Newly Updated Beachfront Condo with Terrace, Pool & Daily Service

Playa Caribe 5 is a second-floor condo in the central tower of Half Moon Bay’s Playa Caribe. With two bedrooms, each furnished with a king bed and ensuite bath, plus a queen sofa bed in the living room, it sleeps five comfortably. Both bedrooms have ocean views and a small balcony overlooking the bay.

The condo is newly updated and filled with bright touches of Mexican design—hand-painted Talavera tiles, local textiles, and a cheerful dining space with sea views. A fully equipped kitchen includes modern appliances and a large dining area. The oceanfront terrace offers incredible Caribbean views and a perfect place to enjoy coffee, meals, or evening cocktails.

Daily housekeeping, purified water, and beach towels keep your stay stress-free. Shared amenities include a pool, BBQ grill, loungers, and outdoor shower. Concierge staff provide support for tours, airport transfers, and grocery delivery.

Half Moon Bay is part of a secure, gated community with calm waters and a coral reef ideal for snorkeling. Restaurants, Yal Ku Lagoon, Akumal Bay, and dive shops are all within walking distance. A rental car or private driver is recommended for exploring cenotes, ruins, and nearby towns, though taxis and golf carts are readily available. Playa Caribe is one of Akumal’s most established beachfront condominiums, known for attentive service and its prime location.

KINDLY NOTE: South winds may bring Sargasso Seaweed to some beaches throughout the Caribbean, including the Rivera Maya. While the situation is hard to predict for each specific week and area, we would like you to be aware as there is the potential to impact the beach and water entry.

We have a great list of activities and adventures completely unaffected by the arrival of sargasso that we would love to share with you. Plenty of towels and purified water! The property managers texted to check on us and respond to our questions. We walked to restaurants and Yal-Ku for snorkeling. The neighborhood was quiet and safe and everyone was kind and welcoming! I’d go back in the winter months when the seaweed isn’t a problem. We were warned, but the amount of seaweed was shocking and we never got in the water in the bay. That was too bad. However we found plenty to do and had a great time.

Wonderful week at Playa Caribe #5

Playa Caribe is great property set in the middle of Half Moon Bay. Unit #5 has everything you need for a comfortable and convenient stay, and the view is spectacular! Many great restaurants are within walking distance, as is Yal Kul Lagoon. This area is a snorkeler's paradise, and we were pleased that the weather cooperated and we were able to go out every day. The owner of this property was great about sending information about things to do and places to eat in the area prior to our arrival. It was a great vacation and we hope to return again in the coming years.

Perfect!

We just returned from an absolutely perfect Akumal vacation. From the moment we walked in, we knew Annie's condo was special. The condo is immaculate and the daily maid service is wonderful. The festive decor is perfect. There are two AMAZING tile huge bathtubs that we all loved. The staff is wonderful as well as the security, they were on top of everything. Akumal itself is warm and fun but small enough to feel cozy. Thank you, thank you for such a perfect trip.

We were so delighted with our first stay we had to come again and we were not disappointed. Besides a very lovely condo with an incredible balcony, view and most importantly the staff there was even more amazing the second time. We so enjoyed the staff who were friendly, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. We felt perfectly safe and pampered from the daily cleaning to the help with our luggage. Great place...

Loved the traditional style of the place. Of course, the view is fantastic and you not only have a view forward on the patio but the sides are open also for additional view. Spent alot of time on that patio! As noted on the listing, the WiFi was perfect and the air conditioning was perfect and comfortable. Hot water was endless. Kitchen was fully stocked. Akumal is more of a low key area versus Playa de Carmen and Cancun. Went down to Tulum one day and that is getting so busy, I was so glad to get back to Akumal and Annie's place that day to relax again. Great place! Thank you Annie.

Loved Playa Caribe #5

We stayed for 10 days at Playa Caribe in unit #5 and loved the vacation. Annie is fantastic to deal with and she has lots of information about the area. The condo is very clean, with daily cleaning, well stocked kitchen and fantastic view of the bay. The staff was great at helping when we needed anything. The town is a 15 minute walk, 2 restaurants are only 5-10 minutes away. There are lots of rocks when getting into the water but we knew this and had water shoes which helped a lot. The water was warm with small waves for the first part of the vacation and then really calm for the end. It was a very relaxing vacation and I would definitely recommend unit #5!

Dear Annie and John, Thank you for sharing your special place with us. Everything was perfect!! Your condo is beautifully decorated and well stocked for comfort and functionality. We have been to this area many times, but Akumal is the most centrally located place to stay and we would come again. Coba and Rio Secreto were very easy drives and, of course, the lagoon is around the corner. We spent the $20 for the Palapa at the lagoon and felt it was worth it for the entire day. Not to mention the great snorkeling and sea life right out front. Overall, a relaxing, fantastic vacation. Nice Friday Night lobster dinner for our 15th anniversay at La Lunita. Thanks for the great reference library, maps, brochures, reef books, etc.

Nothing can compete with waking every morning and seeing the beautiful blue water. Seriously we were literally within 20ft from the water. The pool was great for laying in the sun or going for a swim. Snorkeling was amazing right out the front door. If you are interested in seeing Tulum or Playa please plan on renting a car. Otherwise everything you need is within walking distance. This is a fantastic property! You won’t regret it for sure.

Annie should be a travel agent!

Annie's place is beautiful! She has everything you could ever need in her Condo. If you've thought about it, she's got it! One of the things I loved most is her attention to the details. She has thought about Everything. CARM (the shuttle service, she told us about) was worth every penny! The staff at Playa Caribe are very pleasant! We had an excellent time and my husband is already talking about booking for next year!! Oh ya, He went fishing one day with "DOG", caught 3 El dorato. We had some for dinner. Very tasty! Too bad it had to end...!

I almost hesitate to say how much the 4 of us enjoyed this condo, because it may get harder to book in the future. It is advertised as the best condo in Half Moon Bay and I would certainly agree! The view from the deck is breathtaking, and the amenities in the condo were excellent. I love the wall mounted CD player, and used the iPad docking station also. We cooked a few meals while we were there, and everything I needed was available. It is well stocked with dishes, glasses, pots and pans. Annie was a big help during the planning stage (thanks!) and the staff at Playa Caribe was 1st class. We snorkeled in the bay (saw a few turtles and plenty of fish,) went up the street to the lagoon (spent an entire day there, with a break for lunch) and also went swimming in the surf at Tulum, maybe the most beautiful beach I've been too. We usually spend our vacations in different islands but we all felt that we will certainly return to this particular condo!

We decided to try PC for the pool, which isn't very common on Half Moon Bay. We were very pleased to have the pool as the ocean was lapping right up to the property. The unit itself far exceeded our expectations. Unit 5 provided two oceanfront bedrooms, a more than adequate living and kitchen space and excellent service by the staff on hand. We spent evenings on our lovely deck, listening to the ocean and enjoying the stars. Special notes: Housekeeping service was superb! Linens were lovely. Beds divine. Showers large although, as is typical in Akumal, hot water was spotty. We had everything we needed in the kitchen. Very safe, welcoming and property overall in beautiful and clean condition. Eager to get back!

What an amazing week!!!

Our stay at Playa Caribe #5 was absolutely perfect in every way. The location was great a 5 or 10 minute walk to the town of Akumal and great restaurants. Annie thought of everything and sent us so much local information before we arrived, not to mention the wonderful food basket as well. The condo itself was so beautifully done. It was recently remodeled with gorgeous tile colors and beautiful decorations. Very much a true Spanish vibe. The views were unbelievable. Had coffee and drinks on the balcony everyday as well as on the beach and at the pool. The staff was so accommodating and friendly. We met so many nice people while we were there. It was one of the most relaxing trips I think my husband and I have ever had. The snorkeling was amazing too. Very quiet and private area. We will definitely be back to Akumal and stay at John and Annie's place. It was so inviting and the kitchen was so well stocked with everything we needed and then some. I would highly recommend this property to couples and families alike. The rooms are very large and lots of closet space. We're already thinking about going back soon.

Great condo, but really bad seaweed problem now all along the coast...

I had stayed in this condo in 2014 and had a wonderful time, so decided to go back last week (3/2 - 3/9). The condo is located on the 2nd floor of the Playa Caribe building, is very nice, always clean, with great places to eat nearby. When we arrived on Saturday we were shocked to see (and smell) all of the seaweed that was rolling into the bay and piling up along the shore. I guess this is a relatively new problem, not just in Half Moon bay but all over. I feel bad having to write this review because Annie has always been great to work with, and since she owns this condo it will no doubt cause her some problems. The staff worked all day, each day, trying to keep up with it which was quite a job. We drove down to the beach at Tulum, which is one of our all time favorite places to swim in the beautiful blue surf, and they were having the same problem, so we turned around and came back. We did use the pool, and also went down the road to the lagoon to snorkel, which was excellent! Lots of fish and no seaweed there, but lots of groups of people being hauled in by van and buses. If you are looking for a relaxing time, eating good food, and don't care about the seaweed, it's a great condo. I would just suggest you check on conditions...

Playa Caribe #5 is fanatastic!

Playa Caribe #5 is a beautiful, well equipped and maintained accommodation on Half Moon Bay. We recently spent a week there and Annie is very easy to work with and has so much information to offer to make your stay in the Akumal area that much more enjoyable.The staff is very helpful and Agustin, the on site property manager, is tremendous. We had a great trip! We were able to snorkel everyday. We saw turtles, manta ray, sting ray, and many beautiful fish!The first 5 minutes we went out we saw a sting ray who spooked my daughter a little. The 2nd day the water was rough, so we went to Yal Ku lagoon which was a good place to get Delilah more comfortable in the water. We rented bikes right at Playa Caribe which was fun too! One day we went to Akumal bay and snorkeled. Lots of tourists and turtles! I'm glad they are trying to protect that area because it is crowded. We also went to Cenotes Rancho Santa Cruz...highly recommend! It was private, beautiful, and close to Playa Caribe. The rest of the days the ocean was much calmer and we snorkeled out front. A turtle built a nest right in front of the condo while we were there! Of course it was the one night I didn't wake up constantly to see if there were any turtles. A lady staying there saw it and of course took pictures with her flash....upsetting. We also saw a lady rip off one of those beautiful coral leafs! 😢 As far as local restaurants we liked La Buena Vida the best, as well as La Cueva de la Pescadora. Thanks for a great trip and information!

Don't Hesitate to Book This One--Even in Seaweed Season

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This unit, building and location exceeded all of our expectations. I want to address the seaweed concerns as we came in mid-May and were well warned about the potential for seagrass to impede our use of the beach. We almost went somewhere else!There was enough seaweed right at our beach at this unit that it wouldn't have been pleasant to swim from there or use the chairs. But this did not negatively effect our vacation at all. We walked 5 properties up for lunch at La Lunita and swam there and it was seaweed free and clear. You can swim from anywhere, the shoreline is public. We also walked to the lagoon and it was great swimming and snorkeling and seaweed free. We could also walk to Akumal Bay and zero seaweed there and great beach access. The on-site pool is also a great alternative. Don't let it ruin your vacation! This unit on the second floor offers beautiful turquoise water views and you don't even see the seaweed. We looked at booking the "seaweed free" complex but you can't use the beach there 's rock. The tile in the unit was so cute and charming, the sunken tubs are special. Kitchen well appointed. Plenty of extras to borrow or rent on site. Akumal was safe, beautiful and friendly. I will never stay at one of those all inclusives again!
