Timmy’s Cottage on Heir Island in West Cork is a unique holiday destination in Ireland. Heir Island or Hare Island is 2.5 km long and 1.5 km wide providing a truly unique holiday experience. It is the fourth largest of Carbery's Hundred Isles, after Sherkin Island, Clear Island and Long Island.
To reach Heir Island you need to park your vehicle at Cunnamore Pier and the only way to reach the island is by boat. Cunnamore Pier is located on the Skibbereen to Ballydehob Road off the N71.
Heir Island is only a four-minute ferry ride from Cunnamore Pier. The M.V. The bedroom located on the first floor has wooden floors, this bedroom has a 3ft bed & 2ft6 bed, The 2ft5 bed is suitable for a child only. This bedroom has a low door and ceiling plus there is a steep, narrow stairs to access this bedroom.
On the ground floor there is a separate wet room and toilet.
This unique holiday cottage in Ireland has tiled floors throughout. There is a washing machine and tumble dryer located in an external utility room.
Outside this pretty holiday cottage there is a tiered patio with outside furniture ideal for outside dining and relaxing. NB: 3-4 steps between patio levels.
Timmy’s Cottage on Heir Island is a 15 to 20-minute walk from the pier. There is a grocery delivery service available, by prior arrangement, 3 times a week. Grocery services on Monday, Wednesday and Friday during June – August and Monday and Friday for the rest of the year. There are also three eating choices on Heir Island, Fuzzy Duck Café, Island Cottage and PizzHeiria.
The Fuzzy Duck Café services tasty sweet treats daily and classics such as Claudia’s Gluten Free brownie. The beach is less than a minute away from the café with plenty of “table” space there with an ever-better view!
From PizzHeiria you can enjoy stunning sea views of Roaringwater Bay. Enjoy freshly made pizzas from the pine and oak wood pizza oven.
The Island Cottage is renowned for its delicious food and unique setting. Created by John Desmond and Ellmary Fenton this beautiful seasonal restaurant which attracts diners from the island and from the mainland. They also have a small cookery school running for 2 days to a week.
