We had a great trip. The house was perfect for our large group. The kids loved playing yard games outside, playing tag around the house, and climbing trees. The adults enjoyed the large sunny deck. We all enjoyed the kayaks, very easy to transport to the water. Loved the quiet neighborhood, a great get away from the hecktic downtown.
My family had a great time at this beautiful home in Douglas. Great location- close to both downtown Douglas and Saugatuck. The backyard is expansive and very relaxing. Plenty of space inside for our group of 7. We appreciated that the owner was available by phone to answer a couple questions we had while there. Will definitely consider a return visit!
House was beautiful , very clean and convenient to the town. The living room ceiling fan was broken and could not be fixed while we were there. We made the owner aware but felt this should have been addressed before we arrived. It was very hot and could have used it. He was very apologetic however and genuinely felt bad.
Beautiful neighborhood and very quiet away from the noise. Highly recommend .

Beautiful area but house needs work
Douglas was amazing but unfortunately the house wasn't well maintained. The dish washer didn't work well and we had to wash dishes most of the week. I believe the trap wasn't being cleaned. We washed a load of clothes and the dryer didn't work. We had to go to a laundromat to dry them. The dryer vent was blocked with lint which is a fire hazard. I called the owner and he told me to call the handyman as he was on vacation. Wow... I was on vacation too and it wasn't my job to contact the handyman. The kitchen wasn't outfitted for cooking meals and was missing many basic supplies. We won't be back to this house but we loved Douglas and will find housing elsewhere.
Very nice relaxing place. The pond, in back really gave it character, but the geese sure made a mess, and the Cranes were beautiful. I thought the dock was out back ( at the pond), but it was a block away and the weeds were terrible. I was questioned by a neighbor(near the dock) if we were renting and he said that only one side of the dock was available (even though no one else was there). Everyone in the neighborhood seemed friendly.
The house was very spacious: clean, except for the outside siding. It had lots of spiders on it. The garage door was rickety and when I put it up I thought it was going to fall. One section of it came loose, at the bottom. I called the owner who was vey pleasant and accommodating. He called the repairman but
the repairman never showed up.
Lots of dishes, towels, soap, etc. It was a lot of fun being with family at a big house that everyone had room for, and being near Saugatuck, and Lake Michigan.
First off - the listing says you can change your dates up to 60 days prior, THIS IS NOT TRUE. We wanted to shorten our stay by one day and were told if we want to shorten it, cancel the whole thing and they'll find someone else to rent for the weekend - so clearly false advertising. Make sure your dates are solid because you can't change them.
This is the second time I've stayed at this property. The house is big enough for a large family. The kayaking is wonderful. The inside of the house is mostly maintained - some burned out lightbulbs, but nothing major to that end. The kitchen is not stocked at all - there is a grill but no grilling utensils. It's a very bare bones kitchen when it comes to supplies. Bring your own sponge, paper towels, dishwashing detergent, etc. Also, there is a washer and dryer but the dryer doesn't work very well. Ran our towels in it three times and they were still wet. There is only one TV, so if you want to watch more than one thing, bring your own device.
The outside is full of weeds. I mentioned this last year but still looks the same. The landscaping is atrocious and not like the pictures. Other than lawn mowing, the outside is not maintained. There isn't a regular firepit anymore - it is a gas one now, not amazing for roasting marshmallows. But it works.
It is a great location. Not far from the beach, downtown Saugatuck, Holland. Easy to get around. The bedrooms are spacious and have big closets - but like I mentioned, no TVs in the bedrooms. Great amenities - ping pong table in the basement, kayaks in the garage, a hammock and table/chairs outside. Small beach area to enjoy by a pond with nice fountains.
Would recommend, but come prepared with the basics that a house should have and know your dates.
Went up to Michigan for a long weekend with idk college friends. We really enjoyed the place. With it being Memorial Day weekend however a lot of the outside areas looked as if they hadn't been checked on in a long time. For instance there was cobwebs in the doorway going from the kitchen to outside, the grill was was out of propane gas and a lot of the outdoor chairs had blown throughout the yard. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay!
Nice quiet neighborhood, easy access to several towns in area. House can be a bit loud-sound really carries throughout. When walking upstairs the downstairs can hear it, especially in downstairs bedroom. Kitchen pretty well stocked with pans, plates etc except for baking sheet. Back patio very nice and lots of chairs! Overall, we had a great time and would recommend!
We had a wonderful stay here. The house was spacious and accommodated us (5 adults) well. It was very convenient to get to Douglas, Saugatuck, and other nearby areas. We loved the big windows and sitting outside, but the best part for me was the access to the kayaks and canoes. We kayaked multiple times during our stay and it was beautiful.
If staying for a long duration, check the pre-arrival email and/or do an inventory of whatâs available in the house in order to plan grocery shopping.
We left the property. The only drawback we had was the kayaks were not able to be used because the water level was low enough that we couldnât get them into the water and if we did, we could not get out of the kayaks back onto the dock there were no stairs attached that would give you easy access to and from the kayaks once in the water. The other few things that we had we contacted the maintenance guy that had been suggested and he came out and handled the situation.
First time in the area and we really liked it. Sand hill cranes in the back yard were a hit. Only issiue was the TV Dish was not working during our stay. I am sure it is fixed now. We would stay there again.
My wife, her family and I stayed here for a weekend and this was a wonderful home with many nice sized rooms. It was very clean and in a beautiful neighborhood. It was close enough to downtown Saugatuck and every other neighboring areas we visited (like Holland). Selim was very friendly and quick to respond to any messages I had. I will definitely stay here in the future.

We are both scientists and live and work in Chicago. We fell in love with the peace and beauty of the Saugatuck Douglas Area when we came for a visit. Now it is our favorite destination to get away from the city and relax on the beach, eat at the waterfront restaurants and check the latest paintings in the galleries.
