À propos de cet hébergement
Cottage with commanding views of the lake on a large piece of Canadian Shield
Beautiful vistas and property to explore -privacy with good parking. Snowmobile in and out off the lake to the main trail system. All types of skiing/snowboarding and hiking/ice climbing within half an hour. *****Waste disposal included -we remove your trash and recycling- so you can leave it all behind!*****
The cottage is on a large private lot, nestled in the trees, perched on top of a massive rock with amazing panoramic views of the lake from a large deck.
It is a large, gorgeous, clean and comfy cottage, all about privacy and spending time with the trees and the lake – the waterfront is over 300 feet long.
The cottage is designed with 2 “wings”, with the common areas in the middle. There are bedrooms and bathrooms in each wing, so peeps can separate from each other.
Located on Boshkung Lake, the water is weed-free, and has a sandy bottom.
Everything updated and very nice, but with a rustic/cottage aesthetic, so this isn’t a “house up north” like some places in Muskoka. It’s got that real cottage feeling, without compromising on any amenities or wow factor.
Spotless, full plumbing and heating, self-check in, all linens provided.
Features at the cottage: large social kitchen with quartz countertops, dish washer, 2 x fridge/freezer, stove with ceramic cooktop, microwave, ice machine, butler’s pantry, tv & dvd player, laundry (washer/dryer), fireplace (inside), plenty of parking, all the cooking basics, dishes and silverware.
Two fire pits outside with metal grills for cooking or bonfiring. Firewood available in either town at the grocery stores. Closest option is the Jug City convenience store in Carnarvon 10 mins away (also an agency liquor store with lots of beer/coolers and surprising section of fresh produce and frozen foods). There is a propane BBQ on the cottage deck that overlooks the lake for all your grilling needs.
Winter enthusiasts will love the heated mud room, designed for snowsuits, skis, snowboards and boots. And, the direct access into the pantry and bar area from the mudroom makes unloading your vehicle easier all year long. You may need to shuffle your vehicles around for snow clearing to plow the parking areas if there is a significant storm.
New this year we have ten pairs of snowshoes (various sizes) and poles kits for trekking around the lake and the property or for the more adventurous; on to the lake (stay close to the shore where the ice is safer) or any one of the top notch hiking trails within a 20 minute drive. One of our favs is the Lookout at Halls Lake that has majestic views and is only ten minutes from the cottage. It also is not too difficult for a weekend warrior! Trail info can be found by searching the township of Algonquin Highlands website.
Attention snowmobilers -you have hit the jackpot! When not cross-country skiing or snowshoeing the main reason we winterized our cottage was to snowmobile! As soon as the Lakes freeze you can sled from your door step to anywhere in the world -snow permitting!! There is ample parking for sleds (we have had 15 parked once) in the side yard just steps from the cottage doors. Heated mudroom dries out your suits while the heated boot dryers can have your boots dry and ready to go again within an hour! You can unload in our parking lot and then ride straight to the lake never having to touch a road. My Halburton Highlands website has online maps and great resources for planning a trip. We are also available to make tips on whatever kind of adventure you have planned.
Use the large flat grass/field area beside the sliding glass doors (adjacent to parking) for outdoor play, like football, soccer, croquet etc, as well as small craft parking, like ATVs and snowmobiles. Please note: cars, trucks, trailers or large vehicles are NOT PERMITTED FOR ANY REASON, AT ANY TIME on this field due to the septic system below ground. Please respect the parking markers and see the designated car/truck parking areas in the listing photos. We have easily parked many cars, trucks and trailers at the same time (even in winter) in the dedicated parking area on our driveway.
Lots of snow toys for the kids stored under the deck. And many inside activities that are fun for all ages: games wall, yoga mats, toys and books.
“Breeze” conditioning vs “air” conditioning: With the tree canopy over/around the cottage and screened windows and doors on all sides of the cottage, you can use the refreshing lake and forest natural cross-breezes to cool down. Fans are also provided in each bedroom. With over 16 windows and 4 exterior doors for breeze conditioning, we have no plans to ever put in air conditioning.
Wifi with strong signal throughout the cottage and LTE works just fine too so you can use your cell to hotspot as well.
And no pets or smoking allowed inside. No hunting or RV’s on the property either.
Finally, nobody wants to take garbage/recycling on the ride home. That's why we started a trash management program and placed a black dumpster on the side of the cottage. Being guests ourselves we knew how much easier it would be if you could leave there garbage behind -especially when traveling by car. So guests can leave all you waste generated during your stay locked in the dumpster and we'll take care of it!! The dumpster is locked and must stay locked at all times to keep any curious animals from getting in the habit of frequenting it. That means you must also make sure you don't over fill your bags so nothing spills out and/or is left on the ground around the dumpster. Provided for are clear bags that must be used for trash AND recycling. Please do not let the lid slam down and create unnecessary noise. Please do not use the dumpster outside of the hours of 9am to 9pm. The landfill will not except bags you can't see through and hefty charges will apply for anyone leaving those types of opaque bags. The same applies for any trash brought from off site.
2.5 Hours to Toronto, 20 Minutes to Minden, 45 Minutes to Bracebridge and only 25 minutes to Sir Sam's Ski Club and Spa! 10 minute drive to Carnarvon for restaurants/beer/liquor/convenience store. 25 minute drive to Minden for all of the above, plus gas/grocery/hardware/shops/golfing and the famous Kawartha Dairy ice cream store (Just look for the massive dairy cow!). 25 minutes to Haliburton for similar options as well.
Thank you and enjoy!
