This was our last leg of our family road trip. Only stayed for 2 nights. But the house felt just like home all the amenities that we were looking for to just relax after long drive. And the owner even left some amazing extras which made it easy for us since we didnât have to go to the store. We were able to enjoy caverns and a trail all within a 10 mins drive.
The house was in great shape with everything updated and was very clean! It was a nice location to get to places and we enjoyed an evening of porch sitting! We had a great time!
Very well-kept and updated property in a quiet residential area a 30-minute drive from Natural Chimneys state park and Harrisonburg. It was an enjoyable 2-night stay with all the comforts of home.
We had such an awesome time staying here! The home was so warm and welcoming and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable! It was so clean and was decorated in such a unique way that we loved! Our host, Karen was also amazing! She was so friendly and helpful, checking in on us during our stay to be sure all was good đ
We had a wonderful time visiting nearby family and staying at Karenâs home! The house is absolutely charming, clean, and comfortable. Perfect for our family. We will stay again when in the area.
A quick twenty minute escape from the hustle and bustle of JMU Family Weekend. The house was clean, easy to access, and very comfortable. The host even went out of her way to contact us before arrival to help us avoid flooding since we were driving through the remainder of a hurricane.
Karenâs home was immaculate & welcoming - no complaints at all!! Great bucolic location near parks & farmland yet only about 20 minutes to Harrisonburg. We especially loved the mid-century American styling motif - retro-look but fully modern kitchen & some neat pieces in the living room. Would definitely book another stay!
The house was just wonderful! Quiet, relaxing and everything we needed for our annual wine weekend! Karen had the fridge stocked with a few essentials, eggs, coffee creamer, juice and k-cups for the coffee maker. It was a lovely long weekend and if we are ever back in the area we will be sure to stay here!
Karen was a gracious host and was very helpful and receptive. Her home was clean and had everything that we needed. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you!
Karen was extremely helpful and quick to respond to all my questions. Every possible accommodation is there for you!! House is immaculate and the yard is so inviting! Everything you can possibly need is in this very clean, nicely decorated sweet home!!! Highly recommend!
This house was very clean and everything was perfect! The owner was a great communicator! Love the house and the big oak tree out front! Gardens were beautiful too! Loved the mix of updates and retro decor! We would definitely go back and or recommend! Grottos is great. Loved brunch at the nearby winery.
I am a native from the Shenandoah Valley and currently live in Harrisonburg. I recently retired from 20 years working as an office manager in the dental field. Most folks I talk with say once you retire, you are much busier than you were before and this has proven to be true. My biggest passion is Missions. I love traveling to other countries to help others. I've visited Israel, Egypt, Jordan, and in recent years I have made many trips to Guatemala and Nicaragua to work in the orphanages and surrounding villages. When I am not traveling, I love to shop in antique stores, work in my gardens and spend time with family and friends. My newest adventure is opening up an Air B&B in my childhood home of Grottoes and I am excited for you to come, relax, and unwind.
My home place is located in a small town with a quiet neighborhood. It is within 15 to 20 minutes from the Shenandoah National Park/Skyline Drive, Cross keys Vineyards, Rocky's Antique Mall, Grand Caverns, The Lavender Farm, and James Madison University. My favorite local restaurant just minutes from the house is Wood Fired Oven. They have a great Steak and Cheese sub and the Pizza is awesome.
There are some beautiful old trees located at my old home place and in the summer you can sit in the shade of the old oak tree or sit on the back patio and grille your favorite burger or steak. Grottoes has a beautiful town park just minutes down the road with a walking trail by the river. In addition, my home place is within minutes of Grand Caverns. The cave has been open continually since 1806. During the Civil War and the âValley Campaignâ the cave was visited by both Confederate and Union soldiers. The park at Grand Caverns is filled with scenic trails for hiking, running, and biking. There are also picnic shelters, a pool, a miniature golf course, beautiful areas for fishing; and a fitness trail, featuring exercise stations with instructions at each stop. The peaceful setting at the park makes for an extra special experience here in the Shenandoah Valley!
