Great locale, close enough to towns we wanted to visit. Comfortable furniture and bed!Did not realize there was a steepish outdoor staircase; we took that pretty slowly!Bathtubs need a safety mat, storm door handle kept coming off.. .The VIEW and surroundings were enchanting!Owner was very good with suggestions, etc. .
We had a great stay, but first let me tell you what this place isn't. It isn't a fancy chalet. It isn't pristine and perfect. it isn't new and fresh. So if those things are important to you.
Now, let me tell you what it is.
It is well designed with two bedrooms that each have a king bed and a bathroom. It is a small, cozy and comfortable place to stay at a great price. It is a place that has increible views with a full wall of windows.
My wife and I stayed with another couple for a trip to visit "Mayberry" in Mt. Airy. This place gave us a great place to enjoy a mountain setting off the Blue Ridge Parkway that was less than 30 minutes away. As long as you don't show up with expectations of a pristine and updated chalet, you'll enjoy the place as much as we did, which was we enjoyed our stay a lot.
The condo served us well as we were in the area for a family reunion. While the property did not feel the cleanest, it was comfortable and I feel that part of it was the age of the property. It needs a few updates but was well stocked for what we needed. I would not hesitate to stay there again.
Great place to enjoy the blue ridge parkway and the beautiful mountains. Owner was great and quick to respond. We had a mishap and Ben took care of it for us and really helped us out. I highly recommend if you are looking for peacefulness and scenery.
My husband and I recently stayed at this condo for 4 nights. I cannot say enough positive things about the lodging, as well as the communication with Ben, the property owner. He sent very detailed driving instructions and we didn't have any trouble finding the location. The view is even more amazing than the pictures. The location literally just off the parkway is very convenient for exploring the stops both north and south. It was very quiet and relaxing the entire time; not sure why some of the other reviewers commented about the neighbor who lives above. We heard footsteps a few times, but it was not disturbing to us. I also want to mention the owners' attention to the "little things" that made a big impression on me--thick, soft towels, soft, plush throws, and quality tissue paper. We have stayed in several VRBO locations and usually get the thin, inexpensive towels and tissue. We will definitely stay here again if we return to this area and will recommend to family and friends, Thanks, Ben, for sharing your comfortable condo with us!
We were only there for a very limited time as we were traveling through but intend to extend our time when we pass through again. Quaint feel, nice and tidy. Great view.
The accommodations were clean and comfortable. While we have been seeking properties in this area off/on for a decade, our stay here really opened our eyes to the Hideaway Lifestyle. Everything we needed to sustain outdoors adventures or to just âhole upâ during inclimate weather. Our return is inevitable.
This was like a home away from home. The property was just as advertised, cozy and well equipped. It was my first time booking a vrbo and the owner went above and beyond to ensure we found the location and had everything we needed. Great stay!
My husband and I stayed at the condo during Floydfest so we didnât spend much time there. The location just off the parkway was ideal and a beautiful drive to and from the festival. The condo is very well stocked, comfortable and clean. It was quiet during our stay. Communication from the owner was prompt and detailed. I would definitely stay there again.
We really enjoyed our stay. The house had everything you needed and more. The owner made sure we had accurate details on how to get to the condo. He is super pleasant and responds quickly to any questions or concerns. There is a permanent resident that lives up stairs, we heard him from time to time but he was cool. He didn't bother us at all. His music was pretty chill too! The condo was warm, cozy and inviting. It felt like home away from home to me. I'd definitely stay there again!
Need better bug company. Not a fan of all the spiders. Ants crawling on us and larva crawling across floor and falling out of ceiling onto us.
Owner was very quick to respond. .
Was nice to watch the birds at the feeder and the view was nice.
Donât like giving a crappy review, but I clean for a living with a realty company and the inspector would have called me back.
Spent several weeks there. Had a plumbing issue the first couple days but the owner arranged for all the fixes. Nice set-up. Two en-suite bedrooms and full kitchen and nice furniture and fireplace in the living room. Balcony view was beautiful and spent alot of time out there. Would stay again for sure
We spent the weekend in this adorable condo and it was perfect! The location was great and we enjoyed the Blue Ridge Parkway and surrounding little towns, Floyd, VA and Mt. Airy, NC.
The area is so beautiful and serene. We loved sitting on the balcony and listening to and watching the birds. The instructions for opening the door came in handy when it was a little stubborn one time.
The air freshener was very overpowering for us, we finally found the source and unplugged it from the outlet.
The kitchen is nice and well appointed, couches have seen better days, not super comfortable for us.
I read other reviews about loud upstairs neighbors but didn't think it would be a problem, I have kids and they are loud... I didn't expect them to be making a raucous at 3 am. It sounded like they were rearranging the furniture up there! I know that is out of the owner's control. But if you (or your spouse) are a light sleeper (we had a fan on and it was still loud enough to wake my husband) this might not be the right fit for you.
I live just outside Charlotte in Fort Mill SC but was born in Mount Airy, NC and grew up in Mount Airy and Hillsville, VA . My wife is from Asheville, NC. You can take the girl out of the mountains but you can't take mountain out of the girl. We purchased our little slice of Heaven and get up whenever we can to enjoy the cool mountain air and enjoy a stress free time away from life down below. We decided since we could not be there all the time it was to nice not to share. We rented through a rental company for several years but decided we could provide our guest a better experience with upgraded linens, a fully appointed kitchen and a more comfortable stay.
