👣 Bigfoot’s Bungalow – A Private, Pet-Friendly Forest Escape with Firepit, Woodstove, Loft & Large Covered Deck
Set in the enchanting woods of Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island, Bigfoot’s Bungalow is your rustic-but-cozy cabin getaway — a place where the fire crackles, the hammock beckons, and forest legends whisper from the trees.
Formerly known as The Broad Axe, this character rich hand-built log cabin has been carefully relocated, lovingly restored and expanded — now with a covered deck and view of a spacious woodland ravine & seasonal creek, more privacy, and more comfort.
Surrounded by towering trees and partially enclosed by a custom-milled wooden fence, this hideaway feels like your own forest fortress — the perfect mix of charm, solitude, and creature comforts (no more outhouse!).
Whether you’re a Bigfoot enthusiast, a woodland wanderer, or simply in search of a peaceful or romantic retreat, this whimsical escape is your ticket to tranquil forest magic.

-We ask that you please respect the privacy and comfort of other guests on the property. The bungalow is located on a large property across the driveway from our “Treehouse” and “Wheelie Rad RV Pad” rentals on the other side of the fence so you may occasionally glimpse someone pulling in. If you have friends who may want to join in on your adventure, you might consider renting the RV pad or Treehouse as well! 😊
We respect the privacy of our guests but are always available if there's anything they need.
Ten minute drive to the beautiful downtown of Qualicum Beach. Just minutes to the local beaches. If you would like to lounge by the lake instead of the ocean we are located just 15 minutes from Spider Lake. If you’re feeling adventurous, check out Horne Lake Caves. If you’re travelling to/from Tofino, this is a great location to break up the drive. Just 10 minutes from the main highway.
A vehicle is recommended for exploring the island.
-Please indicate if you plan on bringing your pooch by adding them to your reservation.
-We anticipate a provincial fire ban in summer 2025 so campfires are only permitted until the ban is in effect. All campfires must be fully extinguished before leaving them unattended. If you wish to bring a propane fire pit to use during the ban that's fine.
-We have firewood available to purchase for $10/bin on an honour system. Please either leave cash in the drop box when you check out or, if you don’t have cash on hand, an email money transfer can be sent to the email on the drop box. This dry, seasoned wood is primarily intended for the indoor woodstoves and we don’t have an unlimited supply so please be mindful and keep outdoor fires to a reasonable size and frequency—a chill vibe, not a bonfire bash—so the wood can stretch for everyone!
-The cabin is serviced by a well so please do your best to conserve water during the hot summer months to prevent it from running dry. Yes, the water is potable (drinkable).
-Please let us know if you plan on bringing your pooch by adding them to your reservation.
-The main house is adjacent to the cabin (but out of sight) and is also a vacation rental so please be respectful of other guests.
