The Twain Harte Cabin was a great stay for my friend and I. Kitchen was well stocked and the deck provided a great place to admire the surroundings. Overall it was a great cabin experience !
The cabin is very comfortable â great beds and bedding. It has much of the original hardware thatâs in impeccable shape. Obviously a very well loved cabin.
We loved how everything we would need was provided in this home. The kids got a kick out of washing their own dishes and they felt like they had all the space the needed in the loft. We canât wait to return.
My family and I enjoyed a relaxing, low tech retreat! I can't wait to do it again. Good food combined with a comfortable home and a fire made this a perfect trip. Thank you Lynette!
Loved this place! Only thing Iâd change is not having to bring sheets! Other than that itâs a wonderful cabin and Lynette is very responsive. Surrounding walking area very fun horses pond river etc.
Great tub upstairs - kitchen well stocked. Very clean đđ»đđ»
We loved this cottage, it was such a well kept, clean retro cabin with all the small details that made the stay quaint. We really enjoyed disconnecting and soaking in the peace and quiet. The cottage was stocked and had a fun kid room with great movies and books. My only advice is to make sure you have a car that can get up the driveway because it is steep! The entire process was easy and the owner was very responsive and helpful with recommendations. We will be back!
Itâs a beautiful cottage. Very cozy... Be very careful though... neighbors dogs tend to just pop up unannounced and be very annoying. The owners seem to not care. The black pug and mixed dog would taunt my dogs. The chihuahua would constantly bark at my kids to the point they would be afraid to play outside. Our dogs majority of the time had to be kept on the deck. Other than that the cottage was comfy and cozy.
Such a wonderfully cozy home to weather a winter storm in! Lynette the owner was so responsive / communicative by text. We had planned on driving up to Leland snow park or Dodge Ridge (~40min away) every day but ended up playing with our daughter on the property. Sledding down the driveway in the powder and building snow sculptures was part of our blissful daily routine followed by warming up by the fireplace.
Kitchen is fully equipped with anything youâd need to prepare a meal. The pilot light to the old wall heater in the living room went out on our 3rd day but there were enough space heaters and fireplace to keep things nice and toasty. Plenty of towels and blankets. Such a wonderful home away from home.
+600mbps internet! Couldâve streamed entertainment to our heartsâ content but ended up watching classic family movies from their expansive DVD collection.
Because of the snow we needed to park our minivan on the main road about 30 yards down the driveway. Thank goodness Lynette sent me a text to warn us before the snow hit. It wldâve been impossible to get our car up/down in this snow. Not even 4x4 vehicles were able to handle the steep grade. Obviously this property would not recommended if itâs snowing and anyone in your party requires handicap accessibility. For us it presented a super fun opportunity to sled down to our car every day to clear snow and warm up the engine.
We would come back in a heartbeat!
This cottage is great for 1-2 couples and kids. Best feature is the fireplace. Location has nice views and kitchen was well equipped. The photos are accurate and just a short drive into main part of town. Owner were very responsive to questions. We would stay again.
Good location just outside of town, plenty of food options 5-7 minute drive. Woodsy area, deer out the back window. Very clean, fully equipped kitchen. Convenient washer/dryer. Photos are accurate and up-to-date. I did not find the uphill driveway a problem at all. Prospective renters should note two items: as seen in the photos, you need to be comfortable on stairs. The traction strips def helped when wearing just socks. 2ndly, note the lack of central a/c (there is a portable a/c in the upstairs master bedroom). The temperatures hit triple-digits during my stay Aug 2022, and it was admittedly hot inside. My suggestion to the owner is more towels - one each bath towel, hand towel, and washcloth is a bit lite for a 3-day stay. But again very nice cottage, good layout, nice wood patio, flexible cancellation policy which fortunately I did not have to use.
Most unfortunately I got sick and was stuck at the cabin rather than out exploring. The cabin was pleasant and had a nice tree view, which I saw a lot of⊠The upstairs master bedroom where we slept had super comfy bed. Seems like a good base for exploring the area. Weâd go back!
This was a great property that worked really well for our needs. We had a ski weekend plan at Dodge and this cabin was great to unwind after a ski day. It was very clean and had all the amenities we needed. Lynette was always available to answer any questions, and the instructions to get the property were really helpful. Only thing to watch out is that we only noticed after checking in was the upstairs bathroom has a tub only option that is difficult to use as an adult esp if youâre tall because of the slanted ceiling it sits under. But otherwise just perfect!
Our family had a wonderful stay at the Bakerâs place in Twain Harte. The house was perfect for us with plenty of space and full amenities. The kids loved the loft room with all the games and videos to watch and my wife, our dog and I enjoyed sitting out on the deck under the beautiful trees.
Lynette is such a gracious host. Communication with her was so easy and she provided great information on the house and the local area. She was very accommodating and everything was set up better than anticipated.
Thanks so much Lynette! Weâll definitely recommend your place and hope to return soon.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin sits high on a hill so when you are sitting on the deck it feels like you are in a tree house! It was great for wildlife viewing - we saw loads of birds including a woodpecker and some passing deer. There is plenty of space indoors as well and a very well stocked kitchen. It was really hot while we were there so we appreciated shade on the deck, the fans throughout and air conditioning upstairs. There are 2 roads that lead up to the house - one has a very sharp turn but the other does not. My suggestion would be to take the entrance to the north (basically follow the instructions from Lynette instead of Google). The road is steep but we had no problem getting up and down. Most notable about our stay was our host. Lynette went above and beyond to accommodate our requests. It was evident that she cared a great deal about making our experience the best it could be. That included tips on dog- friendly things to do in the area like live music at Eproson Park on Saturday night - I recommend it!
First of all thanks to owners for letting us to stay, warm welcoming, informative, thoughtfully organized about everything you might need or could use. Beautiful cottage right in the middle of big tall trees, clean, quite. We wished that only the driveway was asphalt instead just gravels. We have small cedan and it was quite difficult to drive up hill to park. overall we enjoyed staying here and would recommend! thank you! Vita
We had a wonderful week relaxing in the forest. The place was very clean. There were some great local hikes and lakes we visited. We spent a lot of time enjoying the deck and relaxing indoors with board games, books, and puzzles! Despite the heat outside we were able to keep the inside very comfortable and the evenings were nice and cool! Loved it!
Perfect for a small family. Upstairs area was great for our 8 year old. Yosemite was no longer accepting new reservations when we came but it didnât matter. Pine rest lake and Beardsley lake were short drives away and super fun.
We are from Turlock, California. Gary is a newly retired veterinarian and Lynette was an RN/ but more wife and mom. Gary's parents purchased the cottage in 1968- we took ownership in 1992. We did lots of updates then and still enjoy improving the property to suit the needs of travelers. We have two adult children and five grandchildren 6 years old and under- guess what we enjoy doing?!?!
Our children grew up coming to the cottage. We have great memories in front of the fireplace playing board games on a snowy day or drinking hot chocolate after a ski/ snowboard day or barbecuing on the deck after water sports/ beach day/ hiking at Pinecrest.
BENEFITS OF THE COTTAGE: ***Close to Twain Harte town center ***Peaceful/ quiet ***Bureau of Land Management 5 feet in back of Cottage ***Semi- secluded ***Dining in large bay window among the Pines ***Wrap around deck with large seating area and cafe lights
