Local services and grocery options are limited inside Lakewood — larger shopping, dining and medical services are in neighboring towns such as Honesdale, Hawley and Scranton.

The area is largely car-dependent; most guests will need a car or rideshare. Roads are local two‑lane and often narrow; winter weather can affect travel times. Limited regional bus services operate from nearby towns; there is no frequent local rail or rapid transit. Walking and bicycling are pleasant within the immediate neighborhood for short trips, but not practical for reaching major services.
