We had a great time at this property. It features a very unique design with plenty of space indoors and outdoors to enjoy, along with many sleeping options. The property manager provided a detailed listed of items to bring up to ensure we could fully enjoy the many amenities including the Nespresso machine, Traeger grill, wood-burning sauna, and much more.It was the ideal location for 12 men to enjoy a golf weekend.
I flew down from Alberta to celebrate Fatherâs Day with my family who mostly live in Ontario. This place was absolutely incredible. The adults enjoyed the hot tub and sauna and the kids love the lake. We enjoyed this place so much, we are considering making this an annual tradition. 10/10.
We had an amazing week at this Bracebridge house. The location offers breathtaking backyard views, and the spacious interior, with plenty of bedrooms, is perfect for large families. The family room has table tennis and a pool table, and the cozy fireplace was perfect for chilly nights. We loved gathering around the big dining table for meals. The host was supportive when temperatures dropped unexpectedly and refunded us for the extra blankets we bought . Bracebridge, just a 30-minute drive away, has charming gift stores and convenient grocery shopping. Despite the snow, the roads were well-maintained, making the house easily accessible.
This property is very beautiful. The house is spectacular â itâs huge! Overall, the place was comfortable for all of us and we loved our stay in it. It was good ownersâ idea to have covered fire pit. We had rainy evenings, but we still could enjoy gathering together around fire.
The interesting design and large size of this home helped us enjoy the week which included three days of cold, wet weather. The hot tub was enjoyed by all which woyld not have been the case if the weather had been nicer. The VBRO reviewer's comments from May 2014
The place was nice but needed a lot of upgrades or repairs. The hot tub needs a few items repaired/replaced and the pool table/ping pong table looked like a kids set. For a cottage in this price range the amenities need to be top notch.
Everything was provided. Only two items we would have liked were small fishing boat and a regular gas barbecue. Smoker was okay. We left behind our chargers and cables. Sent message to owner/property manager but have not heard back ! Overall we had a great vacation.
Place needs major upgrades and repairs. Hot tub was unusable. Ad says water is changed every visitor but the water was disgusting. One shower head was broken and unusable. Jacuzzi drain was broken so it was unusable.
Bbq lid hinge was broken. Trampoline was upside down and in the lake. Floor in master bedroom had a major sag and cracks.
Decent place, good basic accommodations for the cost
The location has a good set up in terms of number of rooms for an extended family gathering. The description was somewhat unclear in terms of the configuration, particularly with one double/queen being on the upper loft area of one room necessitating a climb up a steep ladder. The loft areas are fine for children, not ideal for adults.
The missing door from one of the bathrooms was not ideal and renders it less useful. The lack of locks on any of the bathroom doors is also not ideal.
The outdoor covered patio was not a place we would be comfortable spending time. The structure actually looks unsafe.
The access to the water is awesome. I wish the grounds were maintained better. The maintenance of the house, both indoors and outdoors left a lot to be desired.
The boats were great for kids. Unfortunately one inflatable boat had a hole and was not usable. The stand up paddleboards were not good quality and not really suitable for adult use (even those of us experienced with SUP found this to be the case).
Contact was ok, but one pertinent question about safety of the water for drinking took around 24 hours to answer.
Overall the space was clean. The layout was a bit odd, but enough space overall. The access to the water and number of rooms are the biggest strengths. The sauna is a nice added touch.
It would have been nice to have a regular bbq in addition to the smoker.
Overall a decent place and a nice stay, but would probably not return to the same spot.
Loved the unique architecture and design of this beautiful home. The bedrooms and accomodation were incredible! It is ideal for a large group, and the common spaces are large enough to accomodate any group. Great experience!
The pictures and overall property summary are not an accurate portrait of what you be arriving too.
To start we did not receive check in info until the morning of and at the end of the message I was then told the cooktop does not work! Completely unacceptable. It doesnât work because itâs from 1950. This should be in the add. They had three hotplates however only one worked and only one kitchen outlet works. The kitchen blender is broken in pieces. The Magic bullet does not even work as itâs missing pieces. The new BBQ is a good 20 ft from the house and remember you can only use the front door(this comes later) so add another 20ft. The house is full of cobwebs, ladybugs and flies. The firewood shown in the pics is no where near the fire pit and was buried under a snow pile. The fire pit has a roof over it that is charred and leaning. It looks extremely unsafe. The hot tub is in the back of the cottage but you again we were told your not allowed to use or open any door except the front door. So accessing this in the snow is not user friendly at all! Plus I should add nothing is shovelled so be prepared to clear snow on your own! The lofts in the bedrooms have very steep ladders. I would not call them stairs. The one bedroom/loft combo has space to sleep 7 however the bathroom has no door on it so be ready for all to see and hear your business. Overall the people we stayed with made the weekend amazing. Definitely the alcohol made the stay manageable.
The property itself is gorgeous and very spacious. There is plenty of room for entertaining a large group of guests indoors and out. No shortage of beds either!
There were a few minor quirks that impacted an otherwise perfect location for a getaway in Muskoka. But overall it's a great place to stay!
Thank you Hans for your assistance during our stay!
Overall, we had an amazing time and I would definitely book Hansâ cottage again. The property is beautiful and we loved the spacious grounds and amazing beachfront. The swimming conditions were great and the kids spent hours playing on the water mat. The house itself met our needs very well, especially the second floor sleeping accommodations. However, there are some details that bear mentioning. The lighting is very dim throughout the cottage - there is very limited ceiling lighting, with strip lighting on one wall in most rooms. There is no door on the bathroom in one of the upstairs en suite bathrooms, which did pose an issue as the room was being shared by three unrelated young teens who felt uncomfortable without a door. We had to fashion a door out of a garbage bag for them to use that bathroom. We had some challenges around communication early in our stay, as Hans was out of town and the property manager wasnât able to assist without direction from Hans. There were no paddleboard paddles when we arrived and we advised the property manager of this at check in. It still took more than half our stay to get paddles, which was a disappointment because we couldnât use the SUPs in that time. Even when the replacement was delivered by the property manager, he brought only one, not two, despite there being two SUPs. Despite these small bumps in the road, we had a phenomenal time and would happily return.
This is a fabulous property with everything a family needs to relax and enjoy.
Lots of indoor and outdoor activities for kids and parents of all ages.
We would definitely love to stay here again.
Hans was helpful and responsive when we had questions which was great!!!
We had a wonderful time celebrating a Christmas family vacation. Enjoyed playing games, pool, ping pong, outdoor sauna. Everything we needed for meals and plenty of room for sleeping. Lots of fun.
We had a great stay at this property. The view of the lake is gorgeous! Comfortable beds.
We enjoyed our stay at this luxury cottage, even swimming in the lake into early October. Hot tub, sauna, kayaks, fire pit, steam shower - all used and enjoyed. Lots of room for everyone, and comfortable beds.
A private beach, deck, and home with unique architectural features. Hosts were responsive - and space was professionally maintained. Highly recommend the property for larger groups and families.
Wonderful place to get away from the hustle of life!
Sandraâs place is perfect for families.. everything you need to enjoy a stay away the quick pace of the city! Excellent communication with Sandra.. she was there to answer any questions we had.. really enjoyed all the extra amenities and uniqueness of there gorgeous chalet.. thank you for allowing us to Create some treasured memories at your home away from home
This property was incredible! It checked off all of our boxes, and even the boxes we didn't anticipate. I would definitely recommend this property to others, and I would stay there again next time I'm in the area.
Thank you for allowing us to vacation in your beautiful home and property. We felt like we were at home but in a dream home at the same time. So many bedrooms and bathrooms to accommodate a large group. So many things to do outdoors. My toddler son loved playing the piano, showering in the master shower, and playing on the swing set. The adults enjoyed a fire around one of the two fire pits almost every night. We even had a fish fry one night after an unsuccessful (yet amazing) day of fishing on Lake Muskoka. My parents loved the spacious master bedroom and theater room. My husband just enjoyed relaxing. We all loved fishing off the property dock and taking out the paddle boat. The row boat just needs paddles, we couldnât get very far in that with the kayak paddles lol. Hot tub worked great. Only other thing Iâd suggest is to have directions for things like the coffee pot, hot tub, and where to find cleaning supplies, extra towels, etc. Other than that we truly enjoyed our stay, the cleanliness, comfort, everything provided, and especially the secluded relaxing location and amazing view on the lake. If we ever come this way again Iâm the future, we would most definitely have a repeat stay!
Our team booked Sandraâs cottage for our yearly winter retreat and could not have asked for a more comfortable, welcoming, enjoyable experience. We had a total of 15 guests attend (on and off) throughout our 5-night stay and each arrived with astonishment/bewilderment at how spacious and amenity-filled the property was - inside and out.
With multiple levels throughout, and bedrooms on each floor, the property can easily accommodate large groups at varying levels of privacy, noise, etc. Even with our large group we ended up having a few bedrooms unused, and at times, entire apartments worth of space to single guests.
As far as amenities go, everything was easily accessible and well-kept including: the beautiful hot-tub and rustic wooden sauna (both of which worked wonderfully to stay warm outdoors during the peak of winter weather), the four and half bathrooms well dispersed around the home, the grand living room with itâs lovely gas-powered fireplace that kept everyone toasty through the trip, each of the beds with more than enough linens and blankets, and every kitchen appliance/cookware item we could need.
Surrounded by peaceful Muskoka forests and at the shore of a beautiful lake, to call this cottage a private sanctuary is an understatement. We even had a fellow come clear all the driveway and walkways of snow multiple nights, ensuring that the storm the night before left only positive impact.
As you can probably tell, we were thoroughly impressed with every aspect of the cottage and were only perturbed by the unfortunate necessity of having to eventually end our trip and leave such a wonderful, relaxing experience. We definitely plan on coming back again next winter, and can only hope someone else hasnât booked up our dates before then. Ten out of ten, definitely worth the price.
