Beautiful home located in an equally beautiful neighborhood. Home is decorated with retro furniture. The only problem was the strong unpleasant smell of mothballs.
This was one of my favorite VRBO stays ever. The house is amazing - it's like being in a well-preserved 1950s time capsule. We were in town to visit relatives spread out all over the greater Atlanta area and this home was central to everyone. The neighborhood is super nice and the home is right across the street from a park, which unfortunately we didn't get to take advantage of because it rained throughout most of our visit, but maybe next time. If you're a runner you'll love this area. We have three kids and there was more than enough room for all of us to spread out and be comfortable. Loved playing the piano. Loved perusing the bookshelves. Loved the view with the morning coffee. Can't wait to stay here again.
We really enjoyed our stay at this very unique property. We were looking for something centrally located that would allow our dog to join us on our trip. This house was that and more. We couldn't have asked for a better location. The home is directly across from a wonderful park to walk the dog and a little ways down was a playground our kids enjoyed. The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful but being in Buckhead you are only minutes away from great shopping, restaurants and grocery stores.
The trees surrounding the home, the location on a hill and all the windows make you feel like you're in a treehouse. We loved the newspaper article hanging on the wall describing the history of the house. Beware, the driveway is very steep but once we had done it once or twice it wasn't an issue. Also, this is an older home that doesn't appear to have been renovated. It is a bit quirky, but so full of charm. Bottom line: we are very likely to stay here again if we are traveling with our dog. Thanks Tom!
This is a quirky house. Mid century modern, but not so modern. It was in need of renovations and redecorating. It was also not very comfortable for us to live in - there was really no place to relax and watch tv (except in the bedroom). If you like to spend your time singing around a piano, it would be great.
The location was nice. It was across the street from Memorial Park, which was great for walking our dog.
From the outside everything was clean. But when you opened drawers and cabinets there was a lot of debris; it didn't look like there had been a thorough cleaning for a long time.
We also arrived about 3:15 (check-in was at 3). The maid was still there and told us she didn't want people coming until 4 or 5. This was a little disconcerting and definitely a disconnect.
First of all, this is a beautiful mid-century ranch. Even though it is two bedrooms, it is quite spacious and great for entertaining. And very comfortable with lots of windows and light. The baby grand is a great extra.
Some issues:
1. The driveway is very steep and if it is wet, it is hard to get up. The owner did have the leaves removed which helped, but it is still an adventure getting up it. If you have four wheel drive, no problem. Otherwise hit low gear and keep the RPMs up above 2000 and you should make it.
2. The living room and dining rooms are sunken with one or two long steps to get down to them. Not good for elderly people or toddlers.
3. The kitchen is missing a microwave. There was one stored in the bar but it did not appear functional.
Overall a great value in an intown location. Owner is very responsive.
We loved the house and the process was very simple. The house was clean and the owner was thoughtful enough to make sure coffee was in the house for you. There was nothing we needed that was not there. The only issue we had was getting up the driveway with the wet leaves.
This house was amazing! Gorgeous rugs and a newspaper article about the original owners framed in the hallway. Fascinating story! The house is on a hill with the most amazing wooded views. A great park across the street with running trails and a park for kids. Nice neighborhood close to eating and grocery store. I would love to stay there again!
The location was great fir the areas we wanted to visit. The owner Tom was friendly and always communicated with us. He went out of his way to make certain that our 90 year old mother was able to get around on his property. Very conscientious and an owner with integrity. Would recommend to others who wish to live in the Buckhead area.
The house is up a very steep hill with a shared driveway. We arrived and found the back door unlocked so we feared someone could be in the house . It is a rambling somewhat cluttered house and it didnât feel safe enough to stay in. We left immediately and stayed in a hotel. After I told the owner about our experience, he changed the dates of our rental to 3 nights rather than 5 but did not refund any nights. He said he would try to re-rent it, but not all the nights are put back on VRBO. Itâs a very dangerous time right now in this neighborhood and you should not stay in this house if isolation concerns you.
This was just the change of scenery we needed after quarantine in MD for 92 days. The tree house feel was relaxing, the Frank Lloyd Wright style took me back to another era.
We will surely stay here again.
It was just as represented. Love this historical property. Tom has a gem. If you every renovate it keeping with its history it will be magazine worthy.
I am familiar with Atlanta after living there for several years in the past. I was in town visiting friends and looking for a place in a quiet neighborhood, near a park with the intent of enjoying a comfortable and well appointed place to stay. I got all of this at this property.
Tom was available and had very clear and concise instructions which avoids any hassles with neighbors and with the property itself. There was ample room for my small dog to enjoy and the park across the street was a great way to enjoy social distancing!
There are nearby drugstores and a Publix. Great restaurants in and around town. Good access to I-75 and the 400.
The house was clean with a mid century modern feel. I personally was swayed by the beautiful baby grand piano which was well kept and in tune!
I would stay at this property again hands down.
Thomas' house is a perfect house for a family. The home is situated right in town and yet close to the park and wonderful green space. The house is well-equipped and very inviting. It is as described. I would highly recommend it and book again.
My husband, puppy and I stayed in Toms property for 3 nights for a business trip. The check in process was a breeze. The property was stocked w/ anything a guest would need and fit our needs perfectly. The weather was beautiful so we sat outside and had dinner on the back patio. Would definitely recommend. The neighborhood was perfect and the park across the street great for a walk with the pup.
We stayed for a long weekend. The home is clean, comfortable and in a great neighbor. It is close to stores, restaurants and downtown. The driveway is very steep, but driveable. The kitchen is well stocked as well. The park, across the street, was perfect for evening walks. Children would enjoy the woodsy feel and exploring. I recommend this property.
This house was perfect for our stay in Buckhead. The driveway was a bit steep but we never had a problem after the first time. The scenery was gorgeous & the home had everything we needed. We felt very comfortable there & had a wonderful week.
This house is what it is â an older property that in most ways hasnât been touched in 30 years but is in a great location. If you want to be in this part of Atlanta, itâs a terrific spot for a group of 4-6 people. The 3rd bedroom isnât all that private, but it served our purposes for a kids room. I was initially disappointed with the dated decor etc when we arrived, but the more time I spent there, I felt like the house was good value for the price and location.
Built in 1950, this house is a mid-century modern designed by an acolyte of Frank Lloyd Wright. Clad in cedar shingles and overlooking a park, it is barely visible from the street, as the architect intended. The views are intended for those who live inside -- the house faces east, so you can see the sun rise through the floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the trees, rhododendron and azaleas that dot the property. The house was designed for maximum light -- the sun pours in through 8 skylights, and the walls of windows at the front and rear of the house mean you can literally see through the house when the curtains are open. The concert grand piano appears small compared to the size of the living room in which it sits. Though just 8 minutes from downtown, you are truly in the woods here. In addition to the three bedrooms and two full bathrooms, the house has an office with a desk; two of the bedrooms have desks. A security camera is located outside the house; it does not have a view inside the house.
CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: My cleaners are using EPA-approved products that kill COVID-19; they are being extra diligent in sanitizing the rooms including â bathrooms, door handles, desk table and chairs, light switches, remote, safety latches and locks, common areas. We have enhanced our cleaning protocols to include additional sanitation and cleaning routines. This enhanced cleaning protocol increases the cleaning and sanitization of high-touch areas that affect guests and employees.
