This property has a lot of potential to be fantastic, but it's definitely not there yet.
Positives:
- The location is excellent for visiting Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks, about 15–20 minutes from the entrance (though be prepared for a very winding mountain road).
- It feels peaceful and remote, is pet-friendly, and has an outdoor space with a picnic table. A BBQ and a couple of comfortable patio chairs would make it much more enjoyable.
- It's right next door to the restaurant and bar, which has great burgers and sandwiches. The staff there helps manage the place, and they are super friendly and helpful.
- The separate bedroom and dining area are very nice to have, and it's spacious.
Not so great:
- The condition of the cabin. Several windows have broken or missing glass, and none of them properly lock or have screens. It's hard to feel safe especially being in such a remote area -a bear had come through just the night before we got there. The carpet is old and dirty, and the bathroom had a very strong sewage odor.
For this price, I would expect better lighting, higher-quality bedding and towels, a functional pull-out couch, and basic amenities like satellite TV. The condition of the cabin made it difficult to feel comfortable and made the nightly rate hard to justify.Pictures of the area would help in finding the place too, it was a bit confusing because the email I got from the owner indicated it was not close to the restaurant, but it's right next to it.
