Picturesque stone cottage on Dunmanus Pier

Dunmanus Pier Cottage sits right on a quiet fishing pier along one of West Cork’s most scenic coastal roads, halfway between Goleen and the lively seaside village of Schull.

With uninterrupted sea views, it’s a peaceful spot where you can truly switch off. Wake up to the sound of the water, watch children fishing for crabs from the pier, and pick up fresh lobster or prawns straight from the local fishermen. You can swim directly from the pier, wander across the surrounding fields and rocks, or simply sit back and take it all in.

It’s an ideal base for anyone who loves the outdoors, and particularly perfect for boat owners.

Schull is just a 10-minute drive away and offers great shops, a well-loved Sunday market, and plenty of pubs with live music. Its sailing centre runs weekly courses throughout the summer.

Some of West Cork’s most beautiful beaches are close by. Ballyrisode Beach, perfect for families, is just 5 minutes away, while Barleycove and the charming village of Crookhaven are within a 15-minute drive.

There’s plenty to explore in the area, including swimming, surfing, sailing, boating, pony trekking, tennis, walking and golf. The Sheep’s Head Peninsula offers miles of walking trails, and many gardens on the West Cork Garden Trail are open to visitors during the spring and summer months. The area is also home to a number of talented artists, many of whom welcome visitors to their studios.

Beautiful house, beautiful location

If you want to watch the sea, listen to birds, and completely relax, this is the place for you. The house is obviously very well loved and has everything you need to be comfy and feel at home. The surrounding area is also wonderful.

Our stay at Dumanus Pier

The house is in a fabulous location with beautiful views out to the Sheeps Head Peninsula and is very comfortable with all essential facilities. Facing west it also benefits from fabulous sunsets. Our only minor reservation related to the extra payments (and difficult meter readings) for electricity and oil (not mentioned in the original description only in the joining instructions). Although the cost for us was low we would have preferred this to have been built into the overall price.

Fabulous!!

Myself ,Husband and our dogs had a wonderful stay here, we were blessed with stunning weather for the entire week in June. A haven for wildlife, the location of the house is spot on and we even got to see 2 otters play in the sea at the end of the garden one evening along with bats skimming the water , oystercatchers, whimbrels, herons....... At certain times during the day there can be a lot of activity on the pier, if you have anxious dogs like us this can be easily rectified by putting up the windbreakers in the shed for added privacy in the garden. The house is beautiful ,fully equipped for all your needs however the owners might invest in freesat for the TV just for the evenings as its not near a village but all in all 5 star!!!!!!

Traumhaftes Ferienhaus in einzigartiger Lage

Ein wunderschönes Cottage in einem der schönsten Gegenden Irlands. Das Haus ist in jeglicher Hinsicht phantastisch, die Einrichtung gemĂŒtlich und hochwertig, der Garten gepflegt, das Meer direkt vor der GartentĂŒr. Alles, was man benötigt, ist vorhanden und in einem sehr guten Zustand. Die Halbinsel und die Umgebung sind atemberaubend. Wir haben uns sehr sehr wohl gefĂŒhlt und werden auf jeden Fall erneut einen Urlaub in Dunmanus Pier verbringen. Danke an Sabine und ihr Team fĂŒr das herzliche Willkommen und die tolle Betreuung.

It couldn't be better!

It is hard to find the perfect combination of character, comfort and location in a self-catering property, but Dunmanus Pier Cottage ticks all the boxes. My wife and I had a wonderful week there with our springer spaniel, enjoying long walks along the quiet roads and soaking up the beautiful scenery. It was a special bonus to see an otter feeding on crabs on the steps of the pier and watching a seal bobbing up and down in the bay. The cottage is also ideally located for trips to Crookhaven, Barleycove and Schull or slightly further afield to the marvellous Gougane Barra. It's very special and we'll be back!

Traumhaus am Meer

Dieses Cottage ist wirklich eines der schönsten FerienhĂ€user, wie wir in den letzten Jahren gesehen haben! Angefangen von der traumhaften Lage unmittelbar an der Bay ĂŒber die liebevolle Ausstattung, die wunderbare KĂŒche mit Bayblick bis hin zu Kamin, Billardtisch und Sonnenterrasse: dieses Haus ist in natura fast noch schöner als in der Beschreibung und ganz gewiss das perfekte Feriendomizil fĂŒr alle, die im Urlaub abschalten, sich entspannen und ihre Ruhe (kein WLAN, kein Telefon - herrlich!!!) geniessen möchten! Einkaufsmöglichkeiten, Pubs und Restaurants sind von hier aus gut mit dem Auto zu erreichen (ca. 20 Minuten nach Schull oder Durrus) - einzig der Fisch, der wird sozusagen direkt ins Haus geliefert... Unmittelbar neben dem Cottage erstreckt sich ein kleiner Pier, an dem Abends Fischerboote anlegen. Und wenn man dann zur rechten Zeit zur Stelle ist, gibt es dort grandios fangfrischen Fisch und köstliche MeeresfrĂŒchte zu kaufen - und das keine zehn Meter vor der KĂŒchentĂŒre! Wir jedenfalls planen schon unsere nĂ€chste Reise nach Dunmanus Pier...

Zauberhaftes Cottage

Wir verbrachten im April 2012 eine wunderschöne Woche in dem zauberhaften Cottage. Superschön, die direkte Lage am Meer. Wir haben unsere Zeit dort sehr genossen und freuen uns schon auf nÀchstes Mal.

Dunmanus Cottage

Cottage is so beautiful and full of character and extremely comfortable Amazing views of the bay with the fishermen coming and going each day who rescued our football from the sea on 2 occasions! Great walks from the house up past the castle ruins Perfect as a central location as a few different towns within a 10 min drive with great coffee shops and wonderful seafood, Friday market in Bantry worth seeing and Barleycove beach is stunning, continue on the Mizen head drive for amazing views! Loved Crookhaven only a 15 min drive from the house Would love to return to both the cottage and West Cork!

Cottage at Dunmanus Pier

Absolute bliss - a true Irish cottage where the owners have thought of your every possible need. Located right on the water's edge with not a sound to be heard by day or by night and a short drive from Schull, Goleen, Crookhaven and Durrus where there are plenty of pubs, restaurants and shops. We'll be back!

The perfect week

Thoroughly enjoyed our week at Dunmanus Pier House. It is in a great location. The house is clean and has everything you need with added touches. Great scenery for walks, the fisherman at the pier to watch and some seals. Secluded but still close to Schull or daily latte/chocolate fix. We have come home stress free and would definetely do this one again. Looks like we will have to book in advance...

Super Ferienhaus in traumhafter Lage

Zu viert (2 Paare) verbrachten wir einen unvergesslichen Urlaub im Dunmanus Pier House. Die freundlichen, hilfsbereiten Besitzer ĂŒberzeugten uns durch FlexibilitĂ€t und sprechen zudem deutsch, was manchmal sehr hilfreich war. Das Haus hat einen ganz besonderen Charme, ist urgemĂŒtlich, gut ausgestattet und bietet einen herrlichen unverbauten Ausblick ĂŒber die Dunmanus Bay bis zu den Bergen von Beara. Ausflugs- und einkaufsmöglichkeiten sind trotz der Abgeschiedenheit in akzeptabler Entfernung reichlich vorhanden.Wir können Dunmanus Pier House gern und guten Gewissens weiter empfehlen.

The most charming place we have ever stayed!

This was our first visit to Ireland and staying in this stone cottage made our trip everything we hoped it would be. This place was amazing. The location was perfect. We spent 4 nights here and then explored County Kerry. We all felt the highlight of our trip was the time we spent at this cottage and around the Mizen Peninsula. It was beautiful! It's hard to convey the special feelings we felt in this area. We had two couples in our party. We put the two twin beds in the loft together and thought that was fun. The other couple stayed in the bedroom. We had no problems with privacy. After exploring the area each day we would settle back at the cottage, start a fire, make a fantastic meal and then play darts, snookers or cards. From the moment we walked inside this cottage we felt at home. We were sorry when we had to say goodbye. I thoroughly recommend this place. The four of us commented how much we want our parents and children to stay here - it's that kind a place.

absolut Traumhaft

Das HĂ€uschen ist ein wahrer Traum. Alles ist genau so, wie es in der Beschreibung steht. Das gesamte Cottages ist sehr liebevoll eingerichtet und man fĂŒhlt sich sofort wie zu Hause. KĂŒche ist mit allem ausgestattet was man benötigt, sogar mit einer KitchenAid (sehr zur Freude meiner Frau, die schon lange eine möchte). Die Lage des Cottages ist in einer eigenen kleinen Bucht, direkt an einem Pier. Wenn man mag und zur richtigen Tageszeit da ist, kann man von den 3 Fischern dort frisch gefangene Fische kaufen. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten gibt es in Schull (Spar) und Skibbereen (Spar und Lidl), etwa 10-15 bzw. 20-25 Autominuten entfernt. Das Cottage war fĂŒr uns ein idealer Startpunkt fĂŒr AusflĂŒge nach Mizen Head, Sheeps Head, Beara-Halbinsel und Kinsale. FĂŒr den Ring of Kerry hatten wir leider keine Zeit mehr. Das Cottage ist jedem absolut zu empfehlen und auch wir werden sicherlich wieder hinfahren. Wer Ruhe, Abgeschiedenheit und Natur pur liebt ist dort bestens aufgehoben. Vermieterin ist sehr freundlich und auch der vorherige Mail-Verkehr war sehr gut.

Magnificent Holiday Cottage

Dunmanus Pier is a magnificent holiday cottage suitable for families even those with young children. Enjoying a superb waterside location and equiped with every appliance that could be needed, you will have a great time and probably look to book again as soon as possible. Highly recommended.

We’re a small family living in West Cork, just a few miles from the cottage. We have four children, along with our dogs and cats, and we feel very lucky to call this part of the world home. It’s a special place year-round, but especially in the summer.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

Ann’s parents bought the cottage in the early 1990s as a project, when it was a complete ruin with a tree growing through the middle. Over time it was carefully restored into the charming seaside cottage it is today, and it has remained a much-loved place ever since.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

The cottage sits right on the edge of the sea, so you can hear and smell it the moment you open the windows. Guests can buy fresh catch directly from local fishermen on the pier, or try their hand at crab fishing just steps from the front door.
