Beach view was stunning both day and night.St Leonardâs is so up and coming with fabulous restaurants and uniqueShops.Apartment was cosy and quite.Only negative was finding parking ,but once found we were able to walk everywhere.
Loads of communication from time of booking, was even able to check in early and check out late. Place is exactly as described in a great location and stunning views. Perfect spot for swimming, chilling, reading or walking around Hastings and St Leonards.
The flat is a nice place. Directly to the sea (2 Minutes from the Beach). My partner found the time there so beautiful that she left one of her healing stones in the apartment as a surprise and as a small lucky charm out of gratitude.
The weather was great er had a very good time.
The flat advertising is full of mis-descriptions. Worst Vrbo property Iâve stayed in. No parking associated with the flat despite being claimed. Owner pleads plenty of road parking. You canât park outside flat unless you pay exorbitant charges. There is a busy road out front (also not mentioned). I drove round for 20 mins looking for a parking space - goodness knows what itâs like in the Summer. It was up a steep hill and I was exhausted dragging my luggage back to the car when I left.
Flat is on 4th floor (discovered after I had booked and paid). The building is fairly run down. Small lift which I would not use, so I had to drag my luggage up 20 stairs for each floor - my problem.
No TV, microwave, or hair dryer. Flat is full of ownerâs possessions. Every cupboard and drawer is packed (I have photos). Every surface is full of items and plants. Nowhere to hang clothes or put your own items, except on the floor. Fridge had owners food, and freezer full. Kitchen cupboards full. Bathroom contained ownerâs personal products. I felt uncomfortable. Top oven stunk of fish - I left the burnt chip in the hinge. The oven door was disgusting. Baking trays were greasy. I ate out. Some cutlery had dried on food it. Coffee pot filthy. 24 plants in house (5 in bedroom) hence fruit flies. 35 plants on dirty balcony which is nothing like photos. Decorating is very poor. Thin rugs on bare boards. Stains and crumbs on table legs. I could go. Owner needs to wake up and smell the coffee!
We had a wonderful time. The flat is quirky and interesting. The terrace is amazing with fantastic views. There are lots of good restaurants and shops in st Leonard's too.
Neil is a great host who let us check out later and I would highly recommend his apartment.
This little flat is all you need for a peacful tranquil stay by the sea, close to a local shop and bus services, would recomend a stay here to anybody.
Really loved the flat- with all the interesting objects and decor and the comfy viewing platform. You have inspired me. Super comfortable bed too. Fantastic to be overlooking the sea and so convenient for all the attractions. Thank you
The apartment was quite quirky, even messy but in a pleasant way. It was spacious and comfortable enough for the two of us for the four nights we were there. It was in an excellent location with fantastic sea views from it's open balcony. We were lucky enough to watch an amazing thunder and lightning storm which spread right across the horizon on one of the nights we were there.
Easy level walk along the promenade into Hastings and a trip up the cliff railway to Hastings Castle, built by William the Conqueror, worth a visit. Bed very comfortable and plenty of cooking items and utensils are provided.
Only downside, and the reason I didn't give 5 stars, was food in the fridge and freezer left by previous guests. We certainly didn't want to use it as it's hygiene quality was unknown of course, so my suggestion is for all food to be cleared out at the end of each stay (except for condiments like salt, pepper, sugar and similar items).
Had a lovely few days away. A home from home. Comfortable and relaxing. It was very nice that small things were available to make the stay even better e.g. binoculars to enjoy the view from the balcony, a telescope to see the stars at night. The lift was a godsend after a busy day out! I would recommend this flat.
The details on Vrbo are misleading, advertised with parking and air conditioning. There was no parking with the flat, it was street parking. The air-conditioner didnât work and probably hasnât for some time. The description of shabby is accurate, I would not use the word chic. The whole flat is cluttered with ornaments and house plants, making many surfaces almost unusable. The kitchen area was cluttered leaving little work surface available to use when self-catering, one item on the worktop being a plastic watering can. There is virtually no kitchen cupboard space available for guests to use, full with the owners foodstuffs, there was food left in the fridge, including out of date milk and the salad crisper draws were grubby. There were bits of stale food under the front of the washing machine and cooker.
The air conditioning needs to be removed from the website entry, it is unserviceable. When we received the access instruction on 25 Jun , told not to use the ac.
The patio doors need maintenance. They are difficult to open and close. On a couple of occasions I was not sure I was going to be able to close and lock them. The access details attempted to describe how to close the doors these instructions didnât work. My wife was unable to open or close these doors. The difficulty with the patio doors was not highlighted until 25 Jun, less than 2 weeks prior to the stay.
The owner stated that parking in the roads behind the flat was â completely easy and a minutes walk from the flat. I paid for parking out front a couple of times, but when I was able to park in Magdalen Street, it was way up the top of the hill some 6 minutes walk, not 1 min. There was nothing available any closer. It is misleading to include parking in the summary details.
The saving grace was the balcony and the good luck to have excellent weather. Also access to nice restaurants with good service.
May not be everyone's cup of tea, but it is eclectic. Variety of interesting books to read, idiosyncratic decor, great balcony and seagulls as close neighbours. Loved it. It's a lot of stairs or a tiny lift!
One of the best apartments we ve stayed so far. Amazing views on the seaside. The sound of the waves, flowers and books everywhere in the house. All great.
The location is only at 15 min walking from the old town.
Quiet area. Highly recommend this place to everyone who wants to spend a lovely weekend in Hastings.
Giorgio
The flat contained all the owners personal possessions including his cloths in the wardrobes so we had no choice but to live out of our suitcases.
Parking near the flat was for the most part a nightmare and my wife's car was scraped twice
The view from the balcony was great though
We were not keen on the area as a whole although there was some worthwhile visits out of the town
Loved the flat. Beautiful decor and had everything we needed. The view from the balcony is stunning, no matter what the weather or time of day. Great base for exploring. Really relaxing stay, and Neil is the friendliest host you could hope for.
We stayed in Neilâs flat for 9 days and had such a fantastic time away from it all. It is in a brilliant location and the view is just spectacular - we loved spending evenings on the balcony, just looking at and listening to the sea. The flat is very comfortable and we will always return; not least because communication with Neil is always so civilised and pleasant. Another lovely stay!
I'm a writer, radio host and therapist (of sorts) and, somewhat obviously, I also rent my place out for visitors to the lovely and rather bohemian St Leonards and Hastings
It's a very relaxing, quiet and beautiful place to stay with a beautiful view of the ocean (in fact it's all you can see from the windows in the main room)
The view is the ocean. That's all. It's amazing to look out at the changing colours and tides each day. Btw, I've realised that my flat has something of a marmite appeal (oddly, though, only with Vrbo guests) - if you like something with a smidgeon of imagination and a little bit different then it's definitely for you, but if you are into a more typical set up with a large TV and microwave and all that stuff then it could still be for you but only if you're happy to enjoy something new
