Lovely property in a great central location to explore Tuscany. Villa was spacious, clean and cool. Slightly too dark but this kept it cool! Beautiful pool set in lovely well kept gardens with plenty of sun beds and parasols for everyone. Supermarket very close by but breakfast was optional and the bonus was the restaurant at the hotel which we did not know about which was fabulous for our first night when we turned up late and the supermarket was closed! Fabulous little 5 day break and we jumped on the local train which took us in to Florence in 40 mins for only 7 euros each with return times being as late as midnight! Mosquitoes were a problem though, but that canât be helped! Thank you for a fabulous stay!
Nice location but that is it. Horrible communication with the "owner" who never replied to my question about how we were to get the key to get in, had to find a paper tacked to the building which equated to a scavenger hunt of places to go to "check in" which were not on the property. Would have been nice to know about this before unloading the car. 10 light bulbs out in the property made for a very dark place to stay. One AC unit banged loudly all day and night and was never fixed even after we alerted the manager. Called the numbers given to find out how to check out the day before we left, since we had a very early flight and would not be around for the 8:30-!0:30 AM check out time, and none were working numbers. Then emailed the owner, a full 24 hours before we were leaving, since no phone numbers worked. NO REPLY. They only seemed concerned once I was gone and left multiple messages while I was on my 10 hour flight home to inform me of extra fees not disclosed when I booked and paid for the stay in advance. Cleaning people came and stayed each day while we were eating lunch, not concerned that we were there and needed to use the bathrooms or kitchen. I did not need them to mop the floor every day while I was there but would have appreciated a clean towel during our 6 day stay. Don't ask for an extra over your ONE allotted towel per person or you will pay an exorbitant fee per towel and another crazy per towel to wash those extra towels. Breakfast was also awful, and hardly what they described as a "lovely meal under the peach trees". If this had been my first VRBO experience I would not try it again. But luckily this was my second time using VRBO and the first time (elsewhere) was wonderful.
Besides several maintenance issues including our entry door being extremely difficult to lock, we were extremely disappointed by a pizza making experience we paid the manager to arrange for us. This property has a pizza oven so we asked if there was a chef who could come our last evening to teach our family of 4 how to make dough and cook pizza in the oven. They charged us $240 EU but what happened was bizarre and so unprofessional it ended our visit on a very sour note. Evidently the manager decided to take advantage of having the pizza chef on the property and sent an email to all guests that pizza was going to be served that evening. So while we were still learning to make pizzas guests started coming up and asking when they could get pizza. One family stayed watching us making our pizzas which our children were irritated at (as this was just supposed to be our family) but we were trying to be kind and explain to our children there are cultural differences; however, then the family jumped in and started making their own pizzas! You see, we had to walk down to tables set up to eat at and that is why we weren't able to intercede before they started. BTW, our 13 y/o daughter hadn't even gotten her pizza yet. So then I explained to the family that this was a private event we had paid a lot of money for and they said, "Oh we got an email from the manager that pizza was being served tonight." I asked them if it gave a certain time to wait til or said they should wait until we were done and they said 'no it didn't'. That was it, we went to our rooms as more guests had come to get their pizza now. I immediately sent an email to the manager and have yet to receive a response. An assistant manager checked us out later that evening (as we had let them know we had an early morning departure the next day for Rome) and we explained the dilemma to her with no apology or discount - very unprofessional. Basically, our family felt like we paid for a block party that evening with no communication ahead of time to explain what could have been a delightful evening with fellow guests. But not communicating with us or asking the guests to wait until a specific time caused our evening to be tarnished. The pizza we did have was outstanding but being taken advantage of by the owners ruined any positives of this property.
