Welcome to SCORPIO RISING, Mid Century getaway on 5 acres of the Mojave Desert.

This is a three bedroom home, full of curiosities, character, and nice natural light. Originally a homestead cabin, it has had several additions including the fully enclosed pool area, and plenty of outdoor amenities.

The space
The KITCHEN is bright and filled with kitsch and color. I have most appliances you could need, Coffee maker, Blender, Juicer, Mixer, and TONS of pretty pyrex for the chef or baker in the group. I have a full bar set up, with all vintage barware. Complementary selection of coffees & teas, and basic spices.

The DINING room is the center of the house, watch the wildlife out the picture window while sipping your coffee etc. You will find the record player, vintage board games, and selection of indie films/DVDS here.

The glass boxed LIVING room, is the jewel of the house allowing you to feel like you are one with the desert with and the comforts of inside. Relax on the Adrian Pearsal sofa, or shag carpet and enjoy the view day or night. TV is equipped with Netflix, GAIA, Criterion Collection, Hulu streaming, and a blueray player with several DVD's available.

BEDROOM 1 has a queen size bed, with a firm mattress., and views outside and to the pool.

BEDROOM 2 has a double bed, firm mattress, and view outside.

BEDROOM 3 is a private master bedroom, accessed off the pool area. Has a king bed, firm mattress, daybed.

OFFICE the main pass through to the pool. You'll find our library of books, a desk area for working.

BATHROOM 1 in the main house with shower. Shampoo, Conditioner and soap provided.

BATHROOM 2 is off the pool area with shower. Shampoo, Conditioner and soap provided.

HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING: Newly installed split system units throughout the main house, in each bedroom, and a wall unit in the Master Pool Bedroom. Note: the office is the only room not specifically conditioned, but is cooled by the main ac in the Dining area.

OUTSIDE & AMENITIES

The POOL is awesome, COVERED and gives off THE best light for photos. Watch the dreamy glow of sunrise and sunsets here. Did we mention it has a MERMAID? Enjoy a private swim without baking in the summer sun. Filled with period appropriate vintage patio furniture. Private, so if you forget swimsuits, no one will know. Note: the pool is NOT heated but we have a hot tub that is. Hot tub is located outside (bring your sandals), for optimal desert and stargazing views.

Situated on 5 acres, we have just so much outside to enjoy in addition to the landscape. Raised area off the pool with a large dad BBQ and plenty of vintage patio seating for outdoor dining. LOUNGE CHAIRS positioned for watching the sunsets, sunrises. FIREPIT area for evening fires underneath the stars (when permitted by fire dept). Regulation size HORSESHOE court, our own HUMAN SUNDIAL that allows your body position to tell the time. Vintage GLIDER and chairs under the shade of the pine trees for morning coffee breaks and cocktails.

Explore the property's native plants (in sensible shoes) and watch for the jackrabbits, quail, dove, roadrunner, and sometimes owls that frequent the house. At night listen for the coyotes' and keep an eye out for bats.

SECURITY Scorpio Rising is equipped with systems to help keep guests comfortable and secure. Outdoor lighting at entry is on from dusk til dawn and outdoor security cameras monitor the entry areas.

PARKING, we covered parking for one car (or many moto's), plenty of additional parking, and a large parking lot / turnaround for RV's or trailers.

INTERNET we have internet and wifi throughout the house, however we are on a rural system and it is sometimes known for dropping out here and there.
Other things to note
By accepting the reservation, all guests assume the risk of any harm arising from the use of the pool/spa and premises, including others they invite to the home.

NO PARTIES. The most important house rule is respect. Please respect the home, the furniture/accessories, our neighbors and the desert environment.

No children or pets allowed.

Additional or unauthorized guests / pets can be grounds for immediate eviction from property. $150 per addtl. person per night charges may be applied.

Holidays and special occasions 3 Night Minimum Bookings.

Late Check Out ($50): If the home is not booked for that afternoon, arrangements may be able to be made for later check out. The fee is $50, and would need to be discussed with host, to confirm and coordinate with cleaners.

Pool cleaners come to home on Thursdays late morning/early afternoon.
