Set right on the rippling, crystal clear waters of Donner Lake and boasting 180-degree panoramic views of the mountains to the south, this wonderful, two-story vacation rental offers an extremely comfortable and serene location for the perfect family vacation! Enjoy plentiful sunshine throughout the year both inside and out while you prepare your favorite recipes in the well-equipped, full kitchen with stainless steel appliances including a five-burner gas range. Dine together indoors at the breakfast bar, at the cozy kitchen table, or al fresco out on the deck complete with a gas grill for summertime cookouts. And in the evenings, settle into the inviting living area warmed by a wood-burning stove and stream your favorite shows and movies on the flatscreen TV. Back outside, discover 50-feet of easy access, a private waterfront as well as a dock and buoy for swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, and of course boating and trout fishing.Fireplace will be out of service as long as this message is on the listing. There is alternative heat in the home.



For your convenience, there is a market directly across the street for essentials as well as Donner Lake Kitchen, one of Truckee's most popular breakfast restaurants. Guests will also find community tennis and basketball courts at West End Beach, a 10-acre recreational park, just a little over two miles west.

As usual, this is our happy place in the mountains. We had a lovely time and its convenience to sugar bowl, 10 mins, and truckee main drag, 8 mins, but quiet peaceful location on the lake was ideal. We’d move in if we could :). My son, age 6, has the best time even in winter rock hunting on the beach and we both enjoyed bird watching right from the dining table in morning and afternoon!

Wonderful property

This house is definitely one we will come back to. We had such a great time paddle boarding, fishing, and swimming in the lake. It was a perfect escape from reality for a few days.

Perfect lake house

This house was exactly what we were looking for when planning our summer vacation. Plenty of room for family activities, clean rooms, and lake front access. We had an amazing time on the dock and watching the sunset from the balcony or kitchen table. We will definitely be back.

Short stay at Donner Lake, east

We have in the past stayed in the western portion of the lake and found that this stay provided more vistas without having to drive anywhere.

We celebrated a special day. Beautiful setting, beautiful home, access to paddle board and kayaks perfect. Well appointed and comfortable. Convenience store very close for forgetten syrup.

Beautiful home in a perfect location. Loved the view of Donner Lake, and really enjoyed the train traveling the mountains across the way. High-end outdoor furniture made it extra special. Our DOG rates it 5-stars, also!!

Great Cabin

We enjoyed our stay. There was a storm the last night and power was out but we used the fire place to keep warm. Beautiful views from the living room and bedrooms. We will definitely be coming back this summer to do some fishing.

Really was Perfection!

This was by far my favorite vacation rental. The location was perfect, the house was beautiful and so comfortable; and the backyard dock and steps into the water were incredible. I brought my fishing boat which was held nicely by the provided buoy. Caught a bunch of tasty trout and salmon. My yellow lab loved swimming and going up the steps at the water's edge. This was a dream of a house. Would love to stay again!

Amazing place to enjoy the lake

Wow! Just wow! Amazing house, patio, deck. Beautiful perfection. Only thing that needs looking at is the stove, it didn’t get up to temp on the standard oven, but we just used the broiler instead.

Great Lake Views and Perfect Family Vacation Home

Plenty of space for our adult children and their plus ones (total of 6) and a dog. Great views of the lake from most rooms of the house and deck. The lower landing has very comfortable seating and is the perfect place to hang out to take in the lake view. Having our own dock to come and go as we please on our kayaks and paddle boards was great. The kitchen had everything you could need and bathrooms were stocked with plenty of soaps/tp/shampoo and body wash. Very clean and comfortable! Love that it is across the street from Donner Lake Kitchen, the best breakfast spot! Cannot wait to return!

Unforgettable house and vacation

We had an absolutely wonderful time at this beautiful property. The house is absolutely stunning with amazing views of the lake from nearly every room, and the house was stocked with all the essentials (including firewood for the fireplace!). It was magical to be able to jump off the dock into the crystal clear water of Donner Lake. The property is directly across from a mini market, should you forget any essentials. The next door neighbors were lovely as well! We will definitely be returning to this house to make more memories. Thank you so much!!

Lakeside Treasure

Perfect lakeside property. Family of 5 fit perfectly with room to spare. Personal beach and pier for the kids and dogs to play. Would love to come back. Opted for the late checkout, but the front door code stopped working at the regular checkout time and we were locked out with our dogs still inside when we came back from lunch. Luckily we had accidentally left the back door unlocked so we were able to get back in.

View trumps all

It was fantastic location and view. The home is absolutely gorgeous and clean. The only thing I could complain about is …the beds were so uncomfortable, hard and small …for the price you’re paying I’d say it’s not too much to ask for a comfortable bed. It’s also hard to enjoy your day when you’re not sleeping well. Other than that it was great!

Great experience!

What a fabulous property! It was amazing and the renovation looks great. Very comfortable and great for our group. My only concern was I didn’t know where the trash can was (outdoors - inside trash can was obvious) so I just left the bags of garbage in the garage. I felt bad leaving a mess but I tried! Haha I would recommend to anyone who wants to stay at a beautiful location.

Return Stay - even better than the 1st

My son and I have so enjoyed our two stays at this lovely home right on Donner Lake. There are views from almost every room and window in the house. There is a big outdoor area including a beach which even in late spring was beautiful to enjoy rock collecting and fishing from the shore. It's just 8 minutes to downtown Truckee for restaurants and shops and the train station. 10 minutes to Sugar Bowl, 10 minutes to Tahoe Donner Downhill, 5 minutes to Safeway. I would have loved access to a vacuum while there and some snow play toys like a tube or sled but all in all this house is a gem.

Lovely cozy peaceful spot on the lake

We keep returning to this home because it feels like a home away from home for us. It's across the street from the little market and Donner Lake Kitchen which is great for brekafast/lunches. The home is directly on the Lake with beach/sand areas and we enjoy rock hunting even in winter. The house has a nice wood burning fireplace but would appreciate if there was more wood/kindling pieces vs the broken wood slats. Also need paper or newspaper to help light since no kindling and could use long matches vs. lighters. There was some hair, human or dog not sure on the master bed sheets/pillows so a more thorough cleaning would be great but when we contacted management about it we got an instant response which was helpful.

Fantastic lakefront home

My son and I had the most relaxing time at this home that is right on the lake. It was very cozy with the fireplace and big breakfast nook table/window seat/lovely kitchen/big outdoor space with lawn/beach sand area/terraced yard/and the comfy bedrooms upstairs. There was some hair here and there on some furniture and the floors, but I'm not sure if it was humans or dog. We did bring our own small dog on the vacation, thank you dog-friendly rental, but the hair was longer, so I'm guessing from a pup before us. But that aside, I've already re-booked this home for a future trip because we loved it so much. Also a big highlight to be directly across the street from the famous/delicious Donner Lake Kitchen and the little grocery/general goods store. Just 8 minutes to downtown Truckee, 5 minutes to Safeway for bigger grocery run (yes instacart worked there too!), 11 minutes to Sugar Bowl Sugar Rush Tubing, and 10 minutes to Tahoe Donner downhill. Great spot all in all!

Donner Lake is Pristine

Beautiful location with a lovely setting on the lake with dock access. Sand area for children was a plus! Near a market across the trip was great. Master bed was too firm. Not enough towels for a group of 8. The towels were new, with tags still on them. Therefore lint was a problem until we washed them. Bathroom floors were not cleaned. It would have been nice to have umbrellas to protect from the sun on the deck and by the lake area. Also, perhaps a few beach and lake toys would be nice. But not necessary as we brought blowup paddle boards and a raft. Furniture on the lake was in great condition.
