THE ASTER ON QUEEN ANNE
They donât make âem like they used to! Pamper yourself in historic Seattle charm. Conveniently located on the top of Queen Anne hill, five minutes from the Space Needle and a one block walk to the Avenue. The Aster on Queen Anne is your preferred home base in Seattle.
Two grand brick pillars greet you as you walk up to the property and pass through the gate into this peaceful urban retreat. Take a moment to relax on the oversized covered front porch and gaze out beyond the manicured garden, as an occasional family pushing a stroller walks by, along the tree-lined sidewalk.
You enter the massive grand room with 10â ceilings, a beautiful fireplace, framed in art tile, a commanding mantel and custom woodwork. Take in the space, almost large enough to be a ballroom, with a majestic staircase beckoning you to further explore.
But first, make your way across the hardwood floors to the two craftsman pillars that frame the entrance to the spacious dining room, complete with gorgeous antique stained glass above a built-in hand-crafted sideboard, perfect for preparing a spread for your family and friends. Sun streams in through the huge southern bay windows and reflects off the boxed beam ceilings. Hidden behind the doors of the sideboard is a bountiful collection of glasses, plates and additional serving ware for your convenience.
Turning to the right, you enter the freshly renovated modern kitchen with gas cooking and stainless-steel appliances. Note the round wooden blocks in the floor for activating the secret pocket door. A cozy eating nook is perfect for an intimate late-night snack or breakfast with just your partner or kids.
Turn again to the right and exit the kitchen, first passing the servantsâ staircase and a doorway leading to the powder room and lower-level laundry room. Then return to the grand room. To your left, is a spacious yet cozy parlor, with new 55â Roku television, ready for you to log in to your Netflix, Prime, or gaming accounts. A comfortable sectional is ready for you to recline and catch your favorite movie or show. If it gets too late, just fall asleep right there with your partner on the double pull-out. Ready to unplug for some family connection? Switch off the screens and choose one of the many board games or puzzles tucked away in the TV cabinet.
When youâre ready to head up to the second floor, gaze up at the antique light fixtures built into the craftsman architecture between the parlor and grand staircase. As you head up the stairs, note the artwork hung in the 18-foot-tall space above.
At the top of the stairs, you will find a large landing with a built-in craftsman cupboard and drawers, stocked with fresh soft towels and extra linens.
On the second floor, you will find four oversized bedrooms and an exquisitely renovated hand-tiled bathroom. The two master bedrooms are extremely spacious.
The Floral Room is furnished with two new full-sized beds and a private TV. Facing east, this room is drenched in morning sunshine. Across the hallway, the Tuscan Room, featuring a luxurious new king-sized bed and private seating area, is perfect when the two of you want to step away from the rest of your clan. The Sun Room features another full-sized bed and six large west-facing windows, providing loads of afternoon sunshine and views of the Olympic mountains, peaking above Seattleâs rooftops. Facing south, the Pink Room beckons you to relax in the all-day sunshine and new Queen-sized bed. These four bedrooms are served by a spectacular renovated bathroom, complete with walk-in wet shower and bathing area, finished with lovely tile work.
When you head back down to the kitchen, try taking the servantsâ stairs. Imagine maids, 100 years ago, carrying trays of tea and crumpets to their employers. Once there, head through the coat room to the back porch. Perfectly equipped for lunch or coffee with friends, enjoy watching your kids play in the fully fenced grassy yard, featuring a cute as a button playhouse. Sometimes (rarely) you might be greeted by our friendly neighbors passing through the backyard on their way to the carriage house or separate basement apartment.
