This was an excellent location and property for our 1 & 3 yo boys for a weekend getaway. Very close to all there is to do in Eastsound, and the rest of the island is accessible easily as well. The kitchen is very basically equipped, but had a high chair and packânâplay, which was all we really needed.
Host was very responsive to questions and requests. House is a short 2-3 block walk to everything in town and centrally located to hiking and other outdoor activities on the Island. Although there is a high chair, the space is better suited to 2-3 adults than to a family. If you want to cook meals, bring your own spices or youâll need to buy them at the lovely Island Market. We loved the Brown Bear Bakery, Village Green concert, and the ease of hopping on the inter island ferry to explore other islands.
We stayed with our 10-year old son here for a week while he attended a summer day camp. Our plan was to work from the cottage during the day and enjoy Eastsound and the rest of the Island during the evenings and weekends. Our worries coming in were whether the place would be big enough, and whether the internet service would support our meeting schedules. This place surpassed our expectations on both fronts. Moreover, it was extremely clean and had a great-sized kitchen that allowed us to mix in a few home-cooked meals with our visits to local restaurants. Also there's a nice big yard that we used for throwing a frisbee around. Would highly recommend for families!
Cottage is an easy walk to shops and restaurants. Setting is very charming with fruit trees and visiting deer. Cottage was spacious, very clean and beds comfortable. Hosts were very responsive to questions. I appreciated the availability of things like foil and plastic wrap in the kitchen. We also appreciated the availability of the gas grill that we used for a couple quick meals. Great place! Would stay again!
The house was located a quick walk from everywhere youâd want to go in Eastsound. Everything was clean and well-maintained. Weâd definitely stay here again!
Great location! Walking distance to the cute little shops and great local restaurants. Enjoyed the deer who came to snack on apples in the yard each evening. Very clean and nicely updated.
We enjoyed our time at the Wisteria Cottage! The cottage was very nicely decorated and quite convenient to Eastbound restaurants and businesses as well as the library, parks, and beaches. Our kids were enchanted by the daily visits by deer to the orchard. We enjoyed hikes around Mountain Lake and Turtleback Mountain and to the beaches and swimming in Lake Cascade. We cooked for most of our meals and found the kitchen in the cottage had just about everything we needed (though some olive oil and tea would have been much appreciated!) A perfect place for a small family to stay and enjoy all that Orcas has to offer!
Mr. and Mrs. Nelson were extremely accommodating to our little family during our stay at the Wisteria Cottage. First impression as you enter the front door is...charm. The home has been beautifully remodeled and freshened up, but maintained its authenticity you would expect in an older home. It was very clean when we arrived as well. The orchards on the property add to its beauty and frequency of furry neighbors (deer, rabbits). My children LOVED their little room and running around the expansive yard. Although it is off a main road, the traffic noise was minimal and the property's natural border distance from the road created some security for the children. It's a perfect place to stay if you're hoping to be central to all Eastsound has to offer visitors.
Especially for a first time visit to the San Juans and Orcas like for us, the location cannot be beat. Eastsound is the main village on the island for services, restaurants, etc - all easy strolls from the home. Convenient since public parking in town seems to be a daily challenge. Great launching pad for island hopping, sight seeing, etc. Cottage itself was very clean, highly functional and tastefully appointed. Works fine for any family of 3 or 4 who don't mind sharing a single bathroom. Owners were very responsive and friendly with every question and request. Would definitely rent again.
Our family of 2 adults, a teenager, and an adult child stayed at Wisteria Cottage for 4 nights and were happy we did. The cottage was darling and immaculately clean. I especially appreciated all the towels provided, including 4 beach towels. Beds had beautiful linens and were comfortable. Best part was being so close to Eastsound and the other walking paths near by. It felt quite private because of the beautiful plum trees and big open space. There is quite a bit of traffic noise during the day, but at night it was quiet enough. The school is on the neighboring property so you hear children playing in the morning and some school announcements being made....but we enjoyed that. It is a happy place. The kitchen is very well appointed and there are books and games in the living room. We would choose to stay here again.

Weâre lucky to wake up every day in such a beautiful place. It's a joy to see how much our guests love it here, too.
The Wisteria Cottage has a unique location; it is within easy walking distance of all the dining & activities of town, but it has a sense of space and elbow room. It's also a perfect jumping off point for exploring nature around the island!
