Beat President week crowds in this luxurious 3 bdrm Presidential condo at Smuggs

The period before Presidents' Day weekend is the best time in February to avoid the heaviest crowds. The resort's lift lines are often shorter than at other resorts and certainly much shorter during the crowded Presidents week. This 3 bedroom Presidential condo is in the North Hill Community of Smugglers Notch. Presidential condos are part of the luxury tier of Wyndham condos.

Smugglers' Notch typically sees an average of 66 inches of snowfall in February over about 16 snowfall days, making it the snowiest month on average. The cold temperatures during this month are ideal for preserving snow. In my experience with two weeklong trips a year, an inch or two "lake effect snow" sourced from Lake Champlain is dumped on Smuggs as it tries to rise over Mt. Mansfield. The result is often an inch or two of fresh groomed powder and lovely light snow as you move around the resort.

This excellent three-bedroom retreat features a king bed, a queen bed, and a twin bed, plus a cozy living room with an additional queen bed. Guests enjoy two bathrooms, one with a jetted bathtub for relaxing after a day of adventure. The space stays comfortable year-round with heating and AC. You can use this unit as a base for touring the famous Vermont breweries which specialize in IPAs. Within a half-hour ride are Ten Bends, Lost Nation, and Rock Art. Or take the free Village Shuttle to Lot Six Brewing, right outside the main gate.

The North Hill Community features the most spectacular, southerly mountain views at Smugglers’, including those of Madonna Mountain, Sterling Mountain, and historic Smugglers’ Notch Pass. This location combines the serenity of a woodland hillside setting with several multi-story vacation home buildings nestled in the landscape, including one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom condominiums. This community features the exclusive use of North Hill Central, an aquatics and exercise facility with an indoor heated pool, Splash Grounds Water Playground, and hot tub.

Take a day trip to Burlington for many fabulous restaurants, shopping on the pedestrian mall on Church Street and more breweries. My favorite is Foam Brewing on the Lake Champlain Waterfront.

The quaint village of Jeffersonville is less than 10 minutes away, with several more restuarants and pubs, a gluten free brewery and Smugglers Notch Distillers, makers of top notch vodka, gins and whiskey, with a tasting room.

All North Hill homes at Smugglers’ Notch Resort are maintained to the highest standards, ensuring a “like new” condition. These fully-equipped condominiums offer all the conveniences of home, including high-speed internet, voicemail, linens, washer and dryer, paper products, and a complete kitchen with cookware, dishware, microwave, and dishwasher. Each home features a spacious living room with a gas fireplace, dining area, outdoor balcony, and TVs with DVD players. Depending on the size, these homes have one to four full baths.

You can basically ditch your car for the weekend. There is a shuttle system that circles the vast property. You just dial the extension and tell them where you are and they will come and grab you. There is a rack on the back for skis so you can zip right down to the mountain.

Smugglers’ Notch has an authentic ski village. A winding well-manicured path leads you around to different shops and pubs.
