Great location, great front porch with nice views, great value!
Cozy cottage is a great deal! We stayed for VT graduation. Reasonable price and great location plus a super cute house with a nice front porch. I will definitely stay again!
This was our 4th or 5th year staying at this property and it just continues to get better. It is the only place I stay in Blacksburg as it has everything you would ever need and feels just like home. The owner is great to work with and goes out of his way to make sure your trip will be perfect.
The cozy cottage is a true reflection of Blacksburg, cozy and inviting. We stayed here for the VT spring game and had no issues at all. Place is exactly as described. Plenty of room in the house and a great view of the mountains. Curtis, the owner, was professional and easy to work with. Look forward to staying here again.
We had such a great time starting at this cozy home! We rented this for my friend's med school graduation and it had everything we needed. The front porch and front yard were the best part, we spent a lot of time out there looking at the view! Owners were wonderful to work with and very responsive, we will definitely be back!
Our family found the cozy cottage to be a great place to stay while in Blacksburg. The front porch was a nice place to sit and drink coffee in the morning before starting the day. It had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. Curtis was very concerned about our comfort and called to check in on us while we were there. Overall, it was a very homey place to stay. We will be back!
Our family just got back from a weekend stay at the Cozy Cottage. We hope to go back again next year! The location was perfect...only 5 minutes into town. The house is bigger than it looks in the pictures. We really enjoyed having two separate livings rooms, since we had a 2 year old that was up early. Great house to stay at!
Great location! Just one mile from downtown which was so convenient for VT football games. Great place to stay for all VT sports. My husband actually walked back to the Cozy Cottage after a basketball game. We stayed 2 full months Sept -Nov and Curtis was readily available every step of the way for any of our questions.
We loved the porch sunset views and enjoyed reading out there catching the sunshine as well. Kitchen was fully stocked so we were able to have home cooked meals and all appliances worked well including the full size washer and dryer. There was every convenience like a place to hang your keys, flashlight by the bed, nightlights perfectly placed and so many supplies from kitchen items to cleaning supplies. Also we were so close to restaurants and everything Blacksburg has to offer but away from the Main St traffic on game days. We could not have picked a better location. I loved che hardwood floors in most of the house. We really enjoyed our stay at the Cozy Cottage.
The Cozy Cottage is an excellent choice for anyone visiting Blacksburg. It is a peaceful setting with lots of room to relax indoors and on the property. This was our second stay there celebrating two graduations from Virginia Tech. Perfect for family celebrations. The owners are so pleasant and respond very quickly to questions. They are prepared to meet any needs.
We spent three nights in this nice and cute cottage for my daughter's graduation. We hosted a small party there and it had everything we needed. When the weather is good, the view is gorgeous. We particularly like the comfortable beds, which gave everyone a sound sleep and full rest each night. The owner Curtis is very friendly and responsive. He always responded to my questions promptly with helpful information.
This was a fun alternative to a hotel for a football game!
We enjoyed staying at the Cozy Cottage- and one of the best things was the owner, Curtis. He was very responsive to questions prior to the rental and then made sure that we knew how everything worked when we got there. It was true southern hospitality! Sitting on the front porch with my coffee looking at the mountains was wonderful- this really did feel like a vacation rather than a rushed tailgate weekend. The home is cozy- make sure you look at all the pictures on the wall to see some of Blacksburg history! We enjoyed staying there a lot. Note the description is very accurate, so you are pleasantly aware of everything when you open the door!
We normally stay at the Cozy Cottage during football season, by my wife and I were able to come for a summer weekend getaway and we just had the BEST TIME! There are so many other activities to do around the area - we went kayaking on the New River (about a 20 min drive from Blacksburg) and fished for about 8 hours! There's also the Cascades which is has a trail leading to the waterfall. It was also nice to go around downtown Blacksburg when the restaurants and bars aren't so crowded when school starts. We recommend visiting Blacksburg during the off-season - it was a nice break from our busy lives! (Also, Carol Lee Donuts isn't too far from the Cozy Cottage - amazing donuts that we enjoyed on the front porch of the Cozy Cottage with coffee).
My husband and I stayed at the Cozy Cottage for 10 days in August with our two retrievers. The location and size of the cottage were great, and the owner was easy to contact and attentive. The property needs some repairs and deep cleaning. The family room flooded after a thunderstorm and the ceiling was damaged in a bedroom. The bathroom fan and some of the AC units weren't clean - dust and dirt accumulations. The kitchen range, cabinets and cookware need a thorough cleaning. We were glad to have the space for our dogs and appreciate the owner's waiver of a pet fee due to the flooding issue.
Worst vrbo stay I've ever had unfortunately. Arrived in evening to find things covered in dust and more, spent 2 hours cleaning before we felt comfortable staying, especially due to covid. Finally went to take showers only to find the hot water diverter was not working. Took lukewarm showers after owner came by to tighten what he could until he could get a plumber out. Couple days later plumber said can't fix so we were offered house next door. We declined to move again as didn't want to spend another day cleaning yet another property, but agreed to use of the shower there as no one else was staying and we need decent shower at least. Next day was getting ready to go out and had NO water...called owner he had someone go over and found the well pump had shut off. Next day came home and walked into flooding rec room, tried to determine source but could not and reported to owner immediately so he could get someone out to investigate source/fix leak. If you are reading this, confirm this home is in proper working order before booking. The owners are nice and live out of state but happened to be in town for a visit - they were unaware of the conditions and they did give a partial refund for our troubles. However, the party they have entrusted this place to is clearly not worthy of it. It is sad to see such a cute place go too ruin because of such neglect and it certainly should not be listed for rental unless and until all repairs are made and these issues are addressed.
Very cute cottage⊠interior could use some updating however it is as advertised, a budget accommodation. Great location, beautiful views! Beds very very comfortable. Everything needed was provided just wish there was a clean sponge for each new guest as jo dishwasher and the sponge smelled at bit. Otherwise great property for the price!
Home conveniently located close to Vtech. Comfortable and clean. Sitting on the porch watching the deer frolic across the street while having coffee was a big bonus! We enjoyed our stayx
Great location close to VT campus, necessities covered, borderline charming. Unfortunately, it took a while for the musty smell to dissipate. It was the first thing we experienced as we entered the cottage. We bought some scented candles to mask the odor. A heavy squall during our second night caused water to seep under the backdoor and into the rug refreshing odor. We made it work by spending most of our time on campus or outside the cottage. The cottage would benefit from a good purging. There were old publications, broken carts, dead house plants cluttering the living spaces. We loved the front porch but the cable strung between and locking the rocking chairs to the porch detracted from the charm. We expected a little more for the surge pricing caused by parent weekend but satisfied with our first stay in Blacksburg.
We purchased the old farm house so that we could update it and enjoy it while sharing in the care of elderly parents that lived next door. Curtis' Dad built the neighboring home place in which Curtis grew up and he played with the boys that lived in the Poff house. So while location was the main incentive to buy the house there was also a sentimental facet. In those care giving years, we generally came for a week but sometimes those weeks got extended. When we got the house livable we were able to give the parents the privacy of their own home and we had a short retreat. We never had the illusion of making a 'purse out of a sow's ear' as local folks might say but we wanted to blend the past with the present as we furnished and decorated the cottage from attics, consignment and yard sales, and thrift shops. We wanted the cottage to reflect its surroundings and the people of the area. We selected photographs and paintings that featured Virginia artists and scenes that could be seen only a short drive from the house. Occasionally a Kentucky picture or book may show up in the cottage, something that we bring from our Old Kentucky Home. But as a Blacksburg native and a Hokie, Curtis still has much loyalty to his Old Virginia Home.
The Cozy Cottage stands out because of its simplicity. There are some unique antiques and some plain old used furniture. But there is a blending of old and new; for example, the master bedstead is antique metal ( as is the rare find metal dresser) but it has an up-to-date memory foam mattress. The property used to be out in the country but now it is less than a 1/4 mile from Blacksburg's City limits. In minutes you can be in town or back out in the mountains. It is almost like having a mountain chalet with pizza delivery service. And no one has ever complained about not finding a place to park.
In addition to convient location the Cozy Cottage has cable TV, WiFi, a washer and dryer, an almost completely furnished kitchen ( no dish washer). Many guests have called it their home away from home. It is not fancy but it is homey!
