We had four families come together for a long weekend. Grandmaâs cabin was perfect for us as there were four bedrooms and large living/sleeping/dining space in the middle. It was great for âcousin camp.â
The nearby parks and towns were easy to get to and explore.
The host was very easy to communicate with, if needed.
My family enjoys staying at Kishawau. All 20 family members stay at three different cabins. The ages are from three to seventy-one. We enjoyed wine tasting, football games, and night time fire with some more making.
Great place for the whole family!
We stayed here due to the proximity to Starved Rock and Matthiessan State parks and enjoyed our stay. Big enough for 3 families and room for everyone to play outside. Would return without question. Thanks Teresa and Jamie.
The whole family enjoy this cabin so much. Plenty of room inside and out. Weather was great, we could walk, hike, play games on outside tables and inside, cook on grill.....Wonderful time and memories.....thanks
Our group was 3 couples we came to hang out and relax for a few days over New Years. The cabin worked out perfectly. Beds were very comfortable. Linens were provided. Kitchen was stocked with enough dishes and pots and pans. Water is super hard as they note. Wasnât a problem for us other than made coffee taste horrible so bring your own bottled.
Gas fireplace was not operational which was unfortunate so we sat around the fire pit instead. Cabin was plenty warm for winter, ceiling fans helped even the temp in the middle great room.. Oh and very little to no cell service at this location. Those that canât live without their phone/internet may want to mentally prepare! They do have satalite dish with zillions of channels for watching TV.
Would definitely stay here again for a group getaway.
We thoroughly enjoyed this quiet, roomy, comfortable cabin! It was the perfect size for Grandma and Grandpa, their 3 adult daughters and spouses, and 5 teenage grandkids. Because of the heavy rains, we weren't able to hike as much as planned at Starved Rock and Mathieson State Parks, but we didn't mind spending more time at our beautiful cabin. The owners were very helpful and welcoming. This is definitely the place we'll stay the next time we're in the area!
this place is such a great place to spend time in the middle of the woods with your friends and kids gather around. Only 10 minutes from Starved rock state park where we went to hike and see the nice ice water falls.
The cabins are just great, well equipped, very warm and so friendly.
thanks to Terisa and her husband, who were very warm welcomed...
We chose this cabin because it looked like the right size for our group of 5 couples for a retreat mid-winter. I was very impressed; being a cabin, I expected it to be a bit old. It wasn't at all - everything looked rustic but very new. Comfy couches, a great fireplace, and the perfect place to have the deep conversations we all were hoping to have. We will definitely be returning!
For the second straight year, we have celebrated "FriendsGiving". As the name implies, our close friends gather at Kishauwau to enjoy Thanksgiving, to reflect, and to have fun. The arrangements in the Grandma's Cabin allow us to accommodate the people, the food, and the laughter. It is an experience that is anticipated every year, with the exception of the much colder weather. We always reserve the Illini Cabin. This cabin is great for a family or two. Kishauwau is a permanent entry on our list of things to do and I get to relive old Boy Scout adventures. We, my family, always have a wonderful time. The staff at Kishauwau are generous and looking to make one's stay a bit better. Maybe one of these years they will come over and share some fun. Thank you.

Hello, I am Terisa King and my husband is Jamie King. My in-laws purchased this property from the Boyscouts back in 1986. Coming from primitive beginnings, Kishauwau has gone through many transformations over the years. Our Kishauwau Cabins property is a gorgeous, expansive 65 acre property that sits on a bluff above the Vermillion River. This business was built up over a 25 yr. period into what is now our beautiful cabin rental property today. We take great pride in what we do and have our hands in everything from communications, to key exchanges, to maintaining everything that happens on site. We live right on property with our family and are here for the needs of our guests. We look forward to welcoming you soon.
There are few properties today that can give you the small, family run atmosphere you receive from us. Our guests love that our office is left open 24/7 with items on the honor system. We are here to tend to our guests needs but leave you alone once you are checked in. Few places can cater to large family reunions like ours. With 17 cabins spread throughout 65 acres of wooded property we can cater to everything from large reunions to just a single couple looking for seclusion. All of this is located a simple 10 minute drive from both Starved Rock & Matthiessen State Parks and within a half hour of many things to do in this area.
Our property allows families & couples to unplug & disconnect from technology and communicate in a way that is a recent forgotten past. Families and couples frequently leave here saying this was the best getaway they have ever had and it is due to that reason. We have a small hiking trail that goes along the Vermillion River as well as a fishing bank at the bottom of a large hill at the back of our property. The amount of rain we are getting does determine if this is possible. It is also hard to find properties that offer a personal bonfire pit at each cabin for your own privacy. These are all individual cabins here. Give us a call today!
