Third-Floor Oceanfront Condo with Balconies & Pool

Playa Caribe 8 is a third-floor condo in Akumal’s central Playa Caribe tower, designed for guests who want sweeping views and stylish comfort. This middle unit boasts a sunrise-perfect terrace, two ensuite bedrooms with private balconies, and space for up to five guests.

The primary suite includes a king bed, ensuite bath, and balcony with ocean views. The guest bedroom offers a queen bed plus a single sofa bed and private bath, making it versatile for couples, families, or friends. Both bedrooms and the open living areas are cooled with central AC.

The living room flows onto a large furnished terrace overlooking Half Moon Bay, where you can enjoy 180-degree views of the Caribbean. The kitchen is fully equipped with a breakfast bar and modern appliances, while colorful décor inspired by the sea frames the dining area.

Guests enjoy daily housekeeping, beach towels, purified water, parking, and concierge support. Shared amenities include a pool, BBQ grill, loungers, and outdoor shower.

Half Moon Bay is a secure and quiet neighborhood with coral reef and calm waters, excellent for snorkeling. Yal Ku Lagoon, Akumal Bay, and restaurants are walkable. For exploring ruins, cenotes, or nearby towns, a rental car or private driver is recommended. Playa Caribe is one of Akumal’s original condominiums, renowned for service and location.

Playa Caribe's location offers both convenience and privacy. It's steps away from the festive Buena Vida bar and restaurant as well as the romantic seaside eatery La Lunita. The popular Yal-Ku snorkeling lagoon is also a short walk. Half Moon Bay is a quieter alternative to the busier Akumal bay, and its white-sand beach never feels crowded.

KINDLY NOTE: South winds may bring Sargasso Seaweed to some beaches throughout the Caribbean, including the Rivera Maya. While the situation is hard to predict for each specific week and area, we would like you to be aware as there is the potential to impact the beach and water entry.

The Riviera Maya is full of natural beauty, places to explore and opportunities for outdoor activities. We have a great list of activities and adventures completely unaffected by the arrival of sargasso that we would love to share with you. Stunning ocean views! Very clean and had everything we needed. Easy walk to Yal-ku lagoon and a few restaurants. Daily housekeeping was a plus. It is up three flights of stairs, but it was worth it.

Family Vacation

Tye 3 of us went to have a relaxing end of summer vacation and that's exactly what we got. Enjoyed the snorkeling right in front of the condo. The people in Akumal were so friendly. Can't wait to go back.

Excellent stay

The condo was exactly as advertised and can’t beat the view. The only small critique I would make is that the living room couches are not comfortable or make it easy to enjoy sitting for family time. Need to chisel them out and put comfy chairs or couches in. But the rest of condo is excellent. Towels are plush and plentiful, kitchen is very well equipped. Would consider staying again if ever vacation back in the akumal area.

Ocean views, sounds and breezes

The only way to be closer to the ocean would be to stay on a boat. This condo gives stunning ocean views by day and soothing sounds of the surf at night. It is a short walk away from two of our favorite Akumal restaurants: La Lunita and La Buena Vida. The kitchen is well equipped, but it has no real oven. We didn't need the air conditioning during our January stay because ocean breezes and an array of ceiling fans kept us comfortable. Can't wait to return.

Reviewer Comments: Our family of four had a lovely time, greatly enjoying the properties, comfortable accommodations, thoughtful, amenities, and fantastic location on half Moon Bay within short, walking distance of several great restaurants and a short five minute drive to a dive shop and additional shopping and restaurants. We highly recommend eating at jungle Café, la Lunita, and AK Restaurant. It was also super convenient to have a small market literally across the street from the property to buy groceries and drinks. Being on half Moon Bay was also much more private and quieter than staying on Akumal Bay while still being very accessible to all the amenities of Akumal Bay and Plaza.

Amazing Vacation

The view of the entire Half Moon Bay was beyond beautiful! Only downside for us (I will learn to check in the future) is the condo was located on the third floor and the building did not have an elevator. Due to the time we arrived, late afternoon, there were no staff available to assist us with our heavy luggage (my husband and I are over 65 yrs old). Regardless, we will definitely rent this condo in the future!

Beautiful, comfortable condo with everything you need

The condo and complex are very nice! Everything was in working order and the kitchen had absolutely everything we needed. Sunsets from the roof are lovely. The condo was extremely comfortable and everything was in working order. The Sargassum seaweed was in which was a bummer. It forced us to travel for our beach days. It was disappointing that you have to pay an access fee to go to Akumal beach (which had less seaweed bc it faces south).

We inform all arriving guests about beach conditions prior to check-in. Akumal Bay has a permit for machinery. We are always available for questions. Awesome trip, beautiful condo, spectacular view!

My family and I absolutely oved our stay in Akumal! The condo was spotless and had an amazing view from the balcony. The locals were beyond friendly and the snorkeling was great! From our balcony we saw sea turtles and all kinds of sea life each day. The ocean was calm enough and shallow enough that both of my young children spent the majority of each day snorkeling. The sunrises and sunsets were spectacular, and the sound of ocean waves crashing just beneath our balcony washed all of our worries away. La Buena Vida was our favorite restaurant of the whole trip! We would definitely return here in the future should our travels bring us back to Akumal and would love to rent the exact same place. Book it!

We were on the third floor so had wonderful views of the bay. The condo itself was clean and neat, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. The living area was a bit thin and hard to lounge around in the evenings, it could use a couch or two.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We talked to so many people and saw different properties online and in person and feel we made the best choice. Unobstructed ocean view is right - we could not get tired of this view and loved #8 because its balcony on the third floor jutted out. Kitchen set up - excellent though would have loved a better barbecue or grill on site or in the suite. Balcony - huge with room for lounger and table and chairs though would recommend upgrade from white plastic furniture. Loved pineapple, coffee and filtered water on arrival. Golf cart great but not necessary unless you have mobility issues - we rented bikes or walked the 2nd week. Car recommended if you want to visit places every second day with family.

Second time here

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our second time back at Playa Caribbean. Unit eight. We found it exactly as we left it. It’s a perfect location. The seating around the pool is adequate and beautiful. I think it is the nicest located condo on half Moon Bay. The pool is a little hard to get out of when you were older it could use, a ladder or another step. The one complaint that I would have is they need to change the mattresses and pillows. They were pretty uncomfortable this time. It had a slight smell of mildew. But overall it was a really great and vacation.

Wonderful Vacation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The room was very nice, views were top notch! The room actually came with more than we knew such as jug water service, which was nice. It actually also came with daily maid service which we weren't expecting, also nice. The sargassum wasn't amazing, but what do you do. It wasn't too bad. The level fluctuated every day. Once you got out into the water to snorkel, you could easily avoid it. It was still better than akumal playa for snorkeling I thought. We were here last 14 years ago and then I would say Akumal playa hands down, but times have changed and it's gotten really crowded over there. This bay was very quiet and we saw a lot of cool sealife just outside the condo. I would recommend gold cart rental during your stay, it really makes getting around easier and nicer, especially with kids.

Amazing view, gorgeous unit!

The condo is pretty much at the center of Half Moon Bay, great location with nearby restaurants, bars and shops to walk or golf cart to. The condo was incredible- very clean, roomy, comfortable beds and couch, and well stocked kitchen. The kitchen supplies were in great condition (pots, pans, etc) and there was a toaster oven to use along with nice electric stove and microwave. Housekeeping was quick and did a great job everyday. The views!! Oh my! Each bedroom had a small personal balcony and the large balcony off main living area looks directly over the bay and ocean. We spent most of the time on the patio enjoying the view and beeeze. It’s large with 4 seat patio table and large lounger and it still felt spacious. The main patio is further out than the bedroom patios making them all feel nice and private. The building was very clean, always smelled fresh, has amazing plants in the atrium area, and many units had stained glass windows enhancing the beauty of the building. Large pool with more patio tables and loungers in common area overlooking ocean. Pool was clean and quiet- no loud groups or messes. Relaxing! We rented a golf cart that was charged and ready to go as soon as we arrived. This was so much fun and allowed us to explore more of the area, get to dive shop quickly, and sweat less!! You gotta do this. David with the concierge service was so helpful arranging the golf cart rental, transportation to and from airport/around the area.

The view was lovely but there were way too many rocks along the beach and in the water. Even wearing water shoes was a challenge. Not much of a shoreline to walk. Its was definitely not a swimming beach. Our housekeeping lady Particia was very nice and kept our condo very clean. We had many problems. The windows shook and rattled so loudly we couldn't sleep we contacted our hosts who sent maintenance to fix several things. Very rarely did we have hot water. The kitchen never had hot water. Again had maintenance come but the kitchen still never had hot water. The one sink in the bathroom. Was broken and couldn't drain. The toilet needed repair to flush. The fridge was older and noisy. The sofa was old and very uncomfortable. I don't think this place has ever been updated. Other guests had to be spoken to because of smoking and having glass and glass bottes by the pool. After speaking to people who live in Half Moon Bay, and had previously owned two of the condo units in our building , they told us that when vacationers stay longer, they get a discount. We were there a month and were never offered a discount, nor were we offered any kind of compensation for all of the issues we had. We made the best of it but were very disappointed that we were not given anything for our inconveniences. The lagoon down the road was lovely to snorkel in, and there is a sandy beach that you must pay to get in. Only convience stores, the grocery store is down the highway a ways. Bus or car.

An incredible vacation experience

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: An incredible vacation experience. We rented unit number eight. There were four of us. My husband and I and my son and his guest. Both bedrooms had their own beautiful bathrooms and private balcony overlooking the ocean. From the bed to the water was approximately 40 feet! Every night we fell asleep listening to the waves in the wind. It was magnificent The town is full of fantastic restaurants. Several you can walk to. The beach in front is rocky and had a lot of seaweed but it was beautiful and serene. Bring water shoes it’s rocky. The pool is small but refreshing. I wish they had a ladder or stairs to help you get out of the pool. It’s harder for older people. Also there is no elevator and we had to climb up three flights of stairs to get into our condo. But once you got up it there The view was worth it. The condo was well stocked. You could cook a meal in the kitchen all of the utensils and pans were there. Overall it was an incredible vacation. We met several people who had returned to Akumal for several years and we could definitely see why.

Wonderful Vacation!

The views were magnificent of the bay. Loved swimming in the pool. I would not recommend the unit to anyone with mobility issues as it is on the 3rd floor.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We are a couple and spent 3 weeks in unit #8. The view as you walk in the door is spectacular. We enjoyed the well-equipped kitchen, there is a toaster oven to replace not having an oven. The bathrooms have views to the sea and we loved the sound of the surf night and day. We “worked from home” and there were internet issues which were being resolved, otherwise was a perfect spot to work from the dining table or island or covered deck. We loved the accommodating staff, the unit was always spotless, water jug replaced when needed, and building water filtered and potable. Need water shoes for easy entry off this beachfront. It was windy and wavy while we were there so snorkelling and swimming not experienced as easily as expected (still great). Excellent location for us, two easily walkable restaurants by road or beach, La Buena Vida and La Lunita, charming and excellent food. We rented bikes for the duration and I loved taking the ride into town. Seeing the turtles at Akumal Beach with a guide is out of this world. Yal-Ku lagoon nearby for snorkelling. The corner store across from Playa Caribe had just about everything we might have needed for a shorter stay, including alcohol and fridge foods, some fruit and snacks. We had a car but Augustin or the property manager was always on-site and quick to help with anything. Pleasant surprises were the unit has a cabinet full of games, and a cooler and beach chairs and umbrella which we could take to other beaches for a picnic. The pool area is well maintained and beach front chairs plentiful. This area is quiet. You hear other guests by the pool sometimes, as expected, but overall surf, stars, sunrises, and a comfortable relaxed atmosphere. Wish we had brought binoculars to scan the sea life off the deck. The size of the unit accommodated us well and our daughter when she came to visit. We are grateful for their attention to detail and would return to this location in a heartbeat.

Magical Akumal

Playa Caribe was a perfect choice to stay on the Coast. The Condo needed some nudging with a shower. No big deal, It got worked out immediately. There was always someone there to fix or work on something. The staff is friendly and laid back. I loved that. The condo is situated between two restaurants evenly. So that was nice. We were staying the same time as some owners were there. And they were lovely as well. I will recommend it anytime to everybody. Oh The sunrises were the absolute best.

The casa is well appointed with everything you need to cook, enjoy the beach and relax! The air conditioning at night was great for sleeping. The bed is comfortable. I really can't think of any about the casa I would change. The beach out front is a little skinny, but the deck chairs and cover from the sun is great. The staff was very responsive and helpful.

The condo was perfect - the location, the cleanliness, the onsite staff, the comfortable bed and the fully stocked kitchen utensils. We lacked for nothing. And the view is so beautiful. What a great place to unwind and enjoy life. We will definitely return!
