Superbe chalet situé dans le village hameau de Guthrie, niché entre le célèbre château de Guthrie et l'église médiévale. Un bâtiment entièrement rénové cotée qui était l'ancien bureau de poste et Smithy. Capacité d'accueil jusqu'à 8/9 plus 1 enfant avec 3 chambres, 2 salles de bains réparties sur 2 niveaux. Il propose un salon spacieux et possède tout le confort moderne, y compris 2 grands téléviseurs intelligents, TNT, wifi, lecteur DVD, console Nintendo Wii. Le rez de chaussée se compose de: - grand plan ouvert cuisine / salle à manger / salon avec grande poêle à bois; deuxième salon avec un grand canapé d'angle; chambre kingsize; salle de bains principale avec douche et baignoire autoportante; buanderie et salle d'eau. Premier étage: - 1 kingsize chambre; 1 chambre double -Will dormir 3 sur demande. A l'arrière de la propriété il y a un grand beau jardin de campagne et d'un parking pour 3-4 voitures. Cette propriété a été soigneusement rénové pour les plus hauts standards.

The cottage was absolutely the best! I don’t know how I could describe it more effectively than just saying it was the best. Our host was responsive and helpful in our stay was wonderful.

Lovely cottage in a quiet location

We spent 5 days here over Easter and had a great time. The cottage had everything the children and adults needed with plenty of space. The location of the property was perfect with great cycling routes around Guthrie. We would certainly recommend the Smithy.

Fun group holiday

Booking was easy, found the property without any problem so supermarket delivery came on time. Plenty space and living area layout met our needs. The games room was fun £1 per game of pool, unfortunately pinball was out of order. Nice house to spend time with friends.

A great getaway with friends.

We loved our stay in Guthrie. A super, clean, large property with two living zones plus a large games room. We visited as two families getting together (four kids ranging from ages 9-15). There was space for everyone to relax and have fun. We’d definitely return. 😊

Sehr schönes Anwesen mit sehr guter Ausstattung

Großzügig geschnittenes Anwesen mit sehr guter Ausstattung. Alles sauber und in sehr gepflegtem Zustand. Netter Vermieter, der sich bei anfänglichen Bedienungsschwierigkeiten des Außengasgrills sofort gekümmert hat. Eigentlich toller Spieleraum mit Billard, Tischkicker und Flipper, leider aber kostenpflichtig für jedes Spiel, das war schade und hätte bei der Miete miteinschlossen sein dürfen. Wir haben den Zugang zu einem Staubsauger vermisst, um zumindest mal im Küchen-Essraum und auch mal in den Bädern kurz durchsaugen zu können (nur als Verbesserungsvorschlag). Insgesamt jedoch sehr empfehlenswert!

Perfect Xmas get together

Met with family to celebrate Xmas. Everything we could have needed provided, lots of space and great garden space for our 2 dogs. Didn’t venture far from the cottage as there to spend time together. Quiet and peaceful surroundings

Smithy House - super stay!

Lovely big cottage which has a traditional feel, includes the history but has a modern twist in areas. Very clean and exceptionally well stocked kitchen. Quiet location with short driving distance to local towns. Lovely gardens with bbq, outdoor seating at front and back and lots of extra seats in garden shed. Ample parking at rear of property (we fit 3 cars in) and also space for another car at the front if needed. Lots of games and dvds provided for entertainment. Just a shame we were too early for the games room extension however it looks really good.

Beautiful cottage in a very picturesque small village. Cottage was clean on arrival and had everything we needed. Excellent communication with Jim prior to and during our stay, who sorted out the travel cot for us. Would recommend.

Lovely property, great location

Lovely property overall, looking a little tired in places but nothing so bad it would spoil your stay. Booking confirmation and listing costing need attention ie the listing stated pet fee was included but had to make an additional direct payment, also checkout was stated as 11am but was advised we needed to vacate by 9am although the owner did agree to us being there till 10am on the basis we would strip the beds. So lovely home, well equipped, triple check the detail.

Great family holiday

Had a great holiday here over New Year. The house was beautifully decorated with a Christmas tree and lights, the table was set with crackers etc for us arriving. The whole house was immaculately clean from top to bottom - they have a fab cleaner! The beds are very comfy, the house is well heated and is cosy. The kitchen is well equipped with all you need. No complaints at all. As others have said note that you have to go through the second lounge to use the toilets which can be a problem for whoever is sleeping on the sofa bed. The sofa bed is a very comfortable king sized one which our teenagers all fought over. We were two families sharing and there was plenty room, lots of hot water for showers which was a bonus after some pretty rainy walks. Thanks for a lovely holiday!

Beautiful and spacious character cottage.

Smithy house is a very recent conversion of a historic property in the charming village of Guthrie outside Forfar. Superbly appointed, the renovation has been done to the highest standards with a light, airy and contemporary feel throughout but with tasteful details here and there to evoke a sense of place. Spotlessly presented, the owners have provided all the key equipment and appliances you could wish for and the furnishings are all new including very comfortable beds. A nice garden area and rural location right next to Guthrie Castle complete the picture. Do just note that if the sofa bed in the second living room is used, guests in the other bedrooms would have to cross that space to access either of the bathrooms. Overall what's not to like?! Very highly recommended.

Lovely and pleasant house

The property is spot on and perfect in every way. It is very spacious, well equipped, and very clean.It is ideal for a family with children. A shame we could not stay longer. The location is very good and Angus is worth visiting. We will be back if we can. Highly recommend the property

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

We loved the history of Guthrie and surrounding area. Just by chance on a Sunday drive we passed the cottage and immediately fell in love with it. It was picture postcard and we knew with a bit of TLC it would be amazing.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

Being in between the world famous Guthrie Castle and Church. We have since encountered visitors from America, Australia and Ireland who have all been part of the Guthrie Clan. It is a unique and magical place.
