Escapade historique côté plage

Nous avons récemment subi une rénovation complète et tout est neuf, y compris les appareils de cuisine, la peinture, le tapis et la télévision connectée de 55 pouces. Situé directement sur un accès à la plage publique. Aucune route à traverser, sortez juste par la porte et vous avez 90 secondes à pied de notre magnifique plage de la baie de Chesapeake près de la jetée de pêche Ocean View. Nous avons un salon spacieux et une grande cuisine bien équipée. Les 3 chambres comprennent 2 lits queen-size avec surmatelas et 3 lits jumeaux dans la chambre d'enfant. Il y a également 2 grands canapés pouvant accueillir des invités supplémentaires. Comprend WIFI haut débit. Si vous avez un bateau ou une embarcation, apportez-le! Nous avons beaucoup d'espace de stationnement et sommes à proximité d'une très belle rampe de mise à l'eau publique.

The host notified us the day (Thanksgiving Day) we were to check in that he was cancelling our reservation. This created quite an ordeal - finding availability on Thanksgiving day proved a challenge we could not overcome. We ended up sleeping on our son's living room floor - 4 of us for 2 nights and leaving a day early.To make matters worse, despite the host's promise for a full refund, a full week later, we still haven't been refunded. He ruined a family gathering that had been much anticipated. I do not recommend this host unless you enjoy being disappointed!

Musty smell in house. Paint chip was coming off of baseboard. Wash cloth was dingy. Outside of place not clean. Old sofa turned upside down on porch. Very old place with tenant on the other side. Didn’t even stay had to find a hotel.

For not staying, the home was sure left as though it had been used fully. What a fake review! A chip in the paint on the baseboard.....and?? Just a guest requesting a discount upon departing with a threat of a bad review. We love our older home as it is exactly as described. I will be sure to add the chipped baseboard paint to our description. All the best.

Great House, Great Location

We stayed August 5-11th and had an amazing time. The house was very clean and fit (7) adult sized people very well. The access to the beach was perfect, it was a very nice beach and never crowded. Many ammonites to enjoy within a short drive also.

The place was in a great location and having everything on one floor was a huge benefit as one of the guests is disabled. The place could use some updates but other than that it was nice! The owner was very responsive to our needs and got right back to us if we had any question! If we ever go back, we would consider this place again!

The property is as described. Right near the beach, which is gorgeous. The rooms are very accommodating and spacious. The bathrooms are sufficient as well. Not gonna lie, little expensive for two nights but was sufficient for what we needed. Close to the base so we were greatly surprised to find accommodations so close.

We enjoyed our stay. The carpet was stained (but vacuumed well), but it’s what you can expect from a place that allows pets. The layout is a bit unique with at least 4 exterior doors, though only two you are suppose to be able to use. The light in the carport stays on 25/7 and shines into the one bedroom so we had to hang a towel to block it at night. The WiFi was spotty and the router was located in the second smaller unit of the house that we did not have access to so the owner needed to ask the other tenants to reset it. The house is 3 houses back from the beach, but it’s a very short walk. Our dogs loved being allowed on the beach before 10am and after 6pm. We mainly ate out so I cannot speak to cooking in this units beyond using the microwave and fridge. They have a coffee pot and individually packed coffee pouches to use which is thoughtful. They have sheets and towels, hand soap and toilet paper plus some basic beach gear we could use. The owner was responsive and accommodating when we had questions. The beads were comfortable. I would recommend this property if you are planning to spend most of out and about. This is not a high luxury property but very nice if you are looking for something low key and utilitarian.

We really enjoyed this property.

We loved this property. Nothing fancy, but had everything that we needed. Very close to the beach, plenty of parking, we liked the little porch area that went around the property and the birds went crazy every morning in the trees that surrounded (which I enjoyed!) Our family visited daily while we were there, and I actually enjoyed the minimal decor. I didn’t have any fears of anything being knocked off or broken. Lots of really good local restaurants close by, which we enjoyed. Check in and check out we’re both very easy. My only recommendation would be to update the window treatments. They were all a little miss matched, and outdated, that’s just a personal preference, and would not keep me from staying there again. We loved watching the ships go out and the Navy helicopters. Great location and short distance to Norfolk airport.

Awesome Stay

Honestly very nice on the inside. (The outside could use some sprucing up or updating) but overall very nice on the inside, clean (which is very important to me), nice location, and spacious. You are right beside the public access to the water. So very close to the ocean. Our family had a great time and it worked wonderful for our family of 7. The only thing that I could say that you needed was small tv’s in the bedrooms and mirrors in the bedroom. With a big family like ours when it was time to get ready to go somewhere and you got a shower and got out and went to your room to get ready so the next person could get a shower. Mirrors would’ve been a big help doing hair and makeup. So make sure to bring a vanity mirror with you!! Other than that GREAT STAY!!!!!

Hosts were very accommodating & the location is great. Beds were great & I slept wonderfully. Window AC units in each room make it very comfortable. Plenty of beds for large groups (but check about extra charges. I am not sure why, but we were charged an extra person charge of 120 But there were only six of us.) This is a long review but I think there’s a lot to share. Please read all of it. My purpose is to make sure people are aware of what they are getting when they book. This home was a shock to us at first but felt more comfortable the longer we stayed (4 nights). We’ve travelled a lot with a different vacation rental company. This was our first time with VRBO. Our previous experiences have been a lot different than it was with this property. When we first walked in, we were all disappointed as it felt very gloomy (not a lot of lighting or windows) and very dated (which we knew it would be). Things just felt thrown together, mismatched curtains, throw pillows, broken furniture, etc. all of our previous experiences were in homes meticulously maintained, and decorated. They felt luxurious. This felt far from those experiences. BUT THIS WAS SEVERAL HUNDRED CHEAPER a night than our previous beach homes. We were able to do what we needed (cook, sleep, bathe and relax), play games at the table as a family,and quickly get to the beach. Since I can't write a book, this reference might help: felt like a Motel 6 stay vs a Hilton or Marriott stay.

Disappointed to say the least

The location was great, close to the beach. Besides the house being very run down, there were ants in the kitchen. i contacted the owners immediately and did not get a response until the next day. they said someone would be out to spray at noon, but no one showed up. The silverware, especially the potato peeler had food caked on it. It is advertised as a fully stocked kitchen, but was lacked essential cook/bakeware. There were no electrical outlets in the bathroom. The curtain rods were barely hanging, i tried to open curtains and it fell on me. Advertised to sleep 10, but additional charges apply for each person over the amount of 4.

Thank you for sharing this with us. However, we did arrive and sprayed for ants the next day, while you were out. No worries, we also sprayed a bit heavier around the exterior. And yes of course we will share this with our cleaners to pay more attention to the cooking utensils. Thank you for letting us know about the curtain rods and the kitchen cookware. Perfect beach house! Great for groups! Clean and spacious

We booked this place as my family was traveling here from the Midwest for my cousins wedding. I was worried just due to reading some mixed reviews but let me tell you I was impressed! You can tell George takes care of his homes. It is a very spacious clean and organized home right by the walkways to the beach! There’s two bed rooms with a bed and each with access to a bathroom. There’s two, equipped with shampoo soap and the SOFTEST toilet paper I’ve ever experienced in a VRBO. Then there’s a room with three twin beds in it. And the couches are super comfy as wel. The kitchen is stocked with nice pots and pans and utinsels. Like legit ones you’d want to use. George has games laid out you can play with family and the living room space is just amazing for gathering. There is no smell, just that of the ocean sea salt in the air! There’s no bugs and no dust. I stress a very clean comfortable space. Lots of amenities nearby if you forgot something or what Taco Bell. Easy on off highway access too. After staying here’s my family is honestly planning our return for next summer to stay st this place! Love it!! The last night we thought we had locked ourselves out and George was prepared to come save us! All around a GREAT experience! 10/10!

More than disappointed

The property was poorly maintained. There is minimal furnishing in the rooms, no dressers or night tables in the bedrooms. The bedding leaves a lot to be desired. Cheap quilts and sheets that barely fit the beds. The house has an order. The refrigerator does not have an ice maker. There is no central air system in the house, only individual units in two of the bedrooms and the livingroom. The third bedroom has only a fan. The place has absolutely no curb appeal, we parked on the unkept grass. The paint on the outside is pealing and dirty. There are overgrown shrubs surrounding the front of the house. The porch is enclosed with lattice boards that are broken and haven’t had a paint job in years. There is only one TV in the living room, with limited cable access. The kitchen furnishing were sparse, only one pot and one fry pan, for a house that accommodates 8 people. There is no fan or air conditioner in the kitchen, the garbage can, the only one in the house is very small, smaller than a 13 gallons size and cheap. There are cheap broken mini blinds at all the windows, no curtains. The front door is half glass with no blind or curtain. Passerbyers could look right in the house. The furniture in the living room is old and all mismatched, nothing coordinated. The shower curtains are cheap plastic, there is no counter space in the bathrooms, no place to put your toiletries. There are cheap ceiling fans in the rooms that were too small for the space, making them ineffective. There is new carpet in the place, but old area rugs were being used in front of the fake fireplace and in front of the mismatched sofas. The outside porch area is not clean, leaves are all over the place. There is an old picnic table in poor condition on the porch and two cheap grills, the 19.99 kind. All-in-all, this place was a total ripoff. I expected much more for the money I paid, is there a way I can get a partial refund?? This place is a total dump.

I’ll do my best to address your multitude of inaccuracies. We use higher-end bedding and expensive pillow-top beds. The lawn crew is on contract and keeps the grass always cut. We have 50+ channels and HBO as well as TV and movie streaming. The public cannot see into the house through the entrance. The fireplace is not fake. The “cheap $19.99 grills” you refer to are a $100 Weber grill and other $45 grill. You were very needy and rude during your stay, and left the place a mess. I would encourage you to view the pictures and description next time you book a property.

Weekend in Norfolk

My wife, and my in-laws stayed here for a weekend and it was great! It’s located close to a lot of activities and the place itself was great! It had plenty of space and was very clean. It was a very short walk to the beach and accommodating 5 people easily. I would recommend it to any family!

First off let me start by saying that we didn’t go for the beach. We went to see my son who is in the Navy. The side of the house that we stayed on was big! Had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The showers are on the small side but you just do what you need to do and get out. The location was great for us, just minutes from base and only about 30-40 mins from Virginia Beach. We visited the beach that was just a short walk from the rental and…. Well, I wouldn’t want to go there for a day at the beach… I will say that! If you are used to fancy, this place isn’t for you. This is a historical decent size house with everything you need to get by. We enjoyed our stay and Kathleen was easy to communicate with! Will stay again if available next time we come up!

This is a family endeavor. George, Kathleen and George Jr. are all working hard to provide a fantastic vacation value. We enjoy our historic little cottage. The location can't be beat as you are about a 90 second walk to the beautiful beach - right out your backdoor with no streets to cross.

Close proximity to beach, lots of room for guests, and plenty of off-street parking available. And of course, we are pet-friendly with a $99 pet fee.

A very easy stroll to the sandy beach, no roads to cross, just steps to the boardwalk on the beach.
Only a mile drive from the Ocean View Fishing Pier.
Also close to a free public marina with 3 boat ramps and many restaurants and bars.
