Small, low cost place with a nice view and sufficient amenities for two people. I am rating it well based on the value, since it met our needs and we were happy and comfortable for almost two months. It is in a nice quiet and fairly private location across the canal. The host was east to communicate with, and fixed small problems quickly. I'll mention the troubles we had, since these weren't dealbreakers for us, but maybe they are for you. The rowboat is functional, but if it's rainy it means you're bailing out a boat (a lot) EVERY time you need to go to town. It's a very short paddle across a pretty and calm canal, if you're spry. We were able to get tour companies to pick us up at our dock, which was really nice. The shower has hot water but the sink and kitchen don't, which makes washing dishes a bit more of a boiling chore. (I hope the host considers extending the hot water to fix this. Be sure to look for an updated review.) Washing machine is not automatic and you need to hang things to dry. The kitchen is small but functional, with a "dorm sized" fridge/freezer and sufficient cooking supplies. The construction is quaint, and rustic, so sand flies and the occasional mosquito need the bug repellent sometimes. Mostly not, but sometimes. The windows are (locally typical) slats and don't seal fully. Bed could use an upgrade! Mangrove swamp can get stinky some days. Saw LOTS of birds and lizards and a manatee. Overall good, IF it's what you're looking for (cheap!).
