This place is so peaceful. Very clean. Reasonably priced. Sounds of the river. No traffic. Everything you need to stay here is provided. A great place to get away from everything. Definitely stay here again.
This is a repeat rental (5 years so far) for our family of grown children and grandchildren. We raft and play in the river, disconnect 90% from technology (but the wi-fi is great), play games and prepare meals in the family/style kitchen equipped with everything we need. Host Estelle is always responsive. The memories made here are some of the grandchildrenâs fondest memories - as well as all the rest of us. It is our âhappy placeâ, and always feels like coming home!
My siblings and I were there from Missouri for my fatherâs Celebration of Life. The Dan River property was just what the doctor ordered: peaceful and serene. The property is a perfect private hideaway with room to move and think. The home housed myself and my five siblings comfortablyâŠvery homey with loads of charm and character. I hope this property is available every time I plan to visit the Ararat area!
We really enjoyed our stay at Dan River house. It was myself, husband and 85 year old mother. We enjoyed having our coffee in the morning on front porch listening to river. And in the evening watching the turkeys and at night the lighting bugs havenât seen them in a long time. Thanks again Estelle for letting us stay.
This house was perfect for 4 couples. It was so peaceful and quiet. You could hear Dan River when sitting on the porch. We were close enough to everything. They had games and things for children as well. I would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway. Thanks for sharing your house with us.
Location, location, location! So quiet and peaceful. We stayed during winter so even more peaceful. Did not catch and fish but were told they migrate in winter. That was evident as we are avid anglers. Mt. Airy has all services and supplies one might need plus plenty of places to eat and historical things to do. The cons: Well water with sulfur smell. That takes some getting used to. Bottled water is a must. kitchen was ill equipped for any foodies thinking of renting (bring your favorite frying pan), and there was a leak under the sink (we emptied the pan once during our 4 night stay). Finally, the beds are worn and mine even had either a fallen or a broken slat. The pros: We made the kitchen work with what we had. Also, the place is super cozy and the host very responsive. The place was spotless upon check-in. Overall a great stay and would definitely rent this place again. The highlight: On the first day pulling in, a golden eagle flew up off the Dan River near the bridge just before the home. Magnificent!
Enjoyed our stay, smell of sulfur in the water, however bottled water was furnished for drinking and tooth washing. Mattresses could be improved. Relaxing beautiful home in perfect location. We would stay again.
We loved the area so much. The house was perfect. Festival was in town . Bonus. Loved the Blue ridge mountain parkway.
We ate out a couple of times. Made breakfast, an 2 dinners lots of fun playing cards in the evening. Perfect weekend getaway. Our host Estella was very helpful. Thanks Teresa
My family and i took a break during a long trip to rest and rejuvenate at the Dan River House. Quiet and beautiful place. Mount Airy, NC, one of my favorite places, is a short drive away. Great place to unwind. The gas grill is a great place to grill up a nice sirf and turf dinner, or burgers and dogs.
The Dan River House is a great place to unwind and relax. It's so nice to just sit on the porch and listen to the river. Estelle is also the best host. She is easy to get in touch with and prompt in responding to any concerns you may have. My husband said we will definitely be back :)
Wish it was more available! You got to be quick reserving the Dan House! Very relaxing home and area. Ths host is amazing, very accommodating. Cant wait to go back!
We love to host family events as well as gatherings with friends. We also enjoy all the local festivals and drives along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Playing - tubing - fishing - wading in Dan River makes great family memories.
This property can accomodate a large family at a very reasonable price while providing an ample variety of activities both on the property and nearby towns. We are about an hour's drive from Winston-Salem NC, with Hanes Mall, Reynolda House, Kaledium Museum, Old Salem, Bethabara. Several State Parks: Pilot Mtn., and Hanging Rock NC and Fairy Stone Park in VA.
This home is very secluded, yet less than half a mile from a well traveled secondary road. Just 15 miles NE of Mount Airy, NC (Mayberry), with it's festivals, great restaurants and shopping. Drive about 7 miles up to the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway for magnificent views at the many overlooks. Just 3 miles to the Claudville entrance to Primland Resort with fine dining and world class golf course.
