We loved our stay here. The location is wonderful within an easy walk to Balboa Park and a longer walk to downtown. Quit neighborhood with easy parking. The double suites were perfect for my friend and I. I highly recommend it.
Although our stay was short (only 2 nights), we absolutely loved the carriage house! Very convenient location close to the Zoo and many museums and places to eat. We would stay there again the next time we visit San Diego!
A wonderful & unique property in an ideal location. Comfortable, quiet, clean, and well-equipped. Easy walk to Balboa Park and many lovely bars & restaurants. The host was very accomodating. Basically, it was perfect.
The photos do not do justice to this incredible gem! You walk through an architectural gate into a delightful âsecret gardenâ ambiance patio. The bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, living areas are all exceptionally well appointed. Canât say enough good things about how communicative, Don, the owner has been. The album he has provided of things to do, restaurants in the area is extremely well thought out. My highest recommendation. Iâd tell my friends to stay here as well as I would rent again.
Elegant and conveniently placed to explore San Diego
The property has been recently restored and is an elegant apartment with two en suite bedrooms. It features a small courtyard and a pleasant living room with associated well equipped kitchen. The TV has premium channels too! The heating works well (we visited over New Year) and although we didnât get to meet Don, our host, he responded quickly and helpfully when contacted via the HomeAway app. If you are keen on walking, The apartment is close to San Diego Zoo and the park, the trendy Hillcrest District, and not too far to walk to the Gaslamp and Italian Quarter of downtown San Diego. Altogether, I highly recommend it!
The carriage house has been built at the back of a residential property. The property is located in a nice neighbourhood that is densifying with add-on suites and small professional offices. It is very centrally located but you do need a vehicle. We always found on-street parking available within a block or two. It takes a little while to learn about the area but there are good coffee shops and restaurants nearby as well as a Whole Foods grocery store.
The carriage house itself is very well constructed and beautifully decorated. There is also a suite upstairs but we werenât bothered by any noise. The beds were not firm and perhaps should be replaced. The kitchen was extremely well-equipped. Overall I highly recommend the property.
Very nice place. Great owner and conceirge staff. The pictures are exactly what you get with the unit. Great location - central to everything. The reviews here are very accurate. The only small issues I had were the place was alittle musty smelling on check in/had flies (likely just from opening the big doors to clean from the previous stay), the amenities (like dishwashing soap and garbage bags were a bit minimal), and you had to go outside to access the laundry machine. Not major issues. I would stay here again, and I really appreciated the owner as I had my VRBO unit cancelled 24 hours before our trip, and they took care of us to accomodate us on such short notice. A great, fair priced place in a great location in San Diego. Awesome food locations so close by. Highly recommended.
I love this property! It is the bottom unit of a carriage house and the old world decor is exactly my taste. The decorating details are amazing. I was there for 3 weeks. . .too much time to be out touring all the time. Relaxing in this unit was just delightful. In fact, I hardly needed to leave to be happy because this place is so homey and comfortable.
But leave I did because the neighborhood is sooo charming. I think of Bankers Hill as urban-light. One has the fun of little cafes and shops sprinkled around the area as well as Balboa Park, a real jewel with museums, theatre, a fun restaurant as well as many outdoor recreation activities, within an easy walk. And the Gaslamp District is 2 miles away, Hillcrest with all its funky, hip vibe and Landmark movie theatre less than that. Coronado is an easy 4 miles away. This location in an older, more historic part of San Diego simply couldn't be better (unless one is there strictly for a beach vacation).
Finally, Laura is wonderful. She is very responsive and eager to help. I will be returning again and again.
Overall we enjoyed our stay here. We had a few minor issues like a smoke detector that kept going off when no smoke was present and finding a parking space on the street near the unit, but the property was well maintained and very close to Balboa Park. There were some great restaurants within walking distance. Communication with the host was great, with quick responses when we had questions.
Property is very conveniently located to I5, 163. Just a few minutes to Coronado and Airport. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes, etc. Upscale decorated.
We absolutely loved the Carriage House. Quiet, private, and so charmingly appointed. Cute, walkable neighborhood, central to all to do in San Diego proper. This was everything I expect from a vacation stay, and more.
The check-in check-out experience was very accommodating. Wonderful location with easy access to so many things. There is an upstairs apartment and you can hear them,, but over all a great place!
We had a lovely time staying here. The beds were comfy and itâs a definite plus that each identical bedroom has itâs own private bathroom. That was ideal for our two separate couples. Plenty of space to relax in the living room after a day of sightseeing. It was a short drive to a variety of great restaurants. Checkin process was a breeze! This property had everything we needed and more!
