Doris Studio | Saumarez Homestead
DORIS STUDIO | SAUMAREZ HOMESTEAD
Doris Cabin is a light-filled, thoughtfully designed eco-tourism studio located within the historic Saumarez Homestead estate on Anaiwan Country, just outside of Armidale. Named after Doris White, one of five daughters of the White family of Saumarez Homestead, the studio offers a contemporary rural retreat in a beautiful pastoral setting.
Designed as an intimate and serene space, the studio balances modern comfort with a relaxed country aesthetic. Bathed in soft natural light, the interiors elegantly nod to the quiet charm of Doris White, a much-loved local children’s nurse, with soft colours and delicate floral detailing.
The open-plan layout includes a well-appointed kitchenette with microwave, bar fridge and Nespresso coffee machine, a comfortable lounge area, and a queen-sized bed. The ensuite bathroom features a walk-in rain shower, vanity and toilet, while reverse-cycle air conditioning ensures year-round comfort.
Large sliding doors open onto a private, undercover deck with seating for two. It’s an ideal spot to enjoy a morning coffee or unwind in the evening, overlooking rolling paddocks where cattle graze peacefully under the expansive New England skies.
Perfect for couples or solo travellers, Doris Studio offers a peaceful and private stay within a National Trust estate - where a stunning rural landscape, heritage, and contemporary country living come together in quiet harmony.
