We had a very relaxing trip. The only down fall was that we could not cook out on the grill. There was a birds nest in the grill and the weather was raining. It was a great to see all the wildlife right from the house and having games to play made my kids day.
My husband and I spent a long weekend here to get some fresh air and quiet time and it hit spot! The cabin was clean and cozy, we had excellent bird and deer watching out the windows, and the access to the trail made for a great long walk to Union Dale. Property was exactly as expected and the owners were responsive and helpful. Would stay again!
this is the 2nd time staying at this comfy & cozy little cabin. Everything that we needed was there including a quick drive to Elk mountain. Plenty of firewood and thick blanket covers for those frozen nights.
Family and friends Elk Mountain getaway. Cabin is very nicely situated on the large property. Cabin was very cozy and warm. The wood stove is a great touch. Kitchen was well stocked with cook and dinner ware. Everything met our needs and was to our liking. We would definitely recommend this property.
Iâve stayed at many places. Let me tell you this is at the top of the list. The house is beautiful, clean (top to bottom) and the location and views are breathtaking. The house has everything you need on site and in kitchen etc. We absolutely loved the place and my teenage boys are already asking when weâre going back Again overall an amazing place and weâll definitely be booking again !!!
This property truly has everything you need and more! From the moment we arrived, we felt right at home. The house was clean, cozy, and well-equipped with all the essentials. The fireplace was such a great charmâit added warmth and character to our evenings, making it the perfect spot to relax after a day of skiing. The check-in process was smooth, and the property manager was friendly and responsive. The online listing was accurate, but the actual experience far surpassed our expectations. The location is idealâpeaceful and private, yet close to Elk Mountain Ski Resort and other attractions. Whether we were enjoying the stunning views outside or the cozy ambiance inside, every detail made our stay unforgettable. We highly recommend this property and canât wait to return for another perfect getaway!
Comfortable, clean cabin overlooking nice yard on 20 acres. We were looking for a quiet place near a bike trail that had room for us to wander with our dog off leash. The home is well-maintained, clean and very quiet. We stayed in the fall and used the home as a base explore the area. It is a rural, quiet area with limited shopping, restaurants, etc. Beautiful roads and trails to use for viewing fall foliage. There is an excellent grocery store within 10 mi drive. It is a terrific spot for anyone interested in biking the D & H Trail. We had a very nice stay, and would recommend the property to others.
This cabin was just what we were looking for! Beautiful views, lots and LOTS of space to run around, easy access to trails and so peaceful. We took the advice of the guide and visited Chetâs Place for dinner and visited the nearby lake. Both were great. My family and I had the most wonderful time and would love to return! 10/10 - would recommend!
We came for a family vacation to go skiing at Elk Mountain. The location to the mountain, only 10 mins by car, was perfect for us. When not skiing it was great to have easy access to the D&H trail with our dog. We took advantage of the wood stove and had plenty of extra wood from the garage.
My husband and two adult children stayed for Thanksgiving week. Cooked a full Thanksgiving meal in the well equipped kitchen. Enjoyed watching movies, playing games and the beautiful views.
This cabin was perfect and exactly what was pictured and described. The only negative was that there were no good frying pans. Great time with my adult children
This was my familyâs second stay here and weâve been happy each time. You canât beat the cabin vibes with the great wood burning stove and the all wood interior. About 10 minutes from Elk. Restaurants in the area are decent, but donât expect fancy. Youâre in the mountains.
Jia is incredibly responsive and a great host. Weâre looking forward to next year already!
Nice place to stay very close to Elk Mountain. There are some decent bar/restaurants within 10-15 minute drives. Locals were super friendly. The house is well stocked with necessities, especially the kitchen. After a long day on the mountain, the warm fire will have you sound asleep in no time. The driveway and entryways can get pretty muddy during the day when the ground thaws a bit. Itâs to be expected for a mountain house but donât want anyone pulling in and messing up their fancy shoes. Host were very responsive by chat. We would definitely stay again.
The cabin was clean and cozy. The woodstove heats the entire house and there is plenty of wood in the garage. Unfortunately, there was no snow on the ground. The hike out the back of the property found the D and H trail as we had thought about bringing our snowmobiles to the area. Glad we didn't. Although getting from the cabin to the D and H trail would have proved a task as numerous trees blocked the path. Probably would have used the roadway. We enjoyed the fire pit and the closeness to Elk Mountain. A seven-minute ride and during the week, no crowds. We took my 3 year old grandson on his first ski trail and he loved it. That made it all worth it. Highly recommend for a small family (we were 4 adults, 2 small children).
Might I say we completely enjoyed our stay. However, the house was advertised as being air conditioned. Only the upstairs bedrooms were air conditioned. It was miserable down stairs in July heat. The property is billed as being on twenty one acres which makes on think it might be tucked back from the road. That was not the case. The deck is not suitable for young children and really needs to be replaced asap as the railing is loose and the steps are crumbling. All that being said, the house was amazing. The stars were incredible and the house was very well stocked. I know the new owners have not had the property for too long so I am sure they are working on renovations. We would absolutely stay here again with or without renovations. I just want future visitors to be aware of our concerns.
My family and I stayed at Jia's cabin oner the 4th of July weekend and loved every minute of it! The cabin is nicely decorated and cozy. Check in was smooth and the cabin was very clean. One thing to keep in mind if you are traveling with anyone with knee issues or elderly, is that the stair case is very steep to get to the 2 upstairs bedrooms. My 73 year old mother-in-law didn't have any issues, but I worried each time she went up/down. The property is serene, only wished the walking trails were mowed but the natural setting was very peaceful. Bring your own camp chairs if you want to enjoy using the fire ring, which I highly recommend as a wonderful, relaxing way to end the night. As a bonus, the owner provides lots of fire wood! A well stocked convenience store is only 10 min away. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of linens and towels. There are window units to cool off the 2nd floor bedrooms, but unfortunately no A/C downstairs which made thing a little too warm for the 'master' bedroom. We weren't able to located a trash bin to use in the kitchen, which was a little odd, but not a major inconvenience. The host was absolutely a pleasure to work with and went out of their way to help us when we lost our drone in the front field. Thank you again Jia for trying to help!!! My family and I would definitely stay here again for another mountain getaway!
Jia (husband) and Li (wife) live in Florida for almost 30 years. Jia moved to Switzerland in the 80s to pursue his PhD in Lausanne. We lived in Switzerland for (6) years, during that time we were able to travel a lot by train through western Europe. After a brief time in Singapore we moved to Florida, where we currently live.
We love this property because of the rustic and cozy feel along with the beautiful mountain view. Itâs the country getaway that we were looking for. We hope you'll enjoy this piece of paradise as much as we have
This property is very convenient to go to all local amenities. It provides a marvelous mountain view from the deck. All different activities are very close and accessible from the property, such as ski, hiking, snow mobile, sled, golf, fishing, boating, hunting, wild animal watching, or just sitting lazily in front of the wood burner during the winter or outside fire pit during the summer.
