This is a rather narrow house on three floors â â really two floors and a garage â â that my family found acceptable, but with some drawbacks and disappointing elements. The biggest disappointment was the so-called recreation room, a.k.a. family room. In truth, it was an unheated garage with some furniture in it, door leaned up against one of the unpainted cement walls and other things that you would never have an a family room including the exposed heating system for the house â â but also lacking plugs, except at one end of the garage, and the other. We had chosen this property over another one that we wouldâve preferred, because it had a pool table, and our son, especially likes pool, as do we. To be fair, the pool table was fully equipped and excellent, but it was cold down there, and when we complained about the false advertising involved in claiming it was anything other than a garage, the company representatively spoke to kept insisting it was advertised as a âconverted garage.â That was patently untrue..(unlike other VRBO properties weâve been in where you could communicate with the owners, this one is just run by a management company.) After much back-and-forth, the representative, offered to put a space heater in the garage, which did not arrive until the next day. When we discovered that in the main living room, a large, very modern, looking, and important lamp was not working because the lightbulb was out, we asked for a replacement bulb â which came with the space heater the next day. In the interim, we took a lightbulb out of a ceiling light and put it in that lamp, so we would have adequate lighting. In the living room, there were two rather cheap recliner chairs that were also rather old with cracked, worn Naugahide.
All these things relate to our review that this is an acceptable property, but with reservations. One other mistake that was on our part, not managements, was that we didnât notice that instead of twin beds in the third bedroom, it had only a double bed. We thought of asking for a cot, but there wouldnât be a room in that small bedroom for a cot and a double bed. As a result, two siblings, four years apart had to sleep together in one bed. At all other VRBO properties weâve stayed at the third bedroom generally have had two or more single beds. Itâs on us that we missed this point, but I flag it for anyone reading this review.
