Spent a restful 2 weeks here in August. Good location in a quiet neighborhood steps from three mile harbor and a 15 minute drive to the East Hampton beaches. The house has an arty casual feel perfect for a beach vacation. We had a couple sticky nights with no ac, but the fans and crossbreaze did the trick.
A beautifully designed, lovely, rustic space. The perfect summer getaway. Baby deer feasting in the yard, falling asleep to the creatures around...a walk down to the bay, beautiful sunsets...and just minutes away from beaches and the town. Would highly recommend for those who want to feel like they are immersed in the outdoors. It has everything you need to slow down, unplug, and connect with loved ones and the natural world.
This is our second time staying at Robert's house and we once again found it a wonderful respite from our busy lives. The house is spacious and minimalist and the location near the bay is ideal.
We had a lovely time here. We are older so it was a bit difficult going up and down the stairs to the bathroom at night, but we loved the outdoor shower and although it wasnât posh, we had everything we needed. We cooked, we had guests, we walked to the beach. The weather was perfect. If it had been hot we couldnât have stayed.
Such an awesome space - loved the simplicity, a great beach house. Also - being so close to 3 mile harbor was fantastic - a great place to SUP! Thank you Robert.
Robertâs place is like nowhere else. We immediately felt at home. The wooden structure is a beauty. Everything is so convenient in there. We enjoyed showering outside among the trees, waking up with birds singing. We even had the visit of a fawn in the garden. Extraordinary bed!
This simple wooden beach house is minimalism at its best. A beautiful aesthetic. What you need and no more. Full of great design ideas. Beautiful longhouse cabin, surrounded by nature, near the end of a lane that ends in private access to the beach on 3 mile harbor. An outdoor shower+indoor tub; kitchen with first rate appliances (no microwave). No tv, great wifi and BBQ and lots of books and games. We look forward to returning. And my husband (who is particular about this) said it was one of the best beds he's slept in (the king bed in the loft).
Beautiful, unique architectural property in perfect location
Robert's home was such a unique, beautiful beach cottage, which is not surprising for an architect's own property. We loved how cozy it felt, the location (on a private road within a stone's throne from the harbor, where we watched the sunsets and the beautiful swans of Three Mile Harbor), and the design of the home. Our guests all marveled at how unique the design was. Robert was also extremely responsive and helpful. The outdoor shower is refreshing and perfect, and believe it or not we had to actually use the wood-burning stove for cold August nights, which means you won't miss the fact that there isn't AC (and on hot days, the cross breeze does the trick). We loved playing games on the big kitchen table; eating our dinners out on the breezy, big, open-air patio; having Aperol spritzes by the bay; and driving to the nearby farmer's markets, Pollock house, and variety of beaches. And all in such a design-forward setting -- a truly unique experience! P.S. Forgot to add - there are gems in Robert's book selection. In addition to a book about his own work, who can pass up the original Emily post?
We enjoyed our stay.
The house is lovely with a big yard and only steps from Three Mile Harbor with private access to the water.
Very close to farmers markets, Jackson Pollack's home and the village of East Hampton.
It was barely a 15 minute drive to the beach in Amagansett where we like to go.
While the house is terrific it is also a no frills beach house, with really only the bare essentials, no air conditioning, no TV, no indoor shower and minimal decor which was we were looking for but is not for everyone.
The only real critique we had was that a number of screens and screen door are in need of repair, otherwise we thought it was great.
This is a very special place. The house is wonderfully designed and perfectly comfortable, yet preserves the feeling of a beach / camp cottage. It feels very much like being outdoors â it is very open to the breeze, but also to rabbits, chipmunks, deer and the hilariously territorial swans on the harbor. It is in a very quiet spot in Springs, nestled between a private entrance to the Three Mile Harbor and a little farmers' market at the other end of the lane. We did all our swimming, sunset watching, cooking, and lounging about without as much as an incursion into the whole Hamptons scene. We'd love to come back, and sooner rather than later.
