The cottage is in a quiet location in walking distance of places of interest. It has an imaginative use of space and interesting touches. The bed was very comfortable with good bedlinen.
We found it a bit small and rather cold when we arrived. The heating did improve matters eventually but we were pleased to be only there for two nights. The dogs next door were very noisy, fortunately not at night!
There is no outdoor space except for the driveway.
Compared with other accommodations we have used on this trip, we feel this was rather overpriced. This made the situation more of a disappointment!
Some points to note: We got a message from Stayz saying check in was at 3. Then after we messaged the host, who said it was 12 noon. A difference. Then when we got there and started cooking, or trying to, the gass stove wouldn't turn on and there was no hot water. We messaged the host, who replied within 5 min, that we might need to "change the cylinger over". We've never had gass before and it was dark and raining. Mmmm There were two cylinters and after trying a few dials we got it to work. But really ...... I felt like giving up. Other small points, the light over the stove didn't work and there was a small leak from the loo (on the side of the shower, you noticed it most in the moring. No smell, might just be water. But these are very small points, I mention them as it was an expensive rental. Otherwise it is very very nice and as described. hj
First I arrived and the cottage door required a code to get in which was not provided in the email sent welcoming me. The owner called me after waiting an half an hour with the code. Secondly an animal (opossum) woke me up the first night. On the second day in one areas of the cottage there was a bad smell. During the evening the smell got worst. At 2:30 am the animal woke me up borrowing into the cottage. In addition the smell in the cottage was so bad I was coughing and had to open the windows to air the cottage out(-1 degree that night). That morning I packed up and left the property. I message the owner concerning the issues but she has never responded.
This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had and I was very, very disappointed with the whole situation.
Had trouble with lock as you could not see the numbers especially when sun was on it we left the door unlocked as it was freezing and didnât want to get locked out if you did there is no contact no to ring you round be sleeping in the car
Stayed 5 nights at the Baker's Cottage and had a great stay. Bed was super comfortable and allowed for a great night's rest.
Just a 10 minute walk in to town (at a slow pace).
Room has everything you need for your stay, just bring your groceries if you want to cook at home, but there are many, many eating options for breakfast, lunch or dinner in town.
Beware that there is no roof on the bathroom, so, err, whatever you do there is heard in the rest of the place!
Highly recommended
We had a lovely stay at Bakers cottage. Itâs perfectly set up for guests, with lovely furnishings and little touches that make the stay extra special. Location is perfect with only a short walk to restaurants/bars and Armidale is a beautiful country town that is well worth a visit. Would highly recommend, thank you!
A cosy cottage not far from the cafes and pubs of Armidale. I had my dog with me and he loved the fire at night. He also liked the dog friendly gin tasting at Dobsonâs distillery and wine tasting at Petersonâs. We will certainly be back!
Loved rocking up here after a long wet drive. Welcoming, bread divine (sought out the bakery it came from for breakfast next day), bed oh-so-comfortable. Great start to our within-border road trip. Thanks Kate.
We found the Baker's Cottage very comfortable, very clean and in a good location. Everything we needed was provided with good inclusions.Kate even provided a comprehensive listing of eating places which we found very helpful. The location, in the centre of the Heritage walk, is beautiful. The old houses, their gardens and amazing old trees were a joy to behold. The walking was relatively level which was ideal for our 12 1/2 year old dog and its 78 year old owner. The commercial centre is only a few minutes away. An added bonus was the huge oak tree covering the driveway which provided shelter for our car in the hailstorm we experienced. A very enjoyable stay.
This gorgeous little building is a real pleasure to stay in-Kate is very kind and has thought of so many lovely little touches-above and beyond what you would expect! Thank you
We had a wonderful 2 days in Armidale. The Cottage is well set out with a cosy fire. The CBD is only a short walk away with lots of different cuisines available.
Was difficult to find the property as the number was hidden, would be good to have the number up on the wall. There were electrostatic sparks off the fireplace and a heavy glove would have been appropriate to have as the handle was very hot. It was very cosy and the bed was super comfortable.
