The property was great. Right across the street from the free bus, pool and hot tubs were fantastic. Vail Realty was the manager, very easy to work wiht.
Overall it was a decent condo. However there was one big issue I wish I would have known about. The master bedroom of the fourth floor unit faces a major interstate and unfortunately the window does not have good sound proofing so I heard the traffic noise during the night. I even tried putting in earplugs and it did not help much. I am very use to a quiet environment at night. The water from the faucet also had an odd taste to it. There were minor repairs to furniture and light fixtures that were needed as well. On the bright side my husband was able to work from the condo which means the internet was very good. I liked the layout of the condo, the master bedroom was separated from the second bedroom by a bathroom and small hallway to give some privacy and distance to the master. The overall vibe of the condo is a late 1980's feel.
Aside from salt and pepper there were no other food supplies, no condiments in the refrigerator, leftover tea or coffee or coffee filters. The refrigerator would make a loud running noise but it was not heard in either of the bedrooms.
Sincerely,
H. Jones
Overall, the stay was OK. There are many positives and many negatives to this property.
Positives:
-Great size for a family of 4
-Great amount of storage for ski clothes, skis, etc.
-Not far from the slopes
-Vail Reality is a nice management company to work with
-Heated pool and hot tubs are great
-Parking was never a major issue
-Super close to the bus stop
-The kitchen was stocked enough for basic meals
Negatives:
-The beds are extremely uncomfortable (the master bed slopes toward the middle--the mattress needs replaced), the pillows are all extremely old and flat.
-There are many broken things in the condo and the carpet is stained which gives it a grungy feel.
-The pipes in the wall make a loud banging sound when adjacent units use the shower. I was woken up many nights at 11:30. Yes, I know the unit is old and there is not much the owner can do about this, but it is important that prospective renters know this
-There is no ice maker and there was no ice in the ice cube trays when we arrived
-The highway noise might be bothersome--if you are a light sleeper, this might not be the condo for you. There is a fan you can use for white noise; however, the fan was broken.
-There was a musty smell that lingered from the day we arrived until we left
Overall, the rating should be "good", not "excellent". I didn't need a luxurious condo, but I did need a comfortable one.
We had a great stay here - it was perfect for what we needed. The place was clean and what we expected based on the listing. The location was perfect for hitting the slopes too! Very easy transportation to and from the mountain. We really enjoyed our trip!
Just minutes away from the Lionshead Gondola. The bus stop is right in front of the building and the apartment can easily fit 6 adults.
Fully equipped kitchen with a beautiful social area with a fireplace. The outdoor hot tub is another great experience especially during snowfall.
