented a cabin only to sit at McDonald's because the internet is so slow it is moving backwards? The Internet here is so fast I could compare it to my Time Warner service at home. Everything you could need from groceries to reasonable gas prices are extremely close by, within a couple miles.
The cabin is a little cluttered because many other tenants have left some things behind, but the owner does not remove these items as she hopes the next tenant might enjoy them. At first, I was a little worried about the late June heat, but a very kind natural breeze is almost constant most likely from the positioning of the cabin. It is almost as if that was the plan when it was built. The breeze alone makes me want to return to sit on the porch and enjoy the evening air. There is no hot tub for winter use, but we did not care for one.
If you are looking for a very nice place to stay that is located within five minutes of the lake, has a smorgasbord of wonderful sounds and delicate breezes, then you have found a diamond in the rough. It was hard for me to write this because I am not sure I want people to know about it, it might be hard for me to book it when I want it again!
Iâve stayed at Judieâs cabin several times now, about twice a year, and look forward to visiting it every time! This little cabin is nestled back in the woods, surrounded by a forest of hardwoods, and a few evergreen trees, and is a terrific get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life! It is so quiet and peaceful! The cabin is always clean and ready to inhabit for a few days. Judie is a terrific host!
My husband and I picked this beautiful cabin due to it's convenient location to some nearby gem mines. We visited the Little Pine Garnet Mine about an hour away and found many beautiful garnets. We also visited Gem Mountain about 35 minutes away and took the tour. On our last day we visited Emerald Hollow Mine. We also just enjoyed the peacefulness of the cabin and the fireplace. This cabin was fantastic and we loved Judie the owner. She was so sweet and personable. We will stay here again when we come back to the area.
I love this âCozy Cabin in The Woods!â The setting is beautiful, smack in the middle of a forest of mature hard woods and evergreens! The cabin is clean and relaxingly pleasant. Love and enjoy the front deck - spent a lot time in the rocking chairs enjoying the outdoor environment! Conveniently close to Lake James! Judie, the Vrbo host, is easy to work with and makes everything from the reservation to check-in to check-out easy on the guest! She is just a pleasure to work with! Iâll be back!
Had a great time at the cabin. The property owner was terrific with communication and giving us privacy. There was plenty to do in the surrounding areas when we went out and we had the comfort we were hoping for when we decided to stay in!
We loved the location and the cabin was very clean. The only issue was that it is a little on the small size. We are used to a larger size living area , but overall it was a great vacation. We saw alot of deer which was exciting.
Judie was very accommodating.
Adorable little cabin has everything you need for a getaway. Perfectly located for Lake James hikes, Blue Ridge Parkway, and local wineries. Great front porch for happy hour. Perfect place to escape 2020
A great vacation begins here. Judie was a premier hostess. Super easy check in and the cabin is like stepping back in time. Beautiful porch to sit and rock your cares away. Would recommend to anyone who wants a relaxing getaway. Thank you Judy for a wonderful stay .We will definitely be back. Jerry and Denise
A perfect little cabin in the woods. Super clean and well maintained. This was the perfect getaway for us to escape the world. Very convenient to Lake James. The cabin was cozy and comfortable. Thanks Judie!
The area, the cabin, all of it was fantastic, Judy is an amazing woman and made the cabin a home away from home and is a fantastic person to even just chat with!
This cabin is a beautiful piece of property that is exactly like its pictured.
Perfect for the two of us - isolated in the woods.
Communication was relegated to email and limited hikes without a little driving but otherwise is a perfect getaway.
Very usable kitchen and Judie was extremely responsive throughout.
