Beautiful cottage, small but ideal for two. Lovely gardens. A bit of traffic noise because it's right above a bend on the main road to Frigiliana and, as others have mentioned, dogs barking through the night are off putting, but probably out with the owners control. Some information on the surrounding area, amenities etc. would be helpful.. The electric blanket, bathroom heater, air con heating and of course a great wood burning stove made this an excellent, cosy winter stay
Amazing property, such a lovely little cottage for two. Everything you could need was at hand
Views to die for and your own private terrace and plunge pool
To begin with, the check-in was flawless with a code to access the apartment and the keys available at the door so youâre not dependent on the host to be on time for an appointment. This was really convenient. The house is also really lovely and the kitchen also has all the accessories you can wish for. You have complete privacy by the poolside and itâs a great place to relax. Overall a great house, especially considering the price.
Third time staying, lovely house and well equipped. Bus to Nerja and Frigilliana very handy and reliable. Highly recommend but there are a lot of steps so not for anyone with limited mobility.
Charming place near Frigiliana with beautiful gardens
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this casita. It was a well-equipped one-bedroom place, perfect for a couple. The highlight for us was the beautiful garden, a lovely spot to relax and soak up the sun.
The location was also great. While situated on a main road so there was some traffic noise, it was manageable and didn't disrupt our sleep. The walk to the charming Old Town of Frigiliana was just 15 minutes, which we found convenient for exploring the area.
Overall, this casita provided a great base for exploring Frigiliana and the surrounding area. We would definitely consider staying here again.
We stayed in La Cuadra for one week, going the second week in January for some much needed rest and relaxation. The cottage was everything we thought it would be: comfortable, warm (with the wood burning stove) and well equipped. The English TV was a bonus. The local area was very nice with Frigiliana and it's great little eateries, at the top of the hill and Nerja five minutes by car down on the coast. We visited several other coastal resorts too, all very much enjoyed. Overall, an excellent stay and we very much hope to return in the future. Many thanks.
Tastefully furnished and well-equipped home in sublime surroundings. The air conditioner (bedroom) in combination with the burning stove (living room) kept us comfortably warm at night (January). The doubly-glazed windows helped a lot in this respect and also provided efficient noise insulation, so that traffic noise and barking dogs were in no way perceived as a problem indoors. The manager and gardener SebastiĂĄn were extremely helpful and kind, as always.
La Cuadra is a great little casita and we thoroughly enjoyed our three week holiday there. We particularly appreciated the total privacy and delightful garden, which we can confirm is not overlooked. The sun terrace is excellent and in July and August, the plunge pool, which is larger than it appears in the photos, must be a wonderful place to cool off.
We didnât have a hire car, but found that getting around on public transport was easy. The shops in Frigiliana provided everything we needed in terms of self catering and there were lots of locally grown vegetables on sale.
We ate out on a number of occasions and didnât have a bad meal in Frigiliana. There are plenty of places with good vegetarian and vegan options on their menus.
Many thanks for a great three week holiday at La Cuadra.
Glorious views, very charming house and garden, perfect spot for hiking Axarquia
Check in with a code for the gate and lockbox for the door key worked perfectly, which was great as we arrived late at night. It's a beautiful building and the interior is immediately appealing and unique, with original artworks. It's also very well laid out for lounging indoors and out, cooking and dining indoors and out. The kitchen is well equipped and has the world's best garlic press. The wood stove works well and so do all the appliances. The bed was too hard for us arthritic side sleepers - so a memory foam topper would have made it perfect. There's a fair amount of traffic noise from the main road, less of a problem at this time of year, and not noticeable indoors. We were mostly away early to go hiking and back after dark, but we had a few late morning breakfasts and afternoon beers on the sunny terrace and the traffic didn't bother us much. The house is perfectly situated for all the fabulous hikes in the nearby Sierra de Almijara and Tejeda or a stroll over to Frigiliana. Perfect holiday!
The property was very well presented and equipped with high quality furnishings and appliances. To our delight was the fact there was what English people likeâŠ..a teapot, egg cups and sink plugs! Such a pretty place to relax in both in the house and gardens. A slight downside was the intermittent barking of dogs at night but everything else makes up for that. It was easy to drive to different places and if you like some exercise, the walk up into Frigiliana will get your pulse rate up.
It was a bit disappointing in that we were told we would be met by the manager and were not. My text to her would not deliver and in fact we did not hear from her or see her during our stay. Hence the 3 stars for that.
We would certainly recommend a stay at La Cuadra.
Perfect place for rest and relaxation well equipped kitchen great plunge pool
Would benefit from local info guide eg beaches restaurants etc
Perfect place
Fabulous views, lovely Villa, very well equipped, Air con In the bedroom was a game changer
Superb location, spotlessly clean and well equipped villa, however the steps up to the villa were sometimes challenging depending on what time of the day it was and their was a dog that barked most of the night but keeping the windows in the bedroom closed helped minimise the noise.
Delightful garden and cottage with good quality furnishings and equipment. There is a cockerel and dog below, that likes to bark, just so you are aware!
A busy company director who stumbled upon La Molineta in 2008 and was immediately captivated by the area. Having rented La Cuadra for 5 years as a vacation stay, I was delighted when it came up for sale, and could finally call it our holiday home. With that decision was whether or not to rent it out, and I felt it deserved to be shared and for others to derive as much pleasure, inspiration and relaxation as I had whilst there.
It's the privacy and tranquility you simply can't get in Frigiliana or Nerja. The footprint of the house is one third of the garden space, and whilst the steps you climb passing the three properties to reach ours feels challenging at first, you soon appreciate that is where the steps stop and La Cuadra's private garden starts, and whist many have conveniently tiled and terraced their outdoor spaces, ours remains green, a rarity in the area. Simply put, uninterrupted, splendid isolation! (though clearly, I'm biased).
It's 300 years old, a rare example of authentic Andalusia, that made it from Donkey Stable to home. The provenance of Sir Peter Wakefield buying the entire ruined hamlet in the 1960's then spending the next 40 years creating a legacy carries with it a unique heritage and love for this hamlet that you can feel the moment you enter. The more you learn and experience, the more you love if you embrace it. I felt it when renting, and I feel it now more acutely as an owner, as I'm now entrusted to ensure our guests are afforded that same amazing experience.
